Chapter 115: Release Her

Chapter 115: Release Her

Elys knew by now that Aleksander’s magic could only activate with eye contact. The things that he could do with such powers were beyond her. The amount of emotional damage he could cause with just a glance could mean the death of his enemies.

She should know, she had been under his magic twice now, the last almost breaking her will to live.

Elysianne let out a soft smirk, to which Aleksander’s sensitive hearing picked up immediately.

"Are you actually laughing at the situation we have here, wife?" he asked in confusion.

Elys only shook her head and waved her hand in denial, "No, I was just thinking how you didn’t even lift a finger back then when your powers was just as terrifying as your father’s. I could tell now that you took after him in spite of everything."

Without speaking a word, Aleksander swiftly moved towards Elys, his face twisted with the comparison his wife made of him and his father.

His bare feet tapped at the cold tower’s floors. Elys could barely hear his movements with how light his footsteps were.

If she had not been looking at Aleksander, she would never be able to guess he was coming for her – except maybe if she focused her other senses aside from sight.

The young vampire king crossed the distance between them in mere seconds, reaching for his wife’s face with his long fingers. His cold hand cupped Elys’ cheeks on both sides, a playful spark in his eyes.

"My queen, was that a compliment or an insult?" Aleksander asked, his voice husky, a dangerous tone coating his words. "I do not like being compared to my father."

"It depends on how you want to take it, husband," Elys crossed her arms. She wasn’t going to have any of his daddy issues right now. She glanced back at the lady in waiting and then asked, "Aren’t you going to interrogate that woman some more?"

Aleksander’s eyes followed Elys’ gaze, and then stared for a few seconds at Lady Catalina before eventually reverting his attention to his wife. His face instantly turned grim, and Elys felt something must have bothered him to make such a face.

"What’s wrong?" Elys asked, sensing that Aleksander was uneasy with Lady Catalina’s situation.

"The vision I gave Lady Catalina should have made her spill by now," Aleksander responded, "I think that she has been manipulated by someone who she didn’t personally meet."

Elys pushed Aleksander’s hands off her face and then mulled over what her husband said.

"Then what are we to do with her?" she asked. "Obviously it wouldn’t get us anywhere if we just up and kill her immediately."

Aleksander stared at the frozen lady in waiting. It was clear to him that she wasn’t responding the way he wanted her to. It was futile to continue with his current vision.

King Aleksander scratched his chin in contemplation.

Elys saw her husband thinking deeply. Her eyes turned back and forth from Lady Catalina to Aleksander, until he spoke all of a sudden.

"Let me try one more thing," he muttered.

Aleksander walked towards Lady Catalina. He reached out to her temple and poked the woman at the very middle of her forehead. His sharp fingernail left a mark on her skin, and immediately, Lady Catalina writhed and wailed in pain.

"AHHH!!! You monster!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.

Elys sat at the windowsill of the tower, and watched as Aleksander stood by stiffly. She was unaware of what he was doing, but one thing was for sure – it wasn’t anything pleasant for the lady in waiting.

Unable to hold off her budding curiosity, Elys called out to him and asked, "What are you doing now?"

Aleksander turned to her and grinned, "Just giving her one last scare before releasing her."

Elys raised a brow at the vampire’s plan.

"Release her afterwards?" she asked in incredulity. "Wouldn’t that just make it worse than it is now? Although I do trust me and Cordelia could handle a rogue lady in waiting, I am particularly not fond of being attacked myself."

King Aleksander chuckled to himself.

"What’s funny, your majesty?" Elys grumbled, a hint of sarcasm in her last words.

It seemed like Aleksander just mocked her. What was the laugh for?

Elysianne’s eyes followed him as Aleksander turned sideways to glance at Lady Catalina. She now had her back leaning on the walls, her arms flailing as if defending herself from an attacker. The light that permeated from the open wide windows illuminated her agonized face.

"NO!!!" she shrieked.

Her eyes were red rimmed from keeping them wide open with little to no blinking at all. Aleksander snapped his finger’s and just as instantaneous, the lady in waiting was released from his magic.

Lady Catalina gasped and choked at her own saliva as she collapsed to the floor. Her hands were shaking, her strength utterly leaving her legs and preventing her to get up.

Aleksander went over to pick up all of the lady in waiting’s weapons that scattered about. He walked over to the windows where Elys sat about watching, and then threw the blades without much interest wherever it would land below them.

Hopefully no one was going to pass by to avoid accidents.

The young king then returned to where Lady Catalina lain on the floor, slightly unable to control herself and her shivering. Aleksander squatted and checked her sleeves, her skirt, as well as her chest for any other weapons she must have hidden beneath,

When he was finally satisfied and convinced Lady Catalina was clean, Aleksander grabbed a fist of her hair in his hand, and with it lifted her head to face him.

"Y-You b-b-b-baaastarrd..." Lady Catalina struggled to speak coherently.

Aleksander grinned widely and then responded in a mocking tone, "C-c-can’t y-you speak w-w-well?"

The lady in waiting felt she was being played with.

The bastard king leaned forward as his grip tightened on Lady Catalina’s hair.

He whispered into her ears and then said, "Did you have a nice dream? Perhaps think of it whenever you try to assassinate us again, bitch!"
