Chapter 205: Contempt For The King

The vampire king’s voice echoed as he growled at the people who intruded his and his queen’s private moment was enough to make a grown man cower in fear. The knights who were supposed to chase Cordelia out of the office immediately lowered their heads, avoiding eye contact as they feared Aleksander’s powers.

They have seen what happened to those who disobeyed and tried to fight the young king, and just like his father, Aleksander had no remorse when it came to punishments.

One look in his eyes would mean endless pain and suffering, if not an instant death by his own hands. It was not a secret anymore that Aleksander was a master in the arts of swordsmanship, as he continuously trained in his free time and every single master swordsman in the palace has never been able to land a blow on him no matter how much they tried.

"How dare you?!" they heard his voice boom with unbridled rage.

Aleksander’s veins were as visible as the fury in his piercing golden eyes.

They could have sworn one more step they took and his veins would pop in rage. His fangs were bared at them and the young king was ready to kill, a dark aura looming over him.

Cordelia still had the knight’s sword in her hand and stood petrified. But she hadn’t stiffened in her place because of Aleksander’s threatening voice. What made her skin crawl and stopped her heart was the scene she had seen of Elys and Aleksander.

’He is defiling the Princess,’ Cordelia thought in her mind. ’How could he attack her in such a manner? She deserved to be treated like the royalty that she is!’

The old woman couldn’t believe how demeaning their position looked for the young queen. Although Aleksander was successful in hiding her with his broad build, not even an imbecile would mistake the act that they were in the middle of.

Aleksander’s voice rang inside the old maid servant’s ears, and Cordelia stubbornly looked him in the eyes as she pointed at him with an accusing finger.

"Don’t you even get me started, vampire," she hissed at him. "How could you even do the Queen Elysianne such a dirty thing?"

She couldn’t see who it was that burst inside the King’s office for Aleksander had shielded her with his broad build. Her face was practically pressed close to his chest, and she could hear his growl reverberating through his body.

The young queen tried to look over Aleksander’s shoulder but his embrace on her was too tight that she had to use all her strength to even get a tiny glimpse.

"Cordelia?" she spoke with a hint of disbelief in her voice.

A cynical laugh bubbled out of Aleksander’s mouth. He pulled out of Elys slowly, careful not to hurt her. The young king gathered the fabric of her skirt up and swept it across her so her legs and everything he wanted on he should see were covered.

He turned a full one-eighty, not even caring that he had nothing on from the waist below. Cordelia could see the entire glory of Aleksander’s manhood still fully erect from their short lived lovemaking.

"What my Queen and I choose to do has nothing to do with you, Cordelia," Aleksander glared at her. "I had believed for your age and experience that you were wise enough to know how things work in the palace."

Elys’ flushed face peeked over Aleksander and she could see Cordelia’s face painted with disgust.

The former Northern Warrior Princess felt her heart sink to the bottoms in the flip of a coin. Was Cordelia really looking at her with such eyes?

She felt as if her honor had been lost to the deepest and darkest side of a void, out of reach and never to return no matter how hard she’d blindly try and grab for it.

"Cordelia, what is the meaning of this?" Elys tried to speak with the old woman as calmly as she could.

Although she saw Cordelia as someone she could confide her woes without being judged, Elys was mortified that Cordelia had barged in during she and Aleksander were in the middle of fucking each other, if not at all furious.

"The meaning is quite clear, my queen," Aleksander spoke. "Your maidservant has gone crazy."

"Don’t speak to Cordelia like that, Aleksander," Elys snapped at her husband. "And for fuck’s sake, put on your pants!"

She was still defending Cordelia despite her irritation with the intrusion. Although the old woman had done something she didn’t approve of, she still had to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Aleksander gave his wife a brief side glance and winked at her, "I wouldn’t have thought much of it, Elys. But if you say so, your wish is my command."

The young queen rolled her eyes at him, exasperated by how he could switch from being a raging volcano to a cocky bastard in merely just seconds.

"You are incorrigible," she grumbled at him.

Aleksander smirked, and then just as quickly as he changed his demeanor when he spoke to Elys, the vampire’s aura darkened yet again as he turned his attention back to Cordelia.

He noticed the knights who had their heads lowered in fear. Ticked off by how they had let the old woman barged into his office so easily, Aleksander marched forward, his gait menacing.

He grabbed his pants and underwear from the floor, and dragged them by as he moved closer. Even with him being half naked from the waist down, Aleksander still managed to walk regally and exude authority with how cold his gaze was.

"Viscount Gemia and Sir Vadna," he addressed the knights, completely disregarding Cordelia who he passed by. "Lift your heads up, I want to see your faces."

The two knights stiffened by the young king’s command. They knew that his word was absolute, and there was no way out should they even try to escape. Either way, they would most probably be punished anyways.

If there was any consolation to that fact, it was perhaps the hope that Aleksander would pity them if they stay put and followed his command.

"Your majesty, have mercy on us," Viscount Gemia, the older of the two spoke. "We didn’t let her in but the human was too stubborn -"

"I did not ask for an explanation from you, Viscount Gemia," Aleksander cut him off, his voice cold and uncaring.

The young king’s eyes locked with the two knights, and seeing how dark his aura has become, Viscount Gemia and Sir Vadna knew instantly he wasn’t going to let them go too easily.

"Forgive us, your majesty," the two spoke in unison. "We deserve to die for our insolence!"

Ticked off by their inability to do their jobs correctly, Aleksander gave them a quick nightmare sending the two knights screaming in pain. Elys watched with a blank face as her husband punished the knights - she as well was furious by the the commotion they had made.

"You should know better than to cross a king," Alkesander told them. "Now get out of my sight before I decide to permanentlt kill you."

As the knights’ screams died down, Aleksander flicked a finger and the two scrambled out of the office. Then with a swift motion, the vampire king put on his underwear and pants before turning back to Cordelia.

The old woman didn’t twitch an eye even as Aleksander slammed the door shut behind him. The vampire loomed behind Cordelia and his killing intent was imminent.

The young queen knew Aleksander wouldn’t harm her maidservant but she still felt that she needed to make a move. She jumped off of the table and paced forward to put herself between her most trusted confidant and the man she has taken as her husband so she could attain her goals for her people.

Elys would never lie that she was in utter disbelief herself at how Cordelia could destroy the office doors knowing she and Aleksander were perfectly safe inside. Perhaps she had a very urgent reason that she couldn’t wait for the two to come out, and that was what Elys wanted to believe in.

"Please, Aleksander, calm down," Elys said as she pushed his chest away.

The young king was furious and practically breathing through his nostrils in great huffs. He looked like he was a boiling teapot, steam and fumes exiting his nostrils. His eyes were blazing. If he had the powers, his gaze would have bored through Cordelia’s skull.

Elys turned to the old woman and demanded, "Cordelia, I am giving you a chance. You better give us a damn good explanation why you barged in like that."

The maidservant turned to face Elys and her face was that of no remorse.

"I was worried for your safety, your majesty," Cordelia began. "No matter how loud I called out, none of you were answering and I thought you were in the same trouble."

"Well you need not -" Elys said but was suddenly cut off.

"It turns out what happened here was much worse," Cordelia added, her eyes full of contempt targeted towards the vampire king.
