Chapter 273: Chapter 273 Building Good Relationships (1)_1

Yet, to his surprise, after hearing his daughter’s words, Murong Tao frowned and sternly warned Murong Mengyao, "Remember every single word I’m telling you today. I don’t care how much you can’t stand Murong Wanyu or how you choose to torment her. But you’d better open your eyes and see clearly, those bearing the Situ surname are not to be trifled with." After saying this, Murong Tao added, "It’s best if you get on good terms with those of the Situ surname."

Murong Tao had intended to say more to his daughter. But recalling the instructions that man had whispered in his ear a few days ago, he swallowed back the words he had wanted to say.

After all, Murong Wanyu was still an immature girl. Though she was calculative and used to scheming, faced with such a solemn warning from her own father, even if her heart held numerous grievances against Situ Xin, she didn’t dare to blatantly provoke him. Not to mention, with Situ Jin and the rest around, she would be even less likely to do anything to Situ Xin.

No matter how much Murong Mengyao wished she could execute Murong Wanyu by the death of a thousand cuts, when she saw the homeroom teacher walk in with a thick stack of math papers, her attention shifted entirely to the papers. She prayed for a miracle to happen this time.

Because, before the mid-term exams, Old Master Murong had given her an ultimatum—if she ended up at the bottom of her class again, her allowance for the following period would be cut in half. This was practically a death sentence for Murong Mengyao. She was at a critical point where she needed the money to win people over.

Murong Mengyao’s hands were clasped together nervously, her palms sweating.

In this class, it was only Situ Xin and her group of four who appeared totally unfazed by the sight of the test papers. The rest of the students were all extremely serious, anxiously staring at the podium, praying silently in their hearts.

"The overall performance of our class in this midterm exam was not bad," the homeroom teacher began, to the relief of all the students. But the teacher wouldn’t let them off easy, "However, some students have regressed significantly. The grades they’ve obtained are quite unsatisfactory." This statement caused the students’ hearts to rise in anxiety once again.

Meanwhile, Situ Xin at the side, could not help but curl her lips in disdain; these teachers were all the same.

"In this exam, Situ Xin, Situ Jin, Xiao Muli, and Yu Qihao have all done exceptionally well, tying for first place in our school’s entire grade." This was perhaps the most instances of a tie for first place in the school’s history. Moreover, these four students all came from his class, putting the homeroom teacher in an excellent mood.

As soon as the homeroom teacher finished speaking, the students all turned in unison to look at Situ Xin and the other three. Murong Wanyu’s eyes were filled with admiration when she looked at Situ Xin, making Situ Xin feel goosebumps all over.

"There are also students who have made rapid progress in this exam. Murong Wanyu has improved significantly, ranking fifteenth in our class and eighty-ninth in the entire grade," the homeroom teacher said, looking at Murong Wanyu with a smile and eyes full of praise, which made her blush for the first time.

However, when Murong Mengyao heard the teacher praising Murong Wanyu, her expression instantly twisted into a ferocious glare. The look she gave Murong Wanyu was as if she wanted to tear her apart and devour her alive.

However, what the class teacher said next made her face look particularly unsightly. "Some students did not perform ideally in this exam. Murong Mengyao, although your grades were not good to begin with, if you keep regressing at this rate, you’ll soon be eligible for retention." Even though Murong Mengyao was admitted through connections, the class teacher no longer even regarded the Murong Family.

Following that, the class teacher’s announcement of the scores really made the atmosphere of the class fluctuate wildly. Among the students with report cards, some were joyful, others anxious.

Murong Wanyu, holding her own report card, turned excitedly to Situ Xin and said, "Xiao Xin, thank you. If it weren’t for your frequent help with questions, I definitely couldn’t have achieved such good results."

"Don’t thank me, it’s the result of your own hard work. Keep it up," Situ Xin said, casually stuffing her report card into her backpack. However, halfway through, it was intercepted by Situ Jin.

Situ Xin looked at Situ Jin with confusion. Situ Jin lifted the report card in his hand and said, "Grandpa and Great-grandpa demanded this. I guess they are going to show off your report card again."

On Friday, after the teacher announced the end of the school day, Situ Xin was organizing her backpack while thinking about how to spend the weekend. In her mind, she also searched for whether Situ Muli had arranged any plans for her this week.

Ever since Situ Xin took over The Dark Division, she had delegated most of her routine affairs to Situ Muli and Xiang Yang. If there were any important matters or schedules, she also asked Situ Muli to arrange them for Saturdays and Sundays.

Although Situ Xin was already familiar with the knowledge taught at school, she still insisted on attending. This was her way of making up for the regrets of her past life.

After the teacher announced the end of classes, Murong Wanyu started to become anxious, unsure of how to bring up the matter of inviting Situ Xin over to her house that evening. She had been fretting over this all day long.

Initially, Murong Wanyu was unaware of Situ Xin’s family background, but as they gradually became closer, she heard about Situ Xin’s family through some classmates and was quite shocked by it. However, she didn’t dwell on it because her desire to befriend Situ Xin was based on liking her as a person. Thus, she didn’t have any reservations.

But today, her parents found out that her improved exam scores were thanks to Situ Xin, and they asked her to invite Situ Xin over for dinner that evening. Yet, she didn’t know how to broach the subject and was afraid Situ Xin might refuse.

Once Situ Xin had packed her backpack, she looked up to see Murong Wanyu with a complex expression, currently lost in her own world. "Hey, Wanyu, what’s on your mind?"

Murong Wanyu came back to her senses, looked up at Situ Xin, took a deep breath, and said, "Xiao Xin, my mom has asked me to invite you to have dinner at my house tonight. Well, my parents found out how much I’ve improved in this exam, all thanks to your help, so they want you to, um, come to my house, for dinner." Murong Wanyu spoke while staring unwaveringly at Situ Xin. "If you don’t agree, it’s also fine."
