Chapter 326: Chapter 326: Situ Xin’s Design Drawing (1)_1

However, when Old Madam Situ, Loo Yaxin, and Situ Xin’s great aunt Liu Qian saw the pile of fabrics that Lu Juan had brought over, they got to work and cleared a space especially for Situ Xin, saying it was for making clothes for her. They even specifically asked Lu Juan what tools were needed for making clothes, so they could prepare them for Situ Xin.

When Situ Xin saw what her grandma, mom, and great aunt had prepared for her, she felt both touched and helpless. But then she thought about it and let go of her feelings, realizing that she definitely couldn’t finish all of the clothes in her space. If she did everything in her space without her family seeing her work, only the finished products, they would certainly find it strange.

Situ Xin decided to work on the clothes outside during the day and continue working on them in her space at night. That way, there would be no problems.

The first day Situ Xin began her work.

Situ Xin took out the fashion drawings she had sketched according to the measurements of foreign models and then, using something like chalk, she marked the lines on the fabric following her drawings. After finishing this, Situ Xin picked up her scissors, ready to cut along the marked lines. However, just as she was about to cut, her mom stopped her.

"Baby, do you know how? Otherwise, we should still call your little uncle’s wife to find a master for you," Loo Yaxin said. Knowing her daughter was starting on the clothes today, she had taken a day off specially since she was worried Situ Xin might ruin the fabric with a wrong cut. She had heard from Lu Juan that this fabric couldn’t be found domestically.

Old Madam Situ was not worried about the fabric in Situ Xin’s hands; rather, she was concerned about Situ Xin handling the scissors, afraid Situ Xin might accidentally cut herself. "Baby, why don’t you tell grandma how you want to cut, and grandma will help you with it?"

"Ah, grandma, mom, don’t talk for now, just wait until I’m done cutting, then you can speak." Situ Xin’s action of cutting was interrupted by both of them, causing her to stop.

Both Old Madam Situ and Loo Yaxin knew Situ Xin’s temperament well and that once she had made up her mind, they couldn’t change it. Their previous comments were just out of concern, but now, at Situ Xin’s words, both of them closed their mouths and intently watched the scissors in her hands, worrying that something might happen.

But obviously, their worries were superfluous. Situ Xin’s movements were very skilled, and her vision was better than the average person’s, so the pieces she cut out were exactly along the lines she had previously drawn.

Seeing Situ Xin put down the scissors, both Old Madam Situ and Loo Yaxin let out a sigh of relief.

Next was stitching the pattern she wanted onto the cut fabric. When she took out her embroidery thread, Loo Yaxin said, "Eh, baby, where did you get this thread from? The colors are brighter than any I’ve seen outside. But prettier too."

"I found it by chance in a small shop," Situ Xin answered while picking out the silk threads she needed.

"Baby, are you going to embroider?" Old Madam Situ hesitated for a moment after seeing the tools Situ Xin pulled out, then asked.

"Yep," Situ Xin replied offhandedly.

However, Situ Xin’s response surprised both Old Madam Situ and Loo Yaxin quite a bit. Tailoring and making clothes might be something one could learn after a bit of instruction, but embroidery was not so simple. It required a long time to learn, and even with Situ Xin’s talent, it wasn’t something one could learn overnight. Besides, they had never seen Situ Xin learn it.

"Baby, are you sure you know how to embroider?" Loo Yaxin asked.

"Grandma, mom, you’re asking so many questions when you could simply watch and see," Situ Xin regretted telling Old Madam when she would start making clothes. She should have done it quietly and only shown them a finished dress afterwards. Then they wouldn’t have had so many questions.

The first gown Situ Xin made was a modified cheongsam, embroidered with a phoenix. Even though the embroidery was time-consuming, and Situ Xin had only managed to embroider a small part after half a day’s work, seeing what Situ Xin was stitching, Old Madam Situ and Loo Yaxin had no more doubts.

It took Situ Xin two days to embroider the phoenix on the entire gown, of course, because she took the gown into her space to work on it, allowing her to finish it so quickly. When Situ Xin showed the finished phoenix embroidery to Old Madam Situ and the others, they were all astonished.

The embroidery was lifelike; it was no worse even than those done by embroiderers with decades of experience. If compared closely, Situ Xin’s embroidery was even slightly better.

"Baby, did you do this embroidery?" Old Master Situ, regaining his bearings after seeing Situ Xin’s work, asked, "Yep, grandpa, how about that, not bad, right?" Situ Xin, seeing how surprised everyone was, said proudly.

"Not bad? I might not know much about embroidery, but this is much better than what they sell outside," Situ Xin’s great aunt, Liu Qian, said as she examined the phoenix embroidery with admiration.

"Baby, how about you embroider one for me sometime?" Liu Qian kept admiring the phoenix embroidery and couldn’t help but start to wheedle Situ Xin for it.

"No problem," Situ Xin, happy that her embroidery was accepted by everyone, readily agreed to her great aunt’s request. However, she didn’t anticipate that by agreeing, she was bringing a lot of work upon herself.

The completion of Situ Xin’s first gown put everyone who was worried about her at ease, and Situ Xin was grateful for the respite from the relentless questioning.

During this time, Situ Xin was so busy making clothes and embroidering that she completely forgot about the college entrance exams until Situ Jin reminded her that today was the day to go to school to estimate the scores and fill out the college preferences.
