Chapter 619: Chapter 619: Wrong Idea (1)_1
Shan Xue’s eyes were glaring at Situ Xin, as if she wanted to stare holes through him.
As soon as Situ Xin had just seated herself on the only stool in the entire room, Shan Xue, lacking Situ Xin’s forbearance, couldn’t help but open her mouth and roar at Situ Xin, "Situ Xin, it was you who had people kidnap me, wasn’t it?" Despite phrasing it like a question, Shan Xue’s tone was certain. "Let me tell you, Situ Xin, you better release me right now, or else you’ll regret it."
During Shan Xue’s outburst, Situ Xin had been watching her with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile until Shan Xue felt a chill go down her spine. Then, Situ Xin leisurely responded, "It was me who had you captured. I am quite curious to see just how you plan to make me regret it."
Seeing that her words had no effect on Situ Xin, Shan Xue’s brain clicked, and her expression took a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree turn, showing a pleading look: "Situ Xin, I know I was wrong, I won’t dare do it again, please just let me go."
Situ Xin watched coldly as Shan Xue put on her performance. She smirked and asked, "Know what you did wrong?"
"Yes, I know I was wrong, I won’t dare again. Just let me go, and I’ll definitely leave Capital City and never show up in front of you again. I won’t tell anyone about your connections with The Underworld."
Situ Xin understood the meaning behind Shan Xue’s words—all too clear. The first part was an act of submission, while the second part was a threat. Shan Xue tried to pressure her into letting her go with a combination of carrot and stick tactics, but clearly, Shan Xue had miscalculated.
"Shan Xue, when you deliberately leaked the news about us sending Qin Jiamao to the disciplinary commission to Qin Jialiang, did you not consider that you shouldn’t have done such a thing? Now, after all is done, you think a simple apology will suffice? Tell me, do you think the world works like that?" Situ Xin lifted her gaze, staring coldly at Shan Xue.
Shan Xue shivered uncontrollably, truly regretting the impulsive action she had taken in a moment of indignation.
"What do you want me to do? Just say it, and I’ll do it," Shan Xue thought only of leaving, willing to do anything to get out. These days she had spent in the basement had nearly driven her insane.
"Anything, huh?" Situ Xin, hearing Shan Xue’s promise, showed a malicious grin. Situ Xin stood up, walked over to Shan Xue crouching in the corner, squatted down in front of her, and whispered a location into her ear.
Upon hearing the location from Situ Xin, Shan Xue’s eyes widened in shock as she started shaking her head, her lips mumbling, "No, no, I won’t go."
"Hehe, it’s not for you to decide here. Since you don’t want to stay, I’ll grant your request and let you out," said Situ Xin, showing no intention of being merciful this time.
"I won’t do it, I won’t go back. Situ Xin, you’ll pay for this," Shan Xue’s emotions surged uncontrollably. "Situ Xin, you’re from an Aristocratic family with military and political heritage. You should know this counts as illegal detention. You will face legal condemnation. And to think that you’re involved with The Underworld. If those political rivals of your Situ Family and Loo Family outside find out about your ’precious’ connection to The Underworld, how do you think they would react?"
Shan Xue, attempting to calm down, realized that Situ Xin had no intention of letting her go. No matter how much she lowered herself, it would be in vain. So, Shan Xue decided to throw caution to the wind, using the leverage she thought she had to try and force Situ Xin’s hand. "Situ Xin, if you release me now, I’ll act as if this never happened. I won’t spread the word about your link to The Underworld."
"Shan Xue, do you really think I’m a three-year-old? Do you think I would believe your guarantees? Given what I know of you, Shan Xue, if I were to let you go now, you’d probably find a way to leak the news of my connection to The Underworld the first chance you get," said Situ Xin, showing her clear disregard for Shan Xue’s threats. Her status as the Dark Division Leader, with connections to The Underworld, was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Situ Xin, if you don’t let me out, and my son, my daughter, my brother realize I’m missing, they’ll definitely call the police. Then you’ll have a hard time managing the fallout."
Shan Xue intended these words to frighten Situ Xin. However, they only made her seem particularly pitiful to Situ Xin.
But pitiable people often have their detestable sides. She looked at Shan Xue, who was still dreaming, with feigned sympathy and said, "Call the police? Your daughter, your son, your brother? Shan Xue, let me enlighten you. Over these past few days since we captured you, they haven’t even looked for you. They haven’t given you a second thought. I believe that even if they were told you’d been kidnapped and were offered to be ransomed, they wouldn’t bother. You simply don’t matter to them," Situ Xin’s words were not said in jest.
Clearly, Situ Xin’s words struck a chord with Shan Xue. Her face went ashen. She shut her mouth, a sense of resignation washing over her.
"Let me be the one to tell you: I’m not at all afraid of people knowing I have connections to The Underworld. This time, I came only to tell you personally how you will be dealt with. I won’t be soft-hearted again." Having said that, Situ Xin turned and left.
After Situ Xin visited Shan Xue, Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang secretly transferred Shan Xue to the location previously mentioned by Situ Xin. The life that awaited Shan Xue for the rest of her days, while not hell, was certainly not the life she wanted.
That night, Xiao Muli and his grandfather Old Master Xiao waited half the night for Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo to no avail.
Likewise feeling restless was Situ Jin. He had thought that the conversation he had had with his grandfather and maternal grandfather the day before would provoke a strong reaction or at least prevent Situ Xin from running off to the hospital again.
