Chapter 56: Bloodline
Chapter 56: Bloodline
However, Violet’s success did not last long. While her eyes focused on Mathew, Mathew glanced at one of the werewolves, and before Violet was able to react, Anna was snatched away from her.
Through her covered mouth, a muffled cry came out as she tried to hold on to Violet. But her strength failed her, landing her at the hands of the beasts. Her eyes were frozen with horror.
And as Violet was about to rescue Anna, Mathew zoomed towards her before she could properly track his motions. He grabbed on to her hand, twisted it to let her lose her grip on the gun.
Mathew then stepped on the gun, applying strength to crush the gun. His eyes flashed red while he sneered at her. "Was this tiny thing what you wanted to threaten me with? Now, you’re helpless, Bitch. What are you going to do?"
Mathew’s claws dug into her, stinging her. Although Violet was easy to cry, she refused to let Mathew have the pleasure to see her shed tears.
"Mathew, if you hurt any one of us today, don’t think about safely returning to your pack," Violet shot at him. "Wasn’t the beating Lucas gave you last time enough? You never learn, do you?"
Mathew grabbed her head and slammed it against the wall. As a sharp pain penetrated through her head, making the world around her spin for a second, Violet bit down on her lower lip to prevent her from making a sound of pain.
"Shut up, you fucking whore! Last time you got lucky, but this time around, no one is going to come in time to save you.
Even if I kill you here, no one is going to know I did it. I am the Alpha of the Blue Rise pack. Those mutts you hang around with are lowly rogues. Once I get rid of you, I will fucking finish them all!" Mathew exclaimed.
A mocking laugh left Violet’s mouth. She wondered where he got the confidence from.
"You’re simply a rat who climbed up from the gutter, and at the end of the day, that’s your destination. Mathew, stop dreaming with your eyes wide open. It’s hilarious," Violet vocalized.
Although Violet knew how to use sweet words to please others, she didn’t lack the ability to be vicious when there was a need for it.
Mathew, enraged, grabbed one of her hands and twisted it. A groan left her mouth followed the sound of her hand cracking. He then held her by the back of her hair and pulled her back.
"Why don’t I let you do a tiny favor? I will let the girl go as long as you beg me. What about that?"
Thinking about this excited Mathew. No matter how much torture Violet was put through before, she remained unyielding. It was as though she would rather die than bow down her head to him.
This got under his nerves.
When he, as the Alpha, had to flatter others even now, why did she get to hold her head high? He wanted to break her spirits and have her collapse beyond recovery. Those pairs of bright hazel eyes reminded him of the major difference in bloodline between her and him.
"What makes you think I will believe you?" Violet retorted. "You promised me you will let go of her once you get me. But now, it seems you’re not holding your end of the bargain. If you want to kill me, just do it already."
Violet raised her head, offering her neck.
Although she spoke as though nothing scared her, deep down, apprehension quickly built up within her. Violet was trying to stall for time as much as possible, hoping Alpha would see the message and arrive.
Upon Mathew’s instruction, the werewolf holding on to Anna removed the tape from her voice and tightly held on to her, causing the girl to cry out in pain. Also, because Anna was suffering from illness, she was in a half-conscious state.
Violet struggled making a decision. Knowing it was no time for her to hold on to her pride, she stared at Mathew with pleading eyes.
"Please, please, let go of her, alright? She is unwell. She wouldn’t be able to do survive this. I am willing to do anything, please just don’t hurt her," Violet begged.
Mathew released her, and unable to stabilize herself, she leaned against the tree trunk. His red eyes then viciously stared at her as he ordered, "Kneel down to me."
Having left with no options, Violet lowered her line of sight and fell down on her knees. In a cracked voice then, she said, "Please, please, let go of her."
Mathew laughed heartily. "Violet, oh, Violet, the fucking pampered princess of the Blue Rise pack— that deceased father of yours is probably having his intestines twisted in pain now in the grave, wishing to come alive so that he can personally rip me apart, looking at your state now.
But what can he do? That old moron looked down on me my entire life, told me I am not worthy of you, but at the end what happened, he begged me to take good care of you and handed the pack down to me. Look at me now, I am taking good care of you."
Violet took in a deep breath, trying to hold back her temper. In an unusually calm voice, she expressed, "Let go of Anna now."
"Fine, it’s time for me to keep my end of the deal. I will let her go."
Violet expectantly watched as the werewolf released Anna. Just as Violet was about shout at the semi-conscious Anna to run away, her eyes widened in horror and her face froze as the claw of the werewolf slashed against Anna’s back, sending the girl flying off.
It took Violet few seconds to process the situation before she shouted, "Anna! Anna! Are you alright? Let go of me! Fucking let go of me!"
Violet struggled against Mathew’s grip, but she remained helpless. He laughed heartily seeing how the color drained out of Violet’s face. Her anxiety and fear made him feel content.
"Is it funny?"
As soon as that voice came, Mathew felt a chill travel down his back, and an unprecedented pressure suffocated him. Sylas emerged from the dense forest. Although those steely blue eyes were smiling, the sinister, murderous intent wasn’t hidden.
The smile on Mathew’s face dropped fast, and his nervous system was alarmed, asking him to escape from here.
However, before Mathew could react, Sylas flashed forward, grabbing him by throat and pushing him against the tree trunk. Without giving Mathew the chance to breathe, Sylas dashed past many trees and slammed him against all.
Violet’s leg weakened, and she pathetically fell down on the ground. Her eyes went towards Sylas for a second, and relief spread through her chest.
She watched as the man raised Mathew by grabbing his neck. There was a cruel, sadistic smile on Sylas’s face. His eyes flashed golden, indicating how he was on the verge of losing his control.
"Why are you not laughing anyone?" Sylas questioned— his velvety voice came out deeper than before, caring a sense of oppression.
Mathew was covered in blood from thrashed around. He tried to attack Sylas back, but he remained helpless. Sylas threw him against the ground and kicked him repeatedly, playing him like a football.
Violet, feeling weak in her knees, clumsily made her way over to Anna. Her heart clenched when she touched the unconscious girl.
Not finding the courage within her to check up on her, Violet called in a broken tone: "Alpha, can you come here?
However, Sylas concentration was on Mathew.
"Alpha!" Violet cried out loudly in desperation.
That caught Sylas’s attention. He saw battered and bleeding Violet stare at him with pleading tears in her eyes. Her hand held on to a child’s body.
Sylas felt uncomfortable within him.
He made his way over to Violet quickly and looked at her questioningly.
"Can you please check on her?" Violet questioned, placing her trust on him. For her, Sylas was a reliable figure who could solve all the problems.
Sylas furrowed his brows but did as Violet wanted. He turned over the child. Her back was badly injured. Placing his fingers on her neck, he felt for her vitality.
Then, in a solemn tone, he responded, "She won’t survive."
