The raise of Maureen Smith and her Good Luck System
Chapter 146: I want to keep you forever

Chapter 146: I want to keep you forever

The two hadn’t had their fill over there, so they decided to cook some noodles when they got back.

"I’m actually a little angry."

Maureen stirred the noodles in the pot with a long pair of spoons, her tone still choked with emotion.

She avoided looking at Liam, her eyes lowered on the boiling water and the tumbling noodles in the pot, her eyes rimmed red, "I asked you before, about the wound on your neck, you told me that the instant noodle glass bowl exploded!

Do you have no heart, no feelings?" Maureen couldn’t help but drop her Spoon.

She should have realized it long ago, she had been living there for so long, and she had never seen Liam eat instant noodles - his refrigerator was completely empty, not a single instant noodle or glass bowl, what noodles was he supposedly making?!

Liam was always lying to her! Seeing Maureen crying all the way back in the cold wind, her eyes swollen to the size of walnuts, Liam felt deeply distressed.

He lightly patted Maureen’s back, trying to alleviate her hiccup, looking down at her and apologized regretfully,

"It’s my fault."

Maureen raised her swollen eyes to look at him,

"It’s all your fault--"

"Yes, yes, yes, I was wrong." Liam didn’t argue at this time, his short hair that usually looked as prickly as a porcupine seemed much softer.

He circled around Maureen, his hand resting on the back of her neck, giving it a gentle squeeze, comforting,

" crybaby, stop crying, okay?" "You’re calling me a crybaby?!" Maureen said, "Except for this time, hic, when did I ever cry?!"

Liam: "The time you got drunk."

Maureen’s bloodshot eyes glared at him. Liam, with a strong will to survive, quickly corrected himself,

"No, I remembered wrongly.

You didn’t cry when you got drunk, I did, is that okay?"

Maureen still felt dreadful, a kind of despair that lacked any remedy, because she couldn’t time travel back, to bring out the Liam from the past.

While choking back tears, she took a tomato out of the refrigerator.

"Let me cut it."

Liam quickly took over the tomato and knife from her.

After taking them, he looked at Maureen.

Helpless and pitiful was his expression, as he was unsure of how to comfort her.

He paused for a moment, then repeated, "I’m sorry, I won’t hide things from you anymore."

Maureen felt more distressed, why should Liam apologize to her?

"I... hic, I’m not mad anymore.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that."

Maureen quickly replied. Liam chuckled lightly, rubbing the tip of her nose with his finger, "I know."

The little girl opposed it, out of sympathy for him.

Liam would be ecstatic if he had the time. Maureen stepped forward, hugging Liam from behind, her hands wrapped around his waist, her cheek joined to his back.

Liam was tall, Maureen’s cheek just leveled to his backbone, she could feel the youth’s frame through his clothes.

Growing vigorously like a beauty in the sun.

"Liam."

"Huh?" "One thought is on my mind right now, I wish you were little again."

Maureen suddenly said. Maureen’s words were out of the blue.

Liam clumsily sliced the tomato, turned his head slightly, and asked in confusion, "Shrink? Then what? What do you want to do?"

"Then, I’ll build you a soft nest and let you live in it.

I will coil you up with the nest, and press you hard into my chest."

When Maureen suddenly said this, Liam felt quite embarrassed.

Press into my chest. What kind of gibberish was this?

He turned his head this head back at Maureen, his face saying ’What the heck, will I, as an exceptional student of 1.88 meters tall, tolerate this insult?!

My little mask is really too arrogant!’, but the corner of his mouth couldn’t help but bend upwards wildly, "By the sound of your description, you want to keep me."

"Is it allowed?" Maureen asked.

However, Liam suddenly became serious, took a paper tissue to wipe his hands, and turned around.

Reluctantly, Maureen loosened her arms around his waist.

Liam mildly leaned down, forcing her shoulders.

Under the kitchen light, Liam’s dark eyes stared at her intently.

Maureen saw her own reflection in his eyes. Maureen: "What’s wrong?" Liam said to her, "I’m really fine, little mask, don’t think about it anymore, it’s all in the past."

Maureen still looked sadly at him.

Liam spoke in a mild tone: "Actually, what Demon said might sound scary, but it really isn’t a big deal.

Every household has its own difficult book to read.

You might not know much about Drake.

Don’t be fooled by his playboy appearance, acting like the apple of God’s eye.

His parents have long divorced, their scandalous affairs are all over the town, endlessly fighting each other in court, and they have a bunch of illegitimate children.

Nine out of ten of them want to fight for the family’s property, it’s enough to give anyone a headache.

But he also appears cool and composed during the day, doesn’t he? Now look at what happened in your family.

I almost had a heart attack at the police station that night.

I almost crippled your second brother. I would have done him a favour if I didn’t break his arm and leg.

However, you came out fine on the other end, fluttering forward like a small butterfly, so far ahead they can only gawk in awe.

What could possibly go wrong with me? With wealth, attractiveness, and a beautiful little mask, am I not a winner in life?

Anyone else would be dying of jealousy, yet you really feel sorry for me.

How silly is that? Your boyfriend is a strong one, please do not treat him as a delicate flower, okay?"

Maureen felt like crying and laughing at what Liam said.

"What is this fluttering thing? Did you even pass?"

Liam raised his eyebrows and began to laugh: "So let’s live well, continue to move forward, eat when we should, drink when we should, date when we should, and kiss when we should -"

Then he lowered his head, held Maureen’s face, and suddenly "chuu" on her cheek. Maureen: "... what is this sudden poetic recital?"

Liam was proud and triumphant, just like a smug teenager: "The creator, Liam."

Maureen laughed at him until her hiccups finally stopped.

"Hey, hey, hey, the noodles are about to spill over," Maureen cried out, quickly pushed Liam away and turned off the stove.

==========

Finally, Maureen stopped crying, and Liam breathed a sigh of relief.

The television was on, and the pair began eating noodles on high stools at the bar.

The hot steam warmed their faces. After finishing their meal, Liam solemnly said: "I’ll wash the dishes."

His so-called dish-washing was simply putting dishes and Spoon into the dishwasher.

Maureen glanced at him before taking an orange from the refrigerator to peel.

Once peeled, she tossed the skin into the trash and split the orange in half, approaching Liam and calling out his name.

Liam turned his head towards her.

Maureen raised her hand, gently placing a piece of the orange into his mouth.

"Is it sweet?" Maureen asked.

Caught off guard, Liam felt a sudden cool sensation on his lips.

Upon encountering the citrus slice, his lips also brushed against the tips of Maureen’s fingers.

The girl’s fingers were slender and soft.

Oblivious to his reactions, she naively fed him before lowering her head and taking a piece of the orange for herself.

As she gently opened her lips, her fingertips also brushed against them.

At the moment of the touch, her lips slightly sunk and then returned plump and moist.

Liam looked at her fingers, then at her lips, and his blood sugar surged in an instant. "...

Sweet."

He managed to swallow the orange, his heartbeat thumping wildly.

Unaware of the feelings she had stirred within Liam, Maureen continued to feed him the remaining pieces of the orange.

Before she could put the last piece into his mouth, Liam could no longer restrain himself.

Grasping her waist, he pressed her against the refrigerator and stole a deep French kiss straight out of a scene from a romantic movie.

"Mmm..." Maureen could not explain what she felt at the moment, it was undoubtedly wild.

Her blood raced to her head, and it felt like even her soul was being kissed senseless. Liam was blushing while he kissed her.

His arm held against the fridge, letting Maureen’s head lean into his elbow, his other hand softly playing with Maureen’s waist, so tender and innocent in the kiss.

It was he who had pushed Maureen against the fridge, but with the way he blushed, it was as if Maureen pressed him for the kiss as though he was the victim.

Soft lips connected, tasting entirely of sour and sweet oranges.

The surrounding air gradually heated up. Maureen was a bit out of breath and her legs started to weaken.

She instinctively held onto Liam’s collar, pulling him closer to herself.

If Liam kept his distance, she felt it was too far.

However, once his body pressed closer, surrounded by the familiar pine scent of the boy, Maureen felt a warmth envelop her, as if she were a shrimp being cooked.

"I, I can’t..." In the middle of their kiss, Maureen softened and slid downward, mumbling woozily.

Her mind went blank. She felt like a limp little creature. Liam picked her up and continued to kiss her for a while before he stopped.

When their lips parted, Liam lingered and pecked her lips again and again as if his blushing ears were nipping rice.

Maureen, leaning against the fridge, laughed at him: "Your ears are so red."

Liam stubbornly denied it, suppressing his embarrassed smile, "Isn’t it just too hot?

Little face mask, it’s definitely you who turned the heater up too high."

Maureen was choked, "What the hell? You are the one who feels embarrassed, and you still blame me???"

Liam seemed to have heard some absurd joke: "Shyness? That word certainly doesn’t exist in this gentleman’s dictionary!"

Maureen: "What should one do if her boyfriend is too arrogant?

"Oh, geez, it’s so annoying.

Let’s break up, let’s break up."

Maureen joked and tried to run off.

Liam, however, promptly grabbed her back.

No splitting up, not even over his dead body.
