The raise of Maureen Smith and her Good Luck System -
Chapter 91: Dye it black
Chapter 91: Dye it black
After Maureen had left home, Liam decided to head out after taking a shower and grabbing his keys.
Ten minutes later, he stepped into a familiar private hair salon.
As soon as he entered, the stylist hastily vacated the place, escorting him up to the third floor. "
Mr. Williams, a trim? A trim will be more invigorating." In the mirror, Liam boasted a head of fiery red, assertive short hair, but his mood today was evidently somewhat low.
Unlike his usual languid and casual demeanour during previous visits, he looked cool and weary, struggling to keep his eyelids up.
The stylist spotted Liam with a lowered gaze, leaving one to guess what he was thinking.
After a while, he finally lifted his eyes and said, "Dye it black." "Dye it black?"
The stylist was taken aback: "You’ve never considered dying it black before."
Deep black hair, deep black brows and eyes, pale skin, would all make him resemble his elder brother.
His mother would not accept it, neither would his grandpa.
But clearly, this was the type that Maureen liked.
Liam wished to return to that previous self-deceptive dream.
He spoke impatiently, "Less talk, just dye it black."
He sat in the hair salon for two hours, feeling all loosened up.
"Four thousand five hundred."
Liam stood up, pulled out his cell phone from his pocket, scanning to pay.
When he walked down, the salon staff could not help but gawk at the transformed Liam.
The color of one’s hair seriously influences their aura.
Earlier, with a head of messed-up red hedgehog-like short hair, Liam was almost like a declaration of arrogance and rebelliousness etched onto his face, making people want to run away at mere sight.
This almost overshadowed his strikingly handsome looks.
At this moment though, with his shiny black short hair, clean, high, and sparse, between an astounding glance, he had lost some of his earlier violent and unrestrained air.
Instead, there was a hint of the clear aloofness of an arrogant teenager.
When he turned his body to scan the code, the collar of his coat, forcefully revealed the youthful and powerful lines of his neck.
Everyone in the store was staring at him as if they were dumbfounded.
"What are you looking at?"
Liam came to his senses, seeing these people all staring at him, he scowled back irritably,
"Be careful your eyeballs don’t fall out if you keep staring."
Everyone in the shop quickly withdrew their gaze. Liam was still Liam.
Changing a hairstyle didn’t mean changing a temper.
Liam touched his new hairstyle in a somewhat unaccustomed manner and walked out of the barber shop.
He took a selfie with a sulky face and sent it to the group of three.
As expected, both Niel and Drake began their banter again.
In the three-person video.
Drake: "I was just casually saying it last night. Did you really go dye it?
Well, Liam, you really have left no stone unturned in your efforts to win someone over."
Liam was immediately enraged: "Are you f***ing asking for a death wish? What do you mean by random talk?
Didn’t you say that Maureen likes this type?!" Niel hurriedly tried to smooth things over: "Okay, Liam, you should go buy some candles and steak—"
After thinking for a bit, Niel continued: "I think Maureen’s type is more of an academic overachiever.
It might be quite challenging for you to pretend to be one, Liam."
Liam was furious. He demanded, "What do you mean by ’It’s going to be difficult to pretend to be a straight-A student’?
Explain that to me now or else you’re not seeing dawn today.
You’re talking to a straight-A student here, do you understand?"
Niel: "..." Drake replied, "I can vouch for Liam on that."
Irritated, Liam urged, "There’s more? Don’t hoard your ideas, send them all at once."
Swallowing, Niel offered, "Maybe you should purchase a few Olympiad Mathematics textbooks, even acquire a few medals to make you appear more studious? Later at dinner, when Maureen asks about your idol, make sure to mention Einstein, remember, Einstein!
And your most ’inspired’ moment was when an apple fell—" Liam interrupted,
"That’s Newton!" Scratching his head, Niel went on, "In short, apart from catering to her interests, you also need to be romantic.
That’s the only way you can surpass Richard."
Just hearing Richard’s name formed a dark cloud over Liam’s head.
Seeing that he was about to explode any second, Niel hurriedly said, "Maureen prefers quiet, aloof types.
Liam, say less!" Liam: "..." Bitterly, Liam swallowed down the stream of curses trying to escape his mouth.
"See you in the next life," he said, promptly cutting off the video call before leaving to buy dinner.
In the past, his flaming red spiky hair made him seem aggressive and defiant, causing most people on the street to avoid direct eye contact with him.
Now, with his new black hair, countless headstrong girls kept locking their eyes on him as he walked down the street.
He felt his fists itching as he ’want to fight?’ glanced back at them.
Soon, he had successfully scared off most of his spectators. Liam frowned, struggling to adapt to the discomfort brought on by his black hair.
He glanced at the time. Maureen must be having dinner with Mrs. Donald’s family now. Perhaps he could purchase a few items first, then go to the dining place to pick her up.
Liam held a secret anticipation in his heart, perhaps looking forward to how Maureen would react when she saw his black hair.
He hoped that there might be a glimmer of ’liking’ in her eyes.
This made him eager to see her as soon as possible.
He could meet her tonight, but he wanted to see her now.
He was like a child eager to show off his treasure.
Liam came out from the basement of the mall carrying white eco-friendly bags filled with candles and steaks, and drove to the dining location that Maureen had mentioned to him last night.
It didn’t take long for him to arrive.
All the dining places nearby were on the first floor, with glass windows all around.
From across the street, Liam quickly spotted Maureen dining in a western restaurant, and the person across from her.
