Chapter 230: Chapter 230 - Moving on

After a month in the hospital, Eric finally woke up.

Haolei took a break from his work and happily tended to him.

This morning he opened the window drapes letting in the fresh morning sunlight. "it’s such a pleasant morning. shall we go on a walk today?"

Eric blankly stared at the ceiling.

"I brought some watermelons. We can go smash them. I have invited Yuna to visit us. You remember Yuna right?"

Eric finally gazed at him. "Can I have my mobile phone?"

Haolei froze. "I... I think it’s too soon. Why don’t you watch some tv." He switched on the tv in the room. An old song was playing. He handed the remote to Eric. "What do you want for breakfast?"

Eric wordlessly took the remote. He silently kept changing the channels and when he ran out of channels to see he switched it off.

"Eric... you can’t stay in your room all your life."

Eric laid back down. "I want my phone."

"Your therapist will be here in an hour. If he agrees, I will give it to you." Haolei gazed at him hesitantly to his surprise Eric had a small smile on his face.

Haolei’s smiled back. ’I’m going to make some porridge and shrimp for lunch. Will that be okay?"

Eric’s blank eyes fell on him. The bright sunlight shone in, bringing a bit of life. "Brother... thank you for being there for me.... And I’m sorry I caused you so much trouble."

"no no, you never caused me any trouble," Haolei laid down next to him and hugged him in his arms. "I’ll always be there for you."

Eric snuggled against his warm neck. "and I’ll be there for you.. just give a bit of time to heal. This wound left by that person is still raw and festering."

Haolei wordlessly hugged him close. "Everything will heal in time, my baby. Everything will. I’ll be there for you when it gets difficult. I’ll be there for you when you’re sleepless. So, concentrate only on getting better."

Eric finally smiled. "hmmm... I’ll do that."

An hour later, his therapist came over. Eric talked to him about how he was feeling.

That pain from heartbreak had gotten much better than he had expected. But it was still there. Even when he closed his eyes, he could still remember the time he spend with bai in that white-walled world.

His brother had hired a good therapist though. The guy talked so calmly and even when he talked about ghosts and such, he never seemed phased.

he calmly gave him suggestions that he must go out at least for an hour a day and left.

Eric sat there in the afternoon sun thinking about this suggestion.

His brother was heard making something in the kitchen. Ever since he came to this world, he had been nothing but a bother to him. Because of his problems, his brother left the job he loved.

This brought his mood down even more.

’I.. I can’t stay like this forever. This is a new world. It was my fault for bringing in old feelings from my past world. I.. I am strong and I can move on. I will move on." He stood up and changed into a new pair of clothes.

Seeing him dressed in fresh clothes, Haolei smiled at him dazzlingly. "Shall we go for a walk now?"

Eric nodded.

His kind brother held his hand and led him out of the house. Right by the staircase he saw all the old ladies chatting happily. As soon as they spotted him, they ran to him and hugged him.

To his surprise, they all joined in on his walk chatting happily with him.

Looking at their cheerful smiles Eric finally felt his mod lift up ever so slightly.

They walked around the neighborhood buying snacks and whatnot.

Suddenly the problems and that dark feeling that had weighed him down seemed much lesser.

Eric gazed up at the sky with a soft smile. "I am going to get better. A guy is not worth me destroying my life." He teared up slightly. But he hurriedly wiped his face. "I just want to have fun and live my life. Nothing more."

"And that is what you will do." Haolei hugged him softly. The ladies followed, hugging him in a warm embrace.

Eric finally got the strength to move on.

In this life, he was not meant to be with Yuri.

It was a sad occurrence but it was not something worth death.

His life was precious.

And he would not waste it for anyone.

Late that evening, Yuna came over to find Eric cleaning his room. She paused by the door step with a small smile. "Finally, that black air around you is receding."

Eric just shrugged. "Yep, I’m trying to make a change."

"its good that you are," she sat down on his bed. "so, do you guys want to talk to my gramps? He has been waiting to see you,"

Eric gazed at the little shadow. The moment he woke up little shadow came and confessed what he had done. "I’m not ready to go out yet. Can we talk to him over a call or something?"

"That would work." She called him up and handed it to him.

A kind old man’s voice came over. "How are you doing little Eric? Do you still feel that cold energy around you? If so, stay close to your brother. You will get better soon."

"I’m fine now, sir. Thank you so much for saving my life. And I’m sorry for not talking to you sooner."

"its okay little boy."

Eric hesitantly gazed at Yuna and then at little ghost. "I.. I heard you asked for a favor. Can I know what it is about?"

"well, its very simple actually. I just want you to train my grandchild, Yuna. She also inherited yin-yang eyes; you see. If you can train her well ill be more than happy."

Yuna frowningly came up to him and plucked the phone out of his hands. "Gramps, I don’t want to learn about ghosts and whatnot."

"I know you are against it child, but you must learn. You are the only powerful priestess in our family after me.. As you grow old your powers will increase this in turn only attacks a lot of malicious ghosts your way. Please learn how to keep yourself safe."

Yuna pouted slightly. "But I’m scared of ghosts."

"You don’t seem that scared when you faced that young boy that day."

Yuan accusingly gazed at little shadow. "Its because I know he is harmless. grampa.. I"

"I’ll train her." Eric intervened in their conversation.

Yuna just gaped at him and shook her head.

"Good I’ll leave her in your hand. Let her stay with you and when she has finally learned everything send her back home. Until then, bye my baby." he cut the call right after.

"Was I just abandoned?"

"I think so." Eric chuckled softly. "don’t worry, ill teach you everything I know." He led a dazed yuan to his bed and sat her down. "Where do you want to start?"

Yuan massaged her head. "Let’s not start so soon." She laid down on the bed and patted the spot next to her.

Eric joined her.

"When are you going to come back to school? I miss you already."

"I’m not going back to school," Eric said resolutely

Yuan frowned. "I thought you were getting better."

"I am getting better. But there is a small situation. If I see books, I feel sick." He tightly clenched the sheet. The last time he read a physics book he inadvertently caused his system interface to crash. He did not want that. he did not want to be found by the men in black. He would rather stay illiterate than risk his own life.

Yuna sat up with a small sigh. "Then what are your life plans?"

"I.. I don’t have any."

"You can’t just stay idle all your life. You have to do something. Find a hobby. Do you like painting, or are you interested in some sport?"

"Baking. I want to learn to bake."

His brother secretly liked sweet snacks a lot. But every time he bought something sweet, he would offer it to him first.

"I want to bake something for Haolei."

"Then let’s make it your life goal. If you are going to be a pastry chef, you have to be the best of the best to make a living out of it. are you ready to put your all into it?"

Eric sat up with a wide grin. "Yeah. I’m ready."
