The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance -
Chapter 49: Murder
Chapter 49: Murder
Mathew smiled at the receptionist politely and greeted, "Hello, I am here to visit a friend, Violet Blackwood. May I know which room she is in?"
"Violet Blackwood," the receptionist enunciated, "let me check."
"Alright, thank you. I have been worried sick about her and couldn’t contact her. Then, I learned she was admitted here due to serious illness," Mathew informed— his voice tinged with hint of sadness.
Violet watched sneakily from behind the wall as Mathew had the conversation with the receptionist. The receptionist then pointed towards the direction of her room.
Violet was about to call Lucas and the rest to inform when she realized that she kept her phone inside the room. Cursing mentally, Violet knew she had to get out from here.
"Anna, you go back to your room. You can’t let him be aware you know me, alright?" Violet voiced out. Even if she got caught, she couldn’t let Anna be implicated.
Violet’s shaky tone made Anna nervous. "What’s the matter, Violet? Should I call my parents? If he is a really bad guy, they can help protect you. Also, I can ask the security guards to help kick him out of the hospital. Don’t be scared."
Violet shook her head.
Most in the hospital were humans. They wouldn’t be able to deal with Mathew.
Violet switched to a more solemn tone.
"Anna, listen to me. Quietly go back to your room or else I will be mad and won’t play with you. Got it?"
Anna stared at her for a second.
Violet patted her cheek and ran away from there. She needed to hide herself before Mathew found her.
Anna, on the other hand, hurried towards the direction of her room. On the way, she was spotted by her mother and stopped.
"What are you doing running around? Didn’t the doctor say it’s too dangerous for you!? Do you want to faint again?" her mother scolded.
Anxiety could be seen on Anna’s face when she said, "Mom, you need to save Violet. There is a bad guy after her. She is—"
"Violet, you say. Do you know Violet?"
When the man’s voice reached into her ear, Anna raised her head to find Mathew standing there, looking at her with a smile. That frightened her, reminding her how Violet told her not to let him know how she was there.
Anna shook her head— her trembling eyes giving her out. "I don’t know Violet. You misheard. Don’t interrupt me when I am talking to my mom."
Her hostile attitude made her mom look at her in disapproval. She smiled at Mathew and said, "Well, Violet is a friend my daughter made recently at the hospital. May I ask who you are?"
"Violet is my wife. Recently, we had disagreements between us, and you know with the pregnancy hormones, she had been emotional and ran away from the house.
She is very much sick, and in her state, it is not good for her to run around like that. That’s why, I want to apologize and take her back. Can you let me know where she is?" Mathew’s voice made him sound like a broken hearted lover.
Anna’s mom showed sympathy towards him.
"Oh, I was wondering where her husband was. No matter what, she is pregnant and sick. You can’t make her angry."
Mathew nodded. "Yeah, I understand. Violet is a little silly. She can be oddly stubborn at times, but no matter what, as her husband, I need to give in to her."
"When I was coming over, I saw her there," Anna’s mother voiced out, pointing towards a direction.
"Mom, how could you tell him!? He’s a weirdo! Violet hates him!" Anna exclaimed loudly.
"Anna, stay out of adult’s matters. Now, get back to your room," her mother reprimanded.
However, when Mathew was about to walk towards Violet’s direction after thanking Anna’s mother, Anna ran forward, grabbing on to Mathew’s hand and biting into it harshly to stop him.
"Stop! You can’t go there! Violet said you’re a bad guy! Stay away from her!" Anna yelled, throwing a tantrum.
Mathew grew irritated and was about to fling her off when Anna’s mother rushed forward, shocked, and pulled her daughter off of him. Anna struggled but failed to do so under her mom’s grip.
Her mother glared at her.

Violet climbed up the stairs about to get to the rooftop when she heard the footsteps behind her. Her heart beat rapidly in her chest, and her instincts screamed for her to run away.
She hurried towards the rooftop and was about to lock the door quickly when she felt a force push on it from the other side. Her eyes widened when Mathew’s face came in front of her.
"It’s funny how you think you could hide from me when your scent is all over the place," Mathew commented, sneering.
Violet fell into a panic, trying to push the door further, but her strength couldn’t compare to that of Mathew’s. As Mathew applied force on the door, Violet stumbled backwards.
Her hazel eyes warily stared at Mathew. Mathew observed Violet for a second. Although she grew weaker and thinner, it could be seen she was well taken care of to have this much of strength. The slight curve of her stomach revealed how she kept the child.
"You, bitch, you created quite a lot of trouble for me, didn’t you? Now, it’s pay back time," Mathew spoke out, taking slow, deliberate steps towards her.
Violet thought she would have a bit of heartache towards him, but the only feelings she possessed were disgust and hatred. She wished to simply torture just to get back all the injustice she suffered.
She didn’t even wish to know how he truly felt about her all those years or if there was one time he felt pity towards her.
"Mathew, do you think you will be able to get away if you hurt me today? Alpha Sylas and the rest, they are going to find out. When they do, it will be bad for you," Violet stated resolutely.
After the initial fear, she could face him calmly, aware that he feasted delightfully on her emotions.
"Right, you have that Alpha Sylas protecting you now. Why? Why is he so devoted to you!? Because of you, I am in so much trouble now!
Could it that you were a good slut as always, seduced him and got into his bed? Did you treat him so well in bed that he is willing to be manipulated by you?
That’s what you’re good at after all. Does he know what a dirty whore you are? Can he keep you satisfied or could it be that you hooked up with the one as well?" Mathew spat.
Violet felt nausea rise within her at his words.
"Mathew, simply because you’re dirty doesn’t mean I am the same. Right, it makes sense for you and Bella to be envious of me. After all, my birth was a shameful event like yours.
See, even now, I have those who wholeheartedly support me, and as for you, who do you have by your side? Maybe I might not be able to get my pack back, but what about you? After all those efforts, do you think you will be able to keep the pack?" Violet retorted.
Maybe the best option for her right now would be to distract him and run away, but Violet couldn’t stop herself from provoking him.
Watching his face contort in anger gave her joy.
However, the next instant, he rushed forward and grabbed her by her throat, lifting her high.
"You talk a lot for someone who is powerless against me. How long do you think it will take for me to snap your neck?" Mathew threatened.
Violet did not lose her momentum. Smirking, she retorted, "Try it. Because I felt it was unfair, Alpha Sylas took the rights of the mine from you. What do you think he would do if he found me killed by you? Do you think the council will touch him even if he kills you?"
Mathew’s grip on her loosened for a second. His rationality and emotions were fighting against each other.
"You can let go of me now, and I can forget about this fight between us. What about it?" Violet offered.
Mathew stared at her dazed for a while before he tightened his hold on her.
"You got me there for a second, but I am not letting go of you. I can always murder you and mark it as an accident. No one will then prevent my path to being the Alpha. If I keep you alive, you will only grow up like a weed," Mathew vocalized.
"You— even if I am not alive, you will never get to be the Alpha cause you’re one incompetent lowly bastard." Violet managed to speak out.
She could feel her consciousness slowly leaving when she heard the sound of the door slam open, and the next instant Mathew was pushed away from her.
