Chapter 401: Chapter 401: The Dark Division Intervenes (6)_1
"Don’t give me those excuses, I only look at results. I don’t want to have to step in personally. You know if I do, your position as Hall Master won’t be secure anymore." The drug lord, observing the battlefield from afar, spoke emotionlessly: "I have no need for the incapable."
"Yes, boss, I’ll handle it right away and make sure to deliver a satisfying result," Hei Er’s heart sank upon hearing the drug lord’s words. He understood the implication: if he didn’t handle the situation properly, death or something even worse awaited him.
"Keep a close eye on those two directions," After departing the drug lord’s presence, Hei Er took up his pistol and binoculars to join the ongoing gunfight.
Peering through the binoculars at the direction from which the bullets were coming—the direction of Situ Che, Loo Jie, and Jiang Anbang—he relayed orders to the subordinates beside him.
"Understood," Usually, Hei Er dealt directly with the drug lord, and these subordinates, who spent more time with Hei Er, were afraid of him from the bottom of their hearts due to the harsh training he always arranged for them. They feared not just him but his methods of punishment.
Hei Er had been personally trained in Ancient Martial Arts by the drug lord himself and seemed to have a natural talent for it. Combined with his previous experience as a special forces soldier, his hand-to-hand combat skills and marksmanship were more than a match for Situ Che and Loo Jie.
After observing the direction where Situ Che and the others were for a while, Hei Er finally ascertained their position. Holding the binoculars in one hand, he drew his gun with the other, prepared to confirm the target’s location once more before firing a shot to eliminate the enemy.
Baibai, being a Divine Beast, flew much faster than a plane and didn’t have to follow any flight paths, heading straight for the destination.
"Master, I can feel your brothers’ presence; they are right below us," Baibai said to Situ Xin while soaring above the dense forest.
"Then take us lower." As Situ Xin instructed Baibai to descend, she also expanded her Divine Sense to search for Situ Che and Loo Jie.
It didn’t take long for Situ Xin’s Divine Sense to find Situ Che and Loo Jie, "Baibai, I’ve found Brother Che and Brother Jie, as you descend, head a little bit that way." But before she could enjoy the relief, her heart raced with anxiety; she saw someone with a gun aiming in the direction of Situ Che and Loo Jie. "Baibai, quick, fly in that direction, and be fast," Situ Xin pointed urgently at the person holding the gun, speaking to Baibai.
Upon hearing Situ Xin’s anxious tone, Baibai ceased its languid demeanor, turned spirited, and darted downwards. As a Divine Beast with better eyesight than humans, it could spot Hei Er aiming the gun at Situ Che and Loo Jie from about 10 meters off the ground.
Though Baibai considered itself a Divine Beast, usually indifferent to anyone but Situ Xin, its loyalty undoubtedly included Situ Xin’s relatives in the Situ and Loo families. Like its owner, Baibai was protective of those it acknowledged; it could bully them, but it couldn’t bear to see them bullied by others. Therefore, upon seeing someone aiming to shoot Situ Che and Loo Jie, it didn’t wait for Situ Xin’s command and accelerated towards Hei Er.
In the instant that Hei Er was about to pull the trigger of his gun, Baibai’s tiger paw kicked the weapon out of his hands. Stunned by the sudden appearance of the White Tiger before him, Hei Er was swatted into unconsciousness by Baibai’s paw before he could even react. His associates, upon witnessing a White Tiger plummet from the sky and appear before them, were too shocked to regain their senses for some time.
Without allowing them to come to, on Situ Xin’s command, "Baibai, knock them out," Baibai swiftly knocked out each of the still-stunned subordinates with a swift swat.
With the attention of both sides engrossed in the battle, no one noticed Baibai and Situ Xin descending from the sky.
"Master, what do we do now?" Baibai asked, hearing intermittent gunshots around them.
"Let’s take out the enemy first, and we’ll decide on the rest after talking with Brother Che and Brother Jie," Situ Xin had come only because she was concerned for her brothers and did not want to be involved in the decision-making process.
Worried that these people might wake up on their own, Situ Xin took out Silver Needles and a small box containing a powdered drug. After coating each needle with the drug from the box, she casually flung them, and the needles pierced into each of the men’s bodies.
"Alright then, master, how shall we deal with them? Should I use lethal force, or just knock them out?" Baibai finally had the chance to flex its muscles and was eager to shake off its previous lethargy, roaring several times toward the sky.
"Eh, did I just hear a tiger’s roar? There couldn’t be a wild beast like a tiger in this forest, could there?" Gao Chengzhou was intently focused on the environments when he suddenly heard a tiger’s roar.
"How could there be a tiger here? I think you must be hearing things," one of Gao Chengzhou’s injured teammates suggested.
On the other side, the drug lord hiding in the shadows, always vigilant, asked his men after hearing the roar, "Eh, did you hear a tiger’s roar just now?" But before anyone could answer, he added, "That can’t be right. We’ve thoroughly scouted the surrounding hills and forests. If there were a tiger, we would have found it long ago."
Nonetheless, the drug lord still picked up his binoculars to scan the battlefield he had meticulously designed.
"Baibai, let’s not be too violent, okay? We should be gentle. Just follow my commands—go where I tell you, and if you see someone, just knock them out with a paw," Situ Xin instructed, seated on Baibai’s back, spreading out her Divine Sense to guide Baibai’s movements.
