Chapter 231: Chapter 231 - Jobs

Eric carefully piped the batter in perfect circles on a well-oiled parchment sheet. He then taped the baking tray slightly to remove all the air bubbles. Placing it in a corner he went back to the batch he had pipped half an hour ago. The macaroons had developed a small film over their tops

"Sha, this batch is well rested. can you pop the in the oven?"

"Got it," Sha took the baking tray and placed them in the well-heated oven. "Is the buttercream done?"

"I’m on it," Eric rolled up his sleeves and started to make the strawberry-flavored filling for the macaroons. He had done it so many times in his life that making it was so easy. He simply scooped it into a piping bag. "What about the walnut cake? Are they decorated yet?"

"I have added icing to them. Now, all we have to do is get the boba cooked up."

Right then his phone rang loudly, disturbing their conversation.

Eric pulled it out of his pocket. "Hello?"

"master~ did you forget what day it is?"

Eric frowned slightly and glanced at his planner. Seeing a huge start drawn on the date, he paled. "Fuck I forgot."

"Forgot?! I am waiting at the airport! You shitty master, how can do this to a poor young girl." Yuna pretended to cry cutely.

Eric chuckled. "Our flight leaves at 10. We still have time, little student of mine."

"But we promised to get that cream sandwich from the place close to the airport. Huff, I am breaking up with you. Yuna cut the call in a flurry.

He hurriedly made a cream sandwich with a few strawberries and packed it for Yuna.

"Sha, I’ll be back next week. Can you run this place by yourself?" he removed his hairnet and gloves.

"Sure." sha shrugged.

Eric peered at his busy back with a smile. It had been just four years and little shadow’s cultivation has advanced so much. After he accepted Yuna as his student her grandfather gifted him a cultivation book that could help ghosts.

Thanks to that little shadow had attained a human form. He could only maintain it for twelve hours though.

He gently patted his shoulders. "don’t lag in your cultivation."

"I know Eric." Sha stood up and helped untie the apron around his hips. "You have to eat well. the last time you came back looking like a malnourished child. Why do you even take up this job." He pouted softly.

Eric patted his worrying hands. "There are ghosts like you in this world. I just want to help them."

Sha sighed. "Be safe. Don’t you dare risk your life."

Eric turned over and hugged him softly. "I know. Get back to work now."

Sha patted his head and went to make macaroons.

four years ago, he had quit school and taken up culinary school. Throughout all his classes little shadow had been with him watching and learning and the moment he got a human body he started to work for him.

"I’ll get going then."

"don’t forget to call your brother.!" Sha called from inside.

"I know." Eric rolled his eyes and walked out and gazed up at his café. Café Nari.

It was the store he had brought when he was eighteen. Yuna had lent him money though and with that he was finally able to have a shop of his own.

This small café was his pride and joy.

Eric shook his head softly.

It was the weekend and there was bound to be a good amount of crowd in their store. He had complete trust that sha can handle it on his own in the kitchen but the part-timers were the problem. he still did not get to train them well. sha might have to teach them.

His phone vibrated in his pocket again.

Seeing it was Yuna’s number he hurriedly caught a cab and rushed to the airport.

Yuna was waiting for him by the gets with two languages in hand. "my baby student, master is so sorry." He handed her the cream sandwich.

Yuna’s eyes brightened up instantly, "you’re reluctantly forgiven. Here/" she nodded to the bodyguard behind her. They pushed a small bag close. "I had them pack your things. Hope It will be enough for a week."

"Aww, my cutie baby you even packed my bags." He pinched her cheeks.

Yuan slapped his hand away. "This is the reason why gramps misunderstands you know."

"But I made it clear I’m only into penises."

Yuna laughed out loud. "You should have seen his face back when I told him that. god, I wish I had taken a photo. He looked so baffled and horrified."

"Poor old man." Eric dragged her into the airport and they got their baggage checked in. "do you have the case details?"

"Here," yuan passed it to him while chewing on the cream sandwich. "the victim is a twenty-five-year-old Caucasian female. Her parents noticed that she had been acting weird for a month and finally last week she collapsed. They couldn’t find anything wrong with her physically."

"hmm.." Eric gripped the case files tightly. This case was similar to what happened with Yuri. ’no... don’t think about him...’ he closed the file. "Anything else?"

"She is an art student from Colorado. She was dropping by her parents in Denmark for the holidays." Yuna licked the cream off her fingers. "Gods this tastes heavenly. How did you even make this?"

"With love."

"Very funny." Yuna smeared a bit of cream on his cheeks. "Your brother was whining about not joining us again."

Eric glanced her way. "Was he?"

"Yep, he was full-on complaining to gramps about how unfair it was, that he is your brother and that he must be there protecting you.," Yuna shrugged. "Gramps just made him bet on a game of chess and won. Poor Haolei had to stay behind again."

Eric sighed loudly. It had only been two years since they had started exorcism and every time, they had to face very powerful ghosts. His brother, who had joined in on mister wang’s bodyguard, always begged to join them. But He did not wish for his brother to get entangled in a dangerous situation like this. so he had requested Yuna’s grandfather to hold back Haolei in any way possible.

His pheon vibrated right then. It was Haolei calling.

Eric smiled and connect it. "Hi brother. How are you?"

"You’re leaving me again? I’m so mad Eric! Every single time you trick me into staying back!"

"you know how dangerous it is.... I don’t want you to get involved."

Haolei scoffed. "you take a young girl along but not a grown man like me. Are you looking down on me?"

"no no no! I would never. Yuan is a special case. She has yin-yang eyes so she can easily evade danger. But you can’t see ghosts..... it would be very very dangerous for you."

Haolei sighed. "Teach me cultivation then."

"I already gave you the yang cultivation book...." He said softly.

"I didn’t understand a thing in there! Ugh, I hate cultivation I hate ghosts!" he cut the call.

Eric chuckled. "He is pissed..."

"we’ll bring back some souvenirs and he will be happy in no time." Yuan nodded towards their gate. "let’s go."
