Chapter 184: Chapter 184: Refining Artifacts (1)_1
Situ Xin, after finishing at the hot spring, felt the fatigue lift from her body. She got dressed and realized she wasn’t ready to sleep just yet. "Baibai," she said, "I’m going to spend some time in the space; go find a place to practice your cultivation. When I come out, I’ll call for you."
After speaking with Baibai, Situ Xin teleported to the mountain cavern where she had found Baibai. Since she had last forged the Storage Bracelets and Storage Rings, she hadn’t had the chance to return here to forge. Another reason she hadn’t been forging was that she felt her ability to forge wasn’t sufficient enough last time when making the Storage Bracelets and Rings; it wasn’t the right moment. Hence, she wasn’t in a rush to forge again but instead took any spare time to consolidate her knowledge about weapon forging from the Jade Token in her mind.
When Situ Xin arrived in the cave, she took the materials required for forging to the specialized workbench inside and began preparing to forge.
In truth, such weapons as bows and swords had become rather obsolete in modern society, rarely used compared to guns. At the thought of guns, Situ Xin’s eyes lit up, and an idea formed in her mind. She could forge a gun.
It was a good idea, but her Jade Token contained absolutely no knowledge about forging guns. Nonetheless, Situ Xin wasn’t discouraged. Once she set her mind on something, she was determined to follow through, no matter how difficult, without giving up.
Knowing that her current skill level in forging meant that making a gun was almost hopeless, Situ Xin started with the most basic forging techniques. She planned to first master these before attempting to forge a gun.
When completely focused on a task, time flew especially fast, and just like that, Situ Xin had been in the space for more than ten hours. She had almost mastered the basics of forging.
Situ Xin put down the tools in her hands, stretched her somewhat stiff neck, and then sent a message to call Baibai over. Embracing Baibai, she teleported out of the space.
After New Year’s, Situ Xin and her classmates truly entered the final review for their middle school exams. After school resumed, their class welcomed a new transfer student—Liu Zhengyang.
Situ Xin didn’t have much of an opinion about Liu Zhengyang. She had long since pushed to the back of her mind the incident at Old Master Yu’s birthday banquet where Liu Qianxue had plotted to embarrass her. If Situ Xin were someone who liked to hold grudges, she would have already found a way to deal with the Liu Family.
If Situ Xin wanted to target a family, she wouldn’t just create obstacles like her grandfather and grandfather-outside did; she would make them disappear from the place entirely.
Situ Xin didn’t care, but Situ Jin, Xiao Muli, and Yu Qihao certainly took the incident to heart. They even placed the blame for the incident on Liu Zhengyang’s shoulders.
No sooner had Liu Zhengyang arrived in their class than Situ Jin and the others acted as if they didn’t know him. Even when Liu Zhengyang shamelessly greeted them, they pretended not to see him.
However, as Liu Zhengyang was from a proper family, other classmates treated him nicely, unlike how they treated Liang Ruobing. Ever since Liang Ruobing confessed her feelings to Xiao Muli, she had been ostracized everywhere she went.
The girls in school who liked Xiao Muli would occasionally bring their friends to confront Liang Ruobing. Situ Xin had seen Liang Ruobing with injuries on her face several times. But whether Liang Ruobing was bullied or not didn’t concern Situ Xin, and she had no intention of meddling in such matters.
With the help of Situ Xin’s behind-the-scenes advice, Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang managed to firmly establish the Dragon Society’s dominance over The Underworld in the Capital City. Though the Dragon Society operated in The Underworld, under Situ Xin’s insistence, their brothers didn’t engage in illegal activities but worked legitimate jobs under the Dragon Society’s banner instead.
This left those looking to catch the Dragon Society in wrongdoing lurking in the shadows, with no opportunity to act.
Time flew, and before they knew it, it was April. With the day of Xiangjiang’s return to the motherland fast approaching, Situ Xin once again reminded Xia Yujie to have the Dragon Society gather intelligence on high-ranking officials in the Capital City and to pay close attention to any moves from Country Y behind the scenes.
"Situ, were our Xiao Jie and your Ah Che chosen to participate in that training?" Situ Xin was passing by Old Master Situ’s study when she heard her grandfather-outside’s voice. With her current cultivation level, her senses were much sharper than the average person’s. Despite the barrier of a door, she easily overheard the conversation inside.
Hearing her grandfather-outside mention her two brothers and some training program, Situ Xin, due to her experiences in a previous life, was particularly sensitive to the idea of such training. Moreover, she knew that any training mentioned by her grandfathers wouldn’t be anything ordinary.
Worried about her two brothers, Situ Xin stood still and listened in on the old masters’ conversation.
"Yes, I received the information last night. Both of them have been selected for the training. It seems that during Xiangjiang’s return, Old Deng insists on going, but as you know, even though Country Y has agreed to return Xiangjiang due to international pressure, who knows what it’s doing secretly? As a precaution for Old Deng’s safety, the top brass came up with a plan to select a few from the special forces for intensive training to ensure his protection," Old Master Situ, being a military man, understood such matters much more thoroughly than Old Master Loo.
"But Xiao Jie and Ah Che aren’t from the special forces. Why would they be involved in this training?" Even though Situ Xin couldn’t see Old Master Loo’s facial expression, she could well imagine his concern.
"It’s because those two lads stood out in their previous performances. They were specifically recommended by the training instructor during the meeting," Old Master Situ spoke with both pride and worry in his voice.
"Ah, this mission carries such great danger, and if anything happens to Old Deng along the way, I fear for them..." Old Master Loo’s words trailed off, but his sentence was fraught with worry for Loo Jie and Situ Che.
"It is very dangerous, but participation in missions is mandatory in the military," Old Master Situ sighed before saying something that seemed meant to be comforting.
