Chapter 416: Chapter 416 Antidote (3)_1
"Hehe, the miss has caught on. Yes, the elites of the Dragon Society are indeed elite; they beat the crap out of the other side’s people. In the end, the leader of Sheng Shi was willing to hand over all of Sheng Shi’s influence in Capital City to our Dragon Society," Xia Yujie said, still not quite understanding Sheng Shi’s approach.
However, after hearing Xia Yujie’s words, Situ Xin fell silent for a moment, thinking that the nominal head of Sheng Shi must have received the news of the drug lord’s arrest by now. His actions were probably a last resort, intending to disavow any connection with the drug lord.
"Since he’s offered it, the Dragon Society might as well take it. It’s not like we can have too much power," Situ Xin thought. If the government investigates, the Dragon Society should not face any repercussions from taking over Sheng Shi’s influence in Capital City. Situ Xin figured that the authorities must have a clear grasp of the city’s underground power by now.
"Yes, I will quickly take Sheng Shi’s influence under the umbrella of the Dragon Society," Xia Yujie said after hearing that Situ Xin had also decided to take over Sheng Shi’s influence, putting aside his previous hesitation and thoughts that there might be some conspiracy behind Sheng Shi’s actions.
After hanging up the phone, Situ Muli asked Situ Xin, "Have they resolved all of the Dragon Society’s issues?"
"They’ve all been settled, and they should be busy taking over Sheng Shi’s influence now. The people from Sheng Shi in Capital City received the news quickly. We had just caught the drug lord, and they got wind of it. Now, they’ve handed over Sheng Shi’s power to us. I think those people from Sheng Shi are probably running for their lives," said Situ Xin, who left unsaid whether any of them had been poisoned by the drug lord.
"There’s no issue with the Dragon Society taking over Sheng Shi’s influence, right?" Xiang Yang added after hearing Situ Xin’s words.
"No worries, the Dragon Society isn’t afraid of a government investigation," Situ Xin said, leaning back. The government’s interest in the Dragon Society was nothing new; it was probably well aware of the situation with Sheng Shi.
Back at The Dark Division’s headquarters, when Situ Xin, holding Baibai, got off the helicopter, she said to Xiang Yang and the others, "Thank you all for this time." This wasn’t just any mission; it was likely considered more of Situ Xin’s personal affair. For her family’s sake, Situ Xin expressed her gratitude to Xiang Yang and the others for their assistance.
"Leader, what are you talking about? I reckon we were just there to make up numbers this time," Mei said with a smile. Mei’s words were met with agreement from everyone. This mission couldn’t compare to some of their previous ones - they were basically there for show.
"Regardless, I still want to thank you all," Situ Xin said with undeniable sincerity. "Alright, I won’t keep you any longer. I need to head back now; the old masters at home are waiting for me."
When Situ Xin, holding Baibai, returned home, she saw the three old masters sitting in the living room: Old Deng, her grandfather, and her maternal grandfather. Old Master Xiao may have been laying low lately due to the recent smuggling case. Although in the end, his son Xiao Guobing and daughter-in-law Liu Yun were involved, they were eventually released. Since then, Old Master Xiao had been less active in going out.
"Baby, how did it go? Are you hurt anywhere?" Old Master Situ, seeing Situ Xin at the door, couldn’t stay seated and hurried over, examining her from head to toe with concern.
"Grandpa, I’m fine," Situ Xin said helplessly, her grandfather fussing over her. Every time it concerned her, her grandfather’s intelligence seemed to regress significantly. If she had been injured, how could she have come back on her own? But, of course, these were thoughts she kept to herself. Even though she sometimes felt helpless about her grandfather’s actions, her heart was filled with warmth. Situ Xin enjoyed this feeling of being cared for by her family.
"That’s good, that’s good," Old Master Loo joined in, patting Situ Xin’s hair with his hand.
"This time, we really owe it to Miss Xiao Xin. Otherwise, Ah Che and Ah Jie wouldn’t have completed their mission so easily," said Old Deng, sitting there and laughing as he watched the trio.
That evening, Situ Haoran brought Situ Che and Loo Jie back home. Because the mission was such a success, the leaders had granted a few days off to the special operations team, which was perfect for Loo Jie to recover and restore his health.
And the task of nursing his health fell to Situ Xin. She took on the role of chef for both the Situ and Loo families.
This development, while initially a concern for those worried about Loo Jie’s health, turned into an amusing joke, as they teased, "Ah Jie is lucky to get injured this time. Not only is it not life-threatening, but we also get to enjoy Baby’s cooking skills."
Upon hearing this, Situ Xin, Loo Jie, and Situ Che all had black lines on their foreheads. From the way they spoke, if Situ Xin hadn’t developed the antidote in advance, Loo Jie’s condition would have been more than a simple case of physical exhaustion. It seemed they truly didn’t understand the gravity of the situation.
Yet, Situ Xin and the others had no intention of explaining the matter to the women at home. If they knew how dangerous Loo Jie’s injury had been, they would have struggled to eat the meals cooked by Situ Xin. Meanwhile, the older gentlemen who were privy to the actual situation patted Situ Xin’s head several times, each time looking at her as if she were the lucky star of their families.
Feeling embarrassed by their looks, Situ Xin wanted to find a place to hide.
Due to the incident with the drug lord, Situ Xin was unable to visit Situ Jin on Sunday as she had promised.
This left Situ Jin, Xiao Muli, and Yu Qihao, who had been looking forward to Situ Xin’s visit since Friday, all disappointed after waiting the entire Saturday. They looked so disheartened that it puzzled their female classmates. What had happened to these three most handsome guys in school?
After entering the military school, Situ Jin, Xiao Muli, and Yu Qihao had been crowned as the newest heartthrobs of their generation in the academy. Of course, they were unaware of this distinction.
"Muli, Qi Hao, do you think Baby might be sick, or something else happened that she couldn’t come to see me?" The more Situ Jin waited, the more anxious he became.
