The raise of Maureen Smith and her Good Luck System
Chapter 108: Why are all eyes on me?

Chapter 108: Why are all eyes on me?

The air became awkward and tense for a moment.

Maureen said, "The teacher will review the test papers in the afternoon.

We should head back early. I have to leave in half an hour."

Liam nodded and said coldly, "Yes, we should get going.

Let’s not delay the main affair."

The two of them began to walk side by side towards the hotel. Suddenly, Liam rummaged through his single-strap bag and pulled out a stick of golden pen. Under the sunshine, the golden pen glowed with a sparkling Sheen.

He held it quietly in his hand and offered it.

Just beyond the tree-lined road is traffic noise, mostly obscured by Liam’s tall figure.

Only tranquility and the passage of time remain.

A sugar-coated hawthorn stick is wrapped in clean plastic wrap, which is further covered in a layer of newspaper.

The exposed top hawthorn is smeared with honey syrup, and its rich red exterior has a hint of golden, looking both sour and sweet.

"Here." Liam stands with one hand in his pocket and briefly glances at the traffic. He casually hands it to Maureen.

Maureen lights up, "Where did you get this?" "Ugh.

The driver who dropped me off bought it for his son and got an extra."

Once Maureen took it. Liam proudly shoved his other hand in his pocket, his face filled with distaste as he said, "I can’t possibly use such effeminate stuff, so you’ll have to use it for me."

Maureen took it and kept it inside her bag before speaking indistinctly, "I appreciate it.

How old is your driver? Is he handsome?" Liam was visibly frustrated at her nonchalance, retorting,

"What are you thinking?! Mr. Boris is already married!" Maureen: "..." What was she thinking about? She wasn’t thinking about anything!!

"By the way, thanks for the gift, I really like it." Maureen held up the haw, saying, "I’ll return the favor with a gift too."

While saying that, Maureen felt a bit nervous, and couldn’t help but lick her lips.

The sweetness of the syrup reached her heart. "Huh, what’s that?" Liam was unfamiliar with the idea of a return gift and, despite not being too thrilled about it, he would accept it, given that Little Mask insisted on giving it.

At a shaded walkway near the hotel entrance, it was noon, and the sunlight fell on her face, causing a somewhat warm sting.

Maureen, suppressing her wild heartbeat, acted nonchalantly as she pulled out a crystal hair tie from her coat pocket.

It was a deep black, glinting like a raven feather, looking beautifully transparent under the sunlight.

Of course, one could still tell that it was a girl’s hairband. Liam thought that the little girl was about to tie up her hair, but instead, she asked him to stretch out his hand, "This is a gift in return for yours."

Maureen’s fingers made brief contact with Liam’s palm.

Just like a feather gently brushing past, a numbness spread throughout Liam’s palm. Liam: ??? A hairband? But his hair was so short that it didn’t need to be tied up.

The way girls think was really hard to understand. Liam: "What is this?" Maureen felt that although Liam was bad-tempered and hot-headed, always looking like a touchy durian, and didn’t attract many girls, he was so handsome, there were bound to be many admirers—including the girl he was playing flying chess with earlier.

Although he hadn’t realized this yet and she was unsure if he had feelings for her, following Maureen’s usual practice, she wanted to claim him before everyone else, stake her territory, and add him to her own realm of possession.

Seeing him wear a girl’s hairband, other girls would know that he was already taken and wouldn’t easily approach him. ——Particularly, the previous game of Ludo.

"There’s nothing," Maureen vaguely deceived him: "It’s just a hairband, I thought it was pretty, so I took it to the mountain to be blessed.

You should wear it, it’ll be good for your luck."

Hearing that Maureen went to the mountain especially to get it blessed for him, Liam’s fair neck flushed red.

His face showed a hint of ’disdain for such girlie stuff’, but he ended up reluctantly putting it on his right hand. It did seem a bit feminine.

A tall boy of 188 cm sporting such a small hair tie. However, Maureen couldn’t help but laugh, in high spirits.

She felt as if she had left a mark on Liam saying ’this is my belonging’ without him knowing it.

"I’m going into the hotel now, see you next week," Maureen waved her hand and entered the hotel.

"Okay," Liam also raised his hand to wave, grinning, "Hurry up and go, or else you’ll delay me from attending my business here."

After Maureen went in, Liam stood at the hotel door for a while before finally leaving with a smile on his lips.

A black car arrived after a short while. He got into it.

After getting into the car, the driver couldn’t help but stare at the small hair tie on his right hand.

What’s going on?!! Has the young master fallen in love?! "What are you looking at?"

Even though Liam thought the hair tie on his hand looked a bit effeminate, he still cherished it, hurriedly pulling down his sleeve to cover it, not allowing the driver to see.

After satisfactorily rolling his sleeves down, he couldn’t resist showing off and pulled them back up again.

He put on a sullen face and held his wrist out in front of Mr. Boris, gloating,

"You’ve been dying to take a look, so here you go. It’s been blessed, you know.

Bet you don’t have one." Mr. Boris: "..." My foolish boss son.

=========

The training camp time flies by, and Noella’s girls have only faced conflict once.

As the intensity of the competition training escalated, the twenty-one people in the team were too busy burying themselves in training to engage in such nuisances.

During the ten days of training, the other participants’ impressions of Maureen changed.

At first, they thought she got her spot through connections.

She didn’t have much of a reputation in the competition circle, and they presumed her to be just another participant.

However, they were taken aback as she solved many difficult problems during the training and wasn’t slower than Richard’s team.

So these people began to gradually admire her.

But, at this moment, they merely started to change their initial impression, acknowledging her ability to get in through genuine skill, but they still didn’t think she could achieve any significant results in the competition - the intercollegiate contest is filled with highly competent individuals after all.

Even if she was strong, her level was at best just an ordinary top student competitior. So, amid the busyness, the ten days passed.

The group set off to return to school.

The day they returned to school was a Tuesday. The bus slowly arrived at the school entrance, right at ten o’clock in the morning, during the second period.

All the students were in the classroom, the school was quite empty except for the occasional teachers who passed by.

As they were heading towards the building of the three classes, they came across a few day-duty students throwing out the trash from the Evergreen class and the National class.

These day-duty students all looked this way, whispering while covering their mouths.

The people returning from the training found this a bit puzzling - when they went for the training, they had basically handed in their cellphones, so they had no idea what had happened in school.

Did they miss something?

Getting closer and closer, some of the ones returning from training couldn’t help but take out their cell phones to check the forum to see if anything had happened.

After checking, someone exclaimed softly,

"Holy cow!"

"What happened?" someone asked.

"You’ll see for yourself."

Bianca was just about to walk to the classroom door, glancing at Maureen going upstairs in her peripheral vision, contemplating on how to reclaim her lost ground.

Would it be helpful to run away from home?

Probably something needed to be done before running away from home could even be considered.

Suddenly, she felt something unusual.

Many people in the classroom began to look up, their eyes peculiar, filled with a spectator’s excitement.

Were they looking at - Herself?
