The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance -
Chapter 57: Temper
Chapter 57: Temper
Violet felt as though the entire world had collapsed on her.
She blankly asked, "What?"
Sylas calmly explained, "Her heart beat rate is way too slow, and since her health is already fragile, she wouldn’t be able to sustain for even five more minutes."
All of a sudden, Violet felt suffocated, unable to breathe. Her head spun in dizziness, feeling heavy.
"No, that can’t be it. The other day, she was happy, making plans with me to visit the beach. She wanted to recover and do a lot of things. I promised to do it with her.
How can she be dying? This has to be some kind of joke. There was new treatment available, and she was going to get better. Why did it happen?" Violet mumbled.
Her hazel eyes then fell on Anna’s lifeless body. Those gloomy eyes were covered in tears, falling down her ashen cheeks. Unable to control her intense emotions, Violet punched her head.
"This is all my fault! She had to die because of me! I killed her! If it weren’t for me, she would be jumping around, making plans for what to do once she recovered!
But I ruined it all! Why do I kill everyone around me!? At this point, I should be the one to die! That’s right. Maybe I should just kill myself and that would make everything better."
Violet’s heightened emotions made her fall into a panicked state. Seeing how Violet was hurting herself in self-blame, Sylas grabbed on to her shoulder.
Sylas was taken aback for a second. Those round, bright hazel eyes were now dull, losing their spark, as water incessantly fell down from her.
"Calm down," Sylas stated.
But Violet did not pay heed to his word, pulling away from him. She scratched her hands, leaving marks on them, while she coughed violently— her body crouched down. Her boss started to bleed, as she started to go into a shock. Her cries and voice came out broken.
Mathew, on the other way, chose this moment of distraction to escape with his werewolves. Embarrassed by how he was beaten to a state where he could barely move, he ordered his wolves to carry him back.
As he was leaving, he thought back to the intense golden eyes of Sylas. He had seen them before, and only then did it hit him.
’It was him!’
Realizing how Violet was no where near calming down, Sylas silently stared at her for few seconds before taking in a deep breath. He then spoke out, "I can save her."
Violet paused for a second hearing that. Her hoarse voice held signs of obvious expectations as she asked, "You can?"
Didn’t he just say a moment ago how there are no chances for Anna’s survival?
The next second, Sylas slashed his wrist with his claw, blood oozing out. Under her perplexed gaze, Sylas brought his wrist towards Anna’s mouth. The red blood touched her lips, one drop at a time— entering her slightly parted mouth.
"You— what is this?" Violet hiccuped.
"She should wake up tomorrow. After all, she is just a child and had gone through a lot of trauma," explained Sylas.
"Really?" Violet carefully questioned.
"Will I lie?"
Violet shook her head, feeling relieved. "It’s good if she recovers. It’s all good. But your hand, your blood, what’s going on, Alpha?"
Her head ached badly, and Violet could barely hold on. She had a hard time processing everything and wanted to badly take a rest for now.
"How could you carelessly come here just to rescue a human?" reprimanded Sylas.
"Anna got in trouble because of me. I couldn’t leave her be." Her voice became softer.
Then, her eyes closed, and she leaned on Sylas’s shoulder, whispering, "And I always knew you would come, Alpha."
°°°
Violet sat on her bed. Her head was wrapped in bandage. She watched Lydia listlessly as the woman brought over her medicine. Violet instantly swallowed down the drugs.
"Anna, how is she doing?" Violet questioned.
"The little girl is recovering well. Lucas will go to check up on her today since he brought her over to her parents. Now that she has Alpha’s blood flowing through her, nothing should be an issue."
This reminded Violet about how Sylas fed the child his blood.
Violet questioned, "Why did the Alpha feed his blood?"
She hadn’t seen the precedent for this before and was confused.
"Alpha’s blood is quite special. When one consumes it, they gain many benefits. And how he cured Anna is one of them," Lydia informed.
Violet blinked her eyes, trying to process that. This was the first time she had heard of it.
"This is a sensitive topic for Alpha and not many knows of it. He became victim to many unnecessary situations because of this. However, for him to heal Anna for your sake, you mean a lot to Alpha," Lydia vocalized.
Hearing this made Violet stare at Lydia in disbelief.
"Even your health, the reason you’re recovering is because the Alpha transfused his blood to you. This time, it wasn’t me who asked him for it. Well, no dares to unless they want to stay alive.
But he took his own initiative to donate his blood to you, and now, for you, he gave his blood to the little girl. According to Alpha, this is his responsibility," Lydia spoke out.
The more she heard, the more confused Violet felt. It made her realize she truly did not understand Sylas— not even a bit.
"Why?" Violet questioned.
Lydia shrugged her shoulders.
"This is something you should talk with the Alpha about," Lydia said, patting on her shoulder comfortingly.
Violet pulled her lips into a thin line.
°°°
Violet stood silently in front of Sylas’s door, contemplating on whether or not to knock. After ignoring the man for few days, now trying to interact with him made her feel awkward.
Biting down on her lower lip, Violet summoned the courage within her to extend her hand and knock.
"Enter," ordered Sylas.
After she took a deep breath, Violet turned the knob and stepped into the room. Closing the door behind her, she noticed the room was dimly lit by a lamp. Sylas sat on the couch with a book in his hand, and a warm light was cast on his face.
"I thought you would be pondering around my room for longer," Sylas commented.
Violet’s cheeks flushed.
It seemed that the Alpha had already noticed her presence.
Then, Violet spoke out, "I heard from Lydia that you gave your blood to Anna in order to keep her alive. You even supplied your blood to me when you hate others bringing up how your blood is special."
Out of nervousness, Violet’s voice came out louder than expected.
Sylas arched up his brow.
"Why, Alpha? You could just let both Anna and me die, and it wouldn’t have affected you. Why did you have to go and do something that makes you uncomfortable?" Violet questioned.
Violet’s heart felt heavy. She let out all the intense emotions she felt throughout this entire time in her voice. Her eyes reddened— tears welling up in them.
Sylas stared at her helplessly. "Why do you cry so easily?"
"I don’t cry easily! Even when Mathew beat me up, I didn’t shed a tear," Violet vocalized, "you can’t avoid my question, Alpha."
"Oh? You ignored my presence for so many days, and on what grounds are you coming here to question me," Sylas pointed out.
Violet felt more wronged when she heard Sylas mention this.
It was obviously Alpha who wished to avoid her, and now, he was pinning all the blame on her head.
"I didn’t," Violet defended herself.
"You played around with everyone, but I didn’t even hear the sound of you greeting me one day. Are you trying to lie here?"
"Alpha, it was you who didn’t want to interact with me. You threw the cake I baked away and slammed the door shut on my face. I thought you wanted me to stay away, and that’s what I did. How can you accuse me now?"
A trail of tear fell down her cheek as she stubbornly stomped her feet on the ground. Violet’s tone showed how she suffered from great injustice.
"So, just because of how I threw the cake and closed the door you decided to throw that temper around? You have quite the courage, Violet," Sylas spoke out.
It was just not that.
Violet could feel Sylas’s coldness then.
"Alpha, you’re being mean again," Violet commented, pouting.
"Then, are you going to go off to ignoring me again because I wasn’t nice to you for a while? You have high demands, Violet," Sylas teased. "What else are your requirements?"
Violet stayed quiet for a couple of seconds before saying, "I won’t ignore you again, Alpha. No matter how mean you are and even if you have your mood swings, I will endure it all."
There was amusement in Sylas’s eyes. "Why? Because you learned I saved your life through my blood?"
Violet shook her head before nodding midway.
"Since you are so good to me, I should be the same as well although I can’t repay you. That’s why, Alpha, you can truly tell me how you are feeling, and I will listen to it no matter how rude it is," Violet honestly expressed.
The corner of Sylas’s eyes curved up. The smile reflected in his eyes looked more genuine than before.
Violet’s heart skipped a beat.
"So, you won’t ignore me if I throw the cake you baked again?" Sylas questioned.
"Alpha, it is not good to waste food!"
