The Return Of His Ex Wife
Chapter 41: A Dirty Slap

Chapter 41: A Dirty Slap

Derek’s POV

Sitting before me was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Every time I saw Tara now, it started to dawn on me why I married her in the first place.

"How dare you raise your voice at me? Are you so stupid not to realize we’re in a public place, you moron??" She said with an intimidating glance that made me shiver.

This was what made me disgusted about her now; her pride. This woman used to be heads over heels for me before. What happened??

"I didn’t even do anything, calm down Tara." I frowned, "you’ve been unnecessarily angry at me since we met here. What exactly did I do wrong?"

"Who said you did anything wrong?" She rolled her eyes.

"I’m the one who’s supposed to be angry, you know? Why do you keep getting involved in my family business? What did Desdra ever even do that caused you to sue her to court!" I tried to make my voice bold and demanding but it didn’t seem to have any effect on her, in fact that was when she leaned back on the chair and relaxed, crossing her legs.

"I still don’t understand why you have a problem with me. Tell me, Derek." This time, she leaned forward, those pretty eyes mesmerizing my view. "You and your shameless family threw me away as soon as you cheated on me with Melissa. And now that I’m gone, you won’t stop calling me bad names and you all just seem to hate me."

"Hate you? I don’t even give a damn about you. I just wish you would stop throwing yourself at me like a slut. Didn’t you say we were over? Why do you keep trying to get my attention. I mean, why did you sigh the partnership deal then?"

A hint of mocking smile appeared on her face. "Because I love helping the charity."

My face heated as soon as she said that. "Charity? You keep saying that because you don’t know my net-worth now." My cheeks was flustered with embarrassment because she wasn’t so wrong. Our family was in a lot of debt lately and Tara might be richer than me now. That thought was unsettling!

"Is that so? Is it with all of your debts or minus it?"

"Okay you don’t have any shame is that it? If you think you’re richer than I or my sister, then why do you keep doing silly things like this? Is it not to get noticed by us? What, are you so lonely you don’t have a man to keep you warm at night anymore? You miss me, don’t you?"

"I thought you were smart enough so I could reason with you and save your sister’s ass. I mean, even after this..." she typed something on her phone and I received a notification from my own end. "I was about to have mercy on her and forgive her, but it seems she doesn’t need my help at all and she wants me to go to hell. Instead, I’m sending her there," and with that, Tara got up.

"Hey, what about us talking? Is this it? You’re just here to rub on my face how rich you’ve gotten?"

"I’m still thinking. Are you worth it, or are we better off without you?" Her nose scrunched in disgust as she eyed me up and down before walking away.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean??" I rolled my eyes. Checking through my phone I saw that Tara had forwarded an audio to me. I clicked on it and Desdra’s voice began to boom.

"How dare you! You think I should fear you? That I will be afraid of your little threats? Defamation of character and loss earnings and emotional distress...ha! I don’t give a fuck. You can go to hell for all I care! I don’t—"

I couldn’t bare to play the rest. "Are you kidding me, Desdra??" This was more than enough proof to send to the judge since Tara could just say that Desdra was now threatening her after all of her offense stated. And if she wasn’t careful, that fool Desdra could actually go to jail!

I called out to my pa, Ronaldo. "Hey, what really is the offense of my sister? Forward me the details right now."

Desdra POV

I still didn’t understand why my brother made it compulsory for me to meet him at work. Could it still be about this bitch Tara case?

"Relax, will you?" I tried to sound tough, it was really starting to get annoying as Derek paced around the room in his office.

"The best case scenario, you’ll be asked to pay a settlement of two million dollars."

My mouth hung wide open. Where would I see that now that my business was failing?? "What the hell! How’s that even best case scenario??"

"Worse case, you’ll be going to jail for two years." By this time after Derek had announced, I could feel myself shivering.

"But...we’re rich. How much is 2 million dollars that we can pay!" I said and he looked at me with a murderous glance.

"I said best case scenario. We’d have to hear from her lawyer, that’s if she doesn’t turn in that stupid voice-note you sent her like a moron. That will definitely compliment case because it can turn your report into that of a criminal! It can appear to the court that you assaulted Tara over the phone."

"Stop it stop it!" I had to cut him off to stop scaring me. I’d had enough. "You know what, if you’re going to cower at her feet here like the coward that you are, excuse me to go make some phone calls." I lied. I didn’t know who to call. Everyone kept ignoring my calls and messages, and Tom hasn’t picked any of my calls since yesterday!

"Where are you even going to? If you love yourself sister, you should start asking for a loan. And fast. Then maybe Tara would see how poor you are and actually have mercy on you."

"Whatever. You know what, ever since you let your coward self push her away seven years ago, you know that you have never and will never forgive yourself for this. Ha! Keep on dreaming that that child with her is yours. You are stuck with that moron you call wife, that’s even if Nina is your real daughter because god knows who the bell this psycho is telling everyone Nina is his baby."

And with that I stormed out, not even looking back. Truly, where was I going to? I didn’t know! I just needed to get out of here quickly.

"Okay, if you’re so poor, you should probably start selling some of your stuff, how much for my latest hand bag? Uh two thousand grand? Damn it, most of the clothes I wear aren’t even mine. They’re rentals for my social media page!"

I kept on talking to myself like a mad woman on the road. I had called my driver to meet me outside of Derek’s company but here I was walking away from him and into..."oh there’s a bar right there."

Even my followers had began to drop drastically now. I’d lost over ten thousand followers over night. Instead, Derek would not shut up about how Tara has gained fame overnight and lots of investors, and how I had made an attempt to ruin the Marisol household reputation.

I was at the entrance of the bar now when it dawned on me again the kind of trouble I was in.

"Did I know this would turn out like this!" I fought back a tear that had gathered in my eyes. Then out of the blue, Tom picked up. "Hey you? Where have you been all this while I’ve been trying to reach you! Do you know how much trouble you’ve put me in now?? Do you—"

"Oh so it’s really you?" A woman’s voice said, making me frown.

"Who the hell are you supposed to be? Give the phone to Tom right now!" I commanded. "See this is why I hate Tom and his sugar coated mouth! He’s always with another woman when he’s supposed to be with me!"

The woman hung up, probably out of fear. Of course she should be afraid of me. A strong grip took hold of my hair leading me to scream out a cry of terror. "Who the fucking hell is the moron trying to rip out my skull!!!"

Turning back, I was standing face to face with a slender lady with an angry stare. "Oh my goodness, who the hell are you supposed to be??? I have been having a terrible day and you think you’ve gotten the invitation to join in and ruin it more?? I should just slap you right now—" I raised my hand to hit her but she was quick to dodge my slap.

"So you’re the shameless idiot who won’t leave husband alone, huh?? No wonder Tara left your pathetic ass family." The lady said.

Wait, she was Tom’s wife? Before I could say or do anything to defend myself, a loud slap landed on my face and I felt my vision blurred instantly.
