Chapter 392: Chapter 392: Characters Not to Be Messed With (2)_1
"Sure, mission accepted. You guys have things to do, so go ahead." Ruan Yanbing knew the identities of Situ Che and Loo Jie. Sometimes, Ruan Yanbing truly admired their courage and strength. These two, real princes of Capital City, would actually join such a dangerous special forces unit. He himself didn’t have the courage or ability to do so.
Watching Situ Che and Loo Jie get into the car and leave, Situ Xin also got into Ruan Yanbing’s car.
"Hey, Xiao Xin, where did you get that medicine you gave your brothers? They seemed to value it quite a bit," Ruan Yanbing was quite interested in the small bottle that Situ Xin had given to Situ Che and Loo Jie.
"Oh, it’s just some medicated powder I made for self-defense for my brothers. You know how dangerous their missions usually are—they often get injured," Situ Xin explained quite frankly.
"From what you’ve said, that powder seems pretty effective," Ruan Yanbing remarked, turning to look at Situ Xin with a face full of interest.
"Please, just focus on the road and drive carefully. My life is very precious," said Situ Xin, glancing at Ruan Yanbing. "Also, if you want some of that powder, just ask for it directly. Is this really necessary?"
As she spoke, Situ Xin took a small porcelain bottle out of her bag and handed it to Ruan Yanbing, "Here, take this. It’s very effective for external injuries." Of course, the medicated powder that Situ Xin gave to Ruan Yanbing was quite different from the one she had given to Loo Jie and Situ Che—the effects were not nearly as miraculous.
"Thanks a lot." Ruan Yanbing happily accepted the powder. Then he joked, "Xiao Xin, don’t mistrust my driving skills so much. You should know that I’m an amateur racer."
"Stop kidding, your level could hardly qualify as a racer. Once I get my license, I’ll show you what real racing is all about," Situ Xin couldn’t help but voice her derision at Ruan Yanbing’s boasting.
"Little miss, that’s no way to speak to someone. Humph, I’m actually looking forward to seeing what kind of racing skills you have," Ruan Yanbing clearly didn’t believe Situ Xin’s claims. In his eyes, Situ Xin had never even touched a car, let alone raced one. He thought that Situ Xin’s words were purely to provoke him.
"Then just wait and see," Situ Xin knew exactly what Ruan Yanbing was thinking, and thought to herself, "Kid, your granny here could race cars while still in my mother’s womb." Indeed, Situ Xin wasn’t exaggerating—she had been a remarkable driver in her previous life, at times racing while simultaneously practicing her marksmanship.
But Ruan Yanbing knew nothing of this. And it wouldn’t be long before he’d witness Situ Xin’s driving skills and realize that all the things she said today weren’t exaggerated taunts but a true display of her abilities. Of course, all that was to happen later.
Situ Xin and Ruan Yanbing chatted casually, and soon they arrived at the Situ family home. As Situ Xin got out of the car, she politely asked, "Brother Ruan, do you want to come in and sit for a bit? I think my grandfathers and the others are still awake."
"Ah, no need, no need. It’s getting late, and I should head back for some sleep," Ruan Yanbing heard that Old Master Situ was still awake and quickly started the car and left the courtyard. He had been deeply afraid of Old Master Situ since he was a child when he visited the Situ family with his mother, and that fear hadn’t diminished over the years.
However, Situ Xin didn’t know this. Watching the car disappear from view, she shrugged her shoulders and said to Baibai, "What’s with Ruan Yanbing? He acts like he’s being chased by a ghost, fleeing so fast."
"Who knows?" Baibai replied lazily before closing his eyes to sleep again.
"Baibai, you’re getting lazier by the day," Situ Xin remarked, looking at Baibai as he closed his eyes to sleep.
When Situ Xin walked into the house with Baibai in her arms, she saw her grandfather, maternal grandfather, father, uncle, and maternal uncle all sitting on the sofa, with serious and concerned expressions on their faces.
"Huh, Grandpa, why are all of you here?" Situ Xin said with a hint of surprise in her voice upon seeing Old Master Loo and the others still at her home so late. But as soon as she asked, the image of Situ Che and Loo Jie on a mission flashed through her mind, and she understood why everyone was gathered together today.
"We have some matters to discuss. Baby, did you have fun with your brothers today?" Old Master Loo’s worried expression eased a bit, replaced by a faint smile, upon seeing his beloved granddaughter.
"It was okay, but Brother Che and Brother Jie had to leave suddenly for a mission. Otherwise, we could have played longer," Situ Xin pouted as she sat between Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo and said.
"That’s the mission for your Brother Che and Brother Jie; there’s nothing to be done about it. Next time they come back, they can take you out for a proper day of fun," Old Master Situ didn’t know that Situ Xin’s idea of "playing longer" involved where exactly they would play. Had he known, he would never have allowed Situ Che and Loo Jie to take her out alone.
"Baby, it’s getting late, and you have school tomorrow. Go wash up and head to bed," Old Master Loo glanced at the clock in the living room and told Situ Xin. They still had issues to discuss among themselves.
"Okay, good night then. Grandpa, Grandpa Loo, Uncle, Maternal Uncle, Dad," after greeting everyone, Situ Xin went upstairs with Baibai.
However, as Situ Xin was about to reach the second floor, she faintly heard words like "mission," "drug traffickers," and "arms trade" drifting up from the first floor. Situ Xin thought that these probably had something to do with the mission Situ Che and Loo Jie had left for.
