Chapter 133: Chapter 133 - Impending doom

The next few days were sort of mundane. Kang drove to and forth to college and the classes were going smoothly. The only issue is his exams were nearing and he had not prepared a thing.

Kang tapped on the table in frustration as he thought of the issue that raises with exams. He did not have notes. If it was a few days ago, he would not have had any issue regarding this. Ruth would have shared all the notes. But now they were in an awkward situation.

Ruth confessed his love and revealed shocking information that used to be lovers in the past.

He really didn’t want to stay close to him. because he feared that he might cause a greater misunderstanding.

As he thought this, he felt a heated gaze on the side of his face. he knew exactly who it was and refused to look his way.

"Psst," a person close to him poked his arm.

"Huh?" Kang glanced back.

"Here," the guy passed a small folded paper crane to him.

Frowning, he refused to take it from him. "What is this?"

That guy simply pushed it into his hands.

Stunned, Kang peered at the paper crane. This small origami crane reminded him so much of his desperate situation. When he was a system, he would often write his wishes down on paper and fold them into a crane shape in hopes that it will come true.

’Heck it did...’ he unfolded the decently folded crane and read the contents. soon a frown marred his brow.

Only three words were written on it. "My lap dog,"

he glanced back at the guy with a deep frown. "Who is this from?"

The guy just shrugged. "Someone from behind,"

Kang peered back at the huge lecture room. The place was shaped like a semicircle with a raked floor. He was sitting just two seats before the back beach.

His narrowed eyes searched for any familiar faces. But he could not see anyone.

Suddenly a suspicion hit him. he glanced at Ruth. He was looking his way with a lovelorn face.

’Did he send this?’

He held up the paper note and raised a brow.

Ruth genuinely looked confused, reading the content.

"So, it was not him," he scrunched up the paper and showed it in his pocket.

To be fair the term lap dog might seem like a very generic cuss word. But to him, it evoked a different feeling.

it was fear.

The late-night nightmares that plagued him always portrayed a man sitting on a dark throne with a whip in hand. He would call him his lap dog with a weird smirk on his lips.

Kang shuddered just thinking about it... ’it’s just a nightmare Kang.. you don’t have to be scared of this shit...’

After that small incident, everything went back to normal and he too forgot about that crumbled-up paper on hand.

The class ended right on time and Kang hurriedly packed his bag to leave.

"Wait Kang!" Ruth pushed past many students to reach him.

’oh shit, no no no, I am not getting close to this person,’ he sacrificed a few of his books to run away.

His lover was still watching him from that same house. if he spotted Ruth getting close to him he did not know what he might do. ’Who knows? He might even shoot him down. Don’t want that do I...’

He rushed away and ran into a busy hallway.

’Kang, I need to talk to you!" Ruth shouted.

Kang glanced back. "I don’t want to talk," he rounded the corner when all of a sudden, a huge body collided with his. He unsteadily fell to the ground. A searing pan shot through his back. "hiss...." He patted his ass glaring up at the figure.

To his surprise it was Altren. He was standing there looking down at him with an unknown look in his eyes.

"Why are you standing there like a statue? Help me up," he held up his hand.

Altren did not react at all. He dully looked at him.

glaring at him, he pulled himself up. "What is up with you? huh?"

Again, Altren looked at him rather blankly.

"Altren... hey... is everything okay?"

"Altren~" a soft voice called from behind his big buddy. A small petite guy held Altren’s arm, "oh hey Kong, why are you standing like that? did you break your back or something?" Jake teasingly smirked at him.

Zhu Kang went pale. "why are you here? A-Altren.. why aren’t you home?"

Jake pouted. "He came to see me, of course." He snuggled up his arm. "isn’t that right, my teddy bear?"

Altren glanced down at him with a sickly-sweet smile. "yes, my honey boo,"

"Aww you are so cute... let’s go have our lunch outside. canteen food is not that great," Jake waved at him casually and dragged Altren away corm him.

All along, Zhu Kang watched them frozen in shock. With trembling hands, he hurriedly called his brother’s number.

"Go," Gwyn said softly.

"b-brother.... Is Altren home..."

Gwyn went silent for a second. "I don’t think so. I saw him sneaking out a few times. Why do you ask?"

Kang’s face went paler than a sheet of paper. "I-it’s nothing. I’ll call you back," he cut the call.

For a whole minute, he stood there frozen in shock. He still couldn’t believe it. Altren and Jake.... They were together again.

’How did this happen? I was watching them carefully. How could this happen..... There must be some kind of mistake...’

Someone grabbed his arm.

"Kang...." Ruth peered down at him. "Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself. Wait I’ll take you to the infirmary," he tried to lift him up.

But Kang hurriedly dodged his arms. "I’m fine! just leave me alone!" he ran away.

He ran to the deserted art room to his right and banged the door shut. His heart was racing with fear.

He had long forgotten the actual fate of this world and enjoyed the benefits. Now everything was going to change, Altren will destroy this world.

’I have to stop it! how... wait need to calm down first,’ he took a deep breath and waited until his pounding heart slowed down to the normal speed. ’Altren was acting weird. why? Did something happen? Did... did Jake use any system marketplace stuff on him... like a love portion?’

’System! tell me right now. was it a love portion?!’

System refused to answer him.

He closed his eyes tightly. "Fuck." He tightly held his head and squeezed it. ’if I had done my tasks properly and brought a protective talent or something Altren would not have fallen like this. shit, I need to do something. System, give me my tasks, both daily tasks and target task! Right now!’

A hand suddenly grabbed his wrist.

He stumbled back, pushing this person away. "Ruth stop following me!"

"Zhu open your eyes. Look at me. it’s me Aaron," he once again gently held his wrist. He pulled his stiff lover close and hugged him. ’shh... take a deep breath... follow my breathing, okay?"

Kang glanced up at him with a devastated face. "What have I done... it’s all gone now... this world will not fare. We all will die. I don’t want to die. I don’t want you to die... I want to live with you," he sobbed.

Listening to this, Aaron frowned deeply. "Why do you think we all will die?" he tentatively asked.

Kang sniffled. "The dark stars are together. They will destroy the world. Aaron... Aaron, they will kill everyone. Fried to KFC! I don’t want to be human kfc! I don’t even think they smell good," he cried loudly.

Aaron did not want to aggravate him any further so he gently hugged him. Kang cried his heart out and after an hour or so he fell asleep.

Sitting on the uncomfortable lecture room, Aaron held his lover on his lap carefully.

’Dark stars? Did he mean Altren and that small guy...’

He too had witnessed this exchange from his hiding place. To be honest he was very confused. His nephew had begged him to take a break from college to accompany Gwyn at home. But here he was, strutting the college campus with a petite dude in his arm. It was all weird.

’I should have a chat with him,’ he lifted his lover firmly in his arm and kissed his pale cheeks.

He had sent a message to request leave for Kang and flew home.

Gwyn who was in the hallway also noticed the commotion of him entering with his unconscious brother. He followed him up.

he securely placed Kang on the bed and tucked him in.

"Why is he like this? did you do something?" Gwyn growled loudly.

Aaron watched his lover’s eyebrows frown ever so slightly.

"Shh," he glanced back at the annoying brother. "let’s talk outside," he pulled him out and closed the door.

"What happened to my baby brother!"

"I need to ask you something. What happened between you and Altren? Two days ago, he was happy to stay home now he is in college. Did you guys have a fight?’

Gwyn frowned. "No, that guy has been clingy as always. why do you ask?"

"Nothing.... Just wanted to confirm something,"

Aaron left for his study and accused all of his security cameras. for Kang brother’s safety, he had instated a few cameras in the house. Now it came in handy.

He searched through yesterday’s feed.

In the morning His nephew still had that silly smile as he followed Gwyn. There was no change till noon. But in the evening his nephew went out.

He followed the cameras to the outdoor cameras. To his surprise one of the cameras facing the main door was static.

’I daily check the cameras. how did this happen...’
