Chapter 384: Chapter 384: That Guy Has His Eyes on You (2)_1
"Yeah, how did you know?" Lan Junxi was very surprised.
"Nothing much, just saw it a few days ago." Situ Xin was now certain that Lan Junxi was the man who was keeping Fu Xiaoyi. She thought to herself, it made sense—the matter with Fu Xiaoyi’s parents was probably known to everyone in those circles within the country. There would be very few people bold enough to get involved with Fu Xiaoyi just after the conclusion of the smuggling case. Only someone like Lan Junxi, who was not involved in the military or political scenes of Country H, would do so without any reservations.
"There, your companion is waiting for you, and my driver has also arrived to pick me up. I’ll be going then." Since Situ Xin knew about Lan Junxi’s connection with Fu Xiaoyi, she thought it best to keep her distance.
"Eh, Situ Xin, wait a moment. I’ve made plans to meet up with your brother and the others, do you want to come too?" Lan Junxi was full of curiosity for this sister, who was so prized by Situ Che and Loo Jie.
He had been firmly rejected every time he wanted to meet her before. He had only seen Situ Xin’s pictures in the wallets of Situ Che and Loo Jie. He had only glimpsed her photo a few times, but Lan Junxi remembered it extremely well.
That’s why, when he saw Situ Xin just now, he had switched off his car engine in a hurry, got out, and chased after her.
"Did you say my brother and the others will be at the gathering later?" Situ Xin frowned slightly. She looked at Lan Junxi, then at Fu Xiaoyi standing beside the Hummer, and a plan formed in her mind. "If my brother will be there, then may I join as well?"
"Of course you may, it would be an honor for us to have the Situ Family’s Princess grace us with her presence." Lan Junxi had intended to invite Situ Xin, so when she asked to come on her own, how could he refuse?
"Then let me tell my driver." After speaking with her driver, Situ Xin followed Lan Junxi towards his Hummer.
Fu Xiaoyi stood by the Hummer, her expression changing multiple times as she watched Situ Xin approach. She had never expected Lan Junxi to rush out of the car for Situ Xin.
What she expected even less was that Situ Xin would actually walk over with Lan Junxi. As Fu Xiaoyi stared blankly at Situ Xin, Lan Junxi, whose attention was now focused entirely on Situ Xin, failed to notice Fu Xiaoyi’s disturbance.
As for Situ Xin, she chose to ignore Fu Xiaoyi.
"Xiao Xin, I can call you that, right? Come sit in the front passenger seat." Lan Junxi said as he went to open the car door for Situ Xin.
Situ Xin glanced at Fu Xiaoyi, who was standing by the front passenger seat, and said, "I prefer to sit in the back."
Seeing Lan Junxi’s attentive manner in opening and closing the car door for Situ Xin, and recalling how he used to summon and dismiss her at his convenience, being cautious around him all the while, a wave of sourness went through Fu Xiaoyi’s heart.
However, thankfully, Fu Xiaoyi knew her current status. She knew she was no longer the little princess cherished by her parents; she was now just a woman being kept by Lan Junxi.
During the ride, Lan Junxi enthusiastically engaged Situ Xin in conversation, seemingly deliberately or perhaps unwittingly excluding Fu Xiaoyi. Situ Xin, on the other hand, purposefully ignored Fu Xiaoyi, believing that this arrangement must be to Fu Xiaoyi’s liking.
The car stopped at Broadway.
"Do you usually meet up at Broadway?" Situ Xin asked as she got out of the car and looked at the Broadway sign.
"Yes, ever since I came back from Country Y, I’ve mostly hung out at Broadway. It’s probably the most famous and best club in Capital City," Lan Junxi replied. "Xiao Xin, have you ever been to Broadway before?"
In Lan Junxi’s mind, Situ Xin certainly had never visited this place, considering how Situ Che and Loo Jie had always cherished their sister, refusing even to let her out for a meal.
"I have been here, my middle school graduation party was held inside. The environment is indeed good," Situ Xin paused and then turned to the two people behind her, saying, "Let’s go inside."
At this time, Broadway had yet to enter the nightlife phase. Most of the people coming here were for dining, as the flavors of the dishes at Broadway were unmatched by any other place.
There had been a five-star hotel that tried to poach Broadway’s chef, but still couldn’t replicate the taste of Broadway’s dishes. The Dragon Society had even toppled that five-star hotel, which tried to lure away the chefs, thereby putting a stop to other restaurants and clubs eyeing Broadway’s success.
Upon entering Broadway, the waiter did not ask Lan Junxi for a membership card but simply greeted, "Mr. Lan, please follow me," clearly a result of Lan Junxi’s frequent patronage.
"Xiao Xin, you must try the dishes here at Broadway. The flavor is something you can’t find elsewhere," Lan Junxi said earnestly to Situ Xin as he walked beside her. Fu Xiaoyi trailed a step behind Lan Junxi and Situ Xin. Seeing Lan Junxi’s somewhat ingratiating attitude toward Situ Xin did not sit well with her, but she understood internally that this was the advantage of having a powerful backer.
This was something Fu Xiaoyi came to slowly realize after her parents went away. To be honest, she envied, was jealous of, and even hated Situ Xin. Before, she might have shown it, but now, she dared not reveal anything and could only keep it hidden inside.
Baibai snorted dismissively after hearing Lan Junxi’s words, saying to Situ Xin, "Master, this guy really is a bore. He thinks you’re a country bumpkin or something, knowing nothing."
After hearing Baibai’s comment, Situ Xin laughed and said, "Oh Baibai, don’t be so hot-tempered. He’s just being enthusiastic," although, in her heart, Situ Xin agreed with Baibai, finding Lan Junxi quite bothersome. However, to tease Baibai, she continued.
"Mr. Lan, here we are. Please come in." The waiter opened the door of a private room and gestured for Situ Xin and the others to enter.
Lan Junxi had initially intended to let Situ Xin enter first, but Situ Xin deliberately signaled for Lan Junxi and Fu Xiaoyi to go ahead.
