Chapter 73: Utter Chaos
Chapter 73: Utter Chaos
Cordelia, Henry, and the rest of the knights that accompanied Elys and Aleksander were outside, waiting and oblivious to the happenings of the throne room.
"Hey, Henry," Cordelia nudged at the attendant that stood stiffly beside her.
The old man turned to her and raised a brow, "Yes?"
"I can’t seem to find myself not to notice you were always so wimpy. Would you like to become stronger?" she asked him out of the blue. "I can help you learn a few self-defense tricks."
Henry was taken aback by the weird question Cordelia raised. The knights who waited with them were as silent as dead men, and the quiet made it a bit more embarrassing to Henry. He knew all too well that the vampires heard Cordelia’s question for him, as well as her little remark.
"Woman," Henry adjusted his pince-nez as he tried to save a bit of dignity in him, "why do you ask such a thing?"
Cordelia smirked, noticing Henry’s attempt to look as if he didn’t acknowledge her comment on him, "Well, it just seemed like you struggle every time we had problems along the way. Especially when it came down to life and death situations."
Henry choked on his own saliva.
"H-How improper of you to talk to me like that!" he said, his face turning beet red with anger, "You still owe me respect as the senior attendant, slave!"
"And you owe me a thank you for saving your life several times already," Cordelia crossed her arms.
"!"
Henry was about to burst into a tirade of insults for Cordelia when all of a sudden, bloodcurdling screams erupted inside the throne room. Animal screeches and howls began joining the screams of the court that turned into a cacophony of chaos.
The doors burst open, and people and their animal companions poured out into the corridors.
"What the hell is happening?" Cordelia’s eyes widened with shock.
"I have no fucking idea," Henry commented.
They peered into the throne room and saw the prince wielding a sword. The blades of his weapon were bloody, a body and several animals lain on the floor bathing in a pool of red liquid.

"AAAHH!!!"
"Save me!"
"The vampire has turned wild!"
Majority of the men and women of Queen Euphemia’s court were inexperienced with fighting. The Eastern Kingdom lived up to their philosophy of peace and harmony so much that most of their people didn’t bother learning how to defend themselves.
Tucked away from the outside world, the Eastern Kingdom was a safe haven for many, many years – up until now.
As soon as Prince Aleksander lashed out with his smuggled weapon, the room instantly erupted into utter chaos. The scrolls scattered and spread out around the floor, flustering the animals that came with their humans.
"Guards! Guards!" Queen Euphemia called out to the palace guards. "Detain the Western Prince this instant!"
Several palace guards poured in to try and deescalate the situation. These men were the only ones who knew how to fight in the entire kingdom, creating a unique style that didn’t have to make use of man-made weapons, only that of what they have – their bodies.
"Your majesty! You must escape right now, leave the throne room and this insolent foreigner to us," a well-toned man said as he rushed to the queen’s seat.
He was one of the Euphemia’s loyal advisers, and one of the youngest at that. He stepped forward in the heat of the moment, grabbed the queen by her shoulders, and promptly sent her towards Lawin who was screeching where he was perched at the giant open window.
"Where do you think you are going?!"
The young queen turned around; her eyes wide with fear as she saw the vampire prince’s face painted with the blood of her subjects. Out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed Aleksander’s wife swept her skirt up and produced a black dagger as well.
Euphemia immediately assumed the princess was also an accomplice to the mayhem. But to her surprise, instead of joining in and killing her people, Princess Elysianne went for her own husband’s heart with the dagger in her hand.
"Your highness!" her adviser yelled in urgency, "You must go now! Lawin should take you to a safe place until this man is contained."
"I can’t just leave!" the young queen said, her eyes teary as she saw the bloodshed in her own throne, "I can feel the pain of my people, the animals!"
The man’s face turned rigid.
"Forgive me for my insolence, your majesty," he said.
"!"
With a swift hand, the adviser hit Queen Euphemia’s neck hard and the shock sent the young queen unconscious. In an instant, Euphemia Zemyatur’s body went limp, the man quickly catching her in his strong arms.
"I know the people of the East has vowed to live not in violence, but you leave me no choice. You must live, Euphie," the man said.
He hoisted the young queen into Lawin’s back, strapped her snugly and instructed the bird to fly away. The bluebird’s wings spread out wide, immediately flapping them as he gathered wind beneath him.
In a matter of seconds, the bluebird lifted into the sky and escaped from the palace with the young queen’s safety in mind.
The adviser turned back to the chaos of the throne room, saw Queen Euphemia’s scepter broken on the floor, his hands turning to balls of fury.
"Guards! Into primary defensive formation!" he yelled.
"Yes, Sir Noa!" the palace guards responded.
Men circled in on the prince, creating a barricade of human bodies hardened with training.
"Keh! What could these imbeciles even do with no weapon and not even a single drop of magic in their bodies?" Prince Aleksander said.
"Stop it this instance!" Elys said as she pushed the prince away from her.
The bastard prince smirked and put his tongue out mockingly. His eyes were crazed and he didn’t seem like he was himself to Elys.
The princess tightened her grip on the dagger in her hands.
It seemed like they were in quite a serious problem.
