Chapter 492: 491 No disturbance (second update)

Li Xianyun’s cheeks were reddened from the cold, her long eyelashes fluttering, breathing out warm air as her pleasant voice came through now and then.

"Husband, look, does this little rabbit I stepped on look like one?"

"Like."

He added, "Very much so."

Yelu Yan never skimped on praises for his own woman.

He didn’t say these words just to please Li Xianyun; the paintings she created with her steps really resembled their subjects, with just a few strokes capturing the animals’ likenesses and spirits incredibly vividly.

"Then I’ll step on a little cat now."

To avoid ruining the integrity of the painting, Li Xianyun needed to jump to the position of the eyes after stepping out the outline and then, after finishing, jump to the position of the mouth.

Her tiny, delicate steps were unbearably cute.

Because stepping on another small animal required a gap in between, Li Xianyun squatted and hopped towards a spot not far off, but her feet started to slide.

Seeing this, Yelu Yan’s heart immediately rose to his throat, exclaiming in alarm, "Watch out!"

As he spoke, he took a large step forward, stretching out his arms.

Fortunately, Li Xianyun steadied herself after a few wobbles.

A false alarm.

Yelu Yan stopped in his tracks, but his heart had been lifted, thumping wildly.

This little woman really was a handful.

"Be careful," Yelu Yan advised earnestly.

Li Xianyun did not even spare him a glance, continuing her tiny steps and saying indifferently, "It’s fine, the snow is thick, falling wouldn’t hurt. It’s just a shame for the painting I just completed."

As headstrong as ever.

Yelu Yan couldn’t help but sigh softly.

But what could he do?

One must always indulge one’s own woman, so he decided to watch her more closely, taking even greater care.

Seeing that the little cat was nearly completed, Yelu Yan worried that snow might have gotten into her boots and chilled her feet, which would not be good.

The experience of frostbite was unpleasant.

The affected area would itch unbearably now and then, and if not properly protected the following year, frostbite could reoccur in the same spot.

He certainly did not want his woman to suffer such pain needlessly.

"Xianxian, come out after you finish the little cat, or your boots will get wet."

Li Xianyun did not even look up, "I don’t want to, I still want to step on a little bird."

She sure knew how to refuse outright.

However, Yelu Yan wasn’t entirely without means to manage her, "If you don’t listen, your husband will go in and carry you out. You can’t fuss if the painting gets ruined."

Can’t fuss?

Li Xianyun huffed softly, as if he had likened her to a disobedient child.

"Alright, alright, don’t come in. I’ll come out once I’m done," she said.

Yelu Yan smiled and hummed in acknowledgment, continuing to watch her without blinking.

Li Xianyun finished stepping on the little brain, following the cat’s tail back, standing on the cat’s paws.

Yelu Yan had already positioned himself opposite her, a meter and a bit away.

Since Li Xianyun had hopped inwards a little while painting, she had to jump out in order not to destroy it.

Yelu Yan stood at the edge of the snow, extending his long arms, smiling, "Jump, I’ll catch you."

Li Xianyun gave a hum, crouched, and leaped over.

Yelu Yan bent down and enveloped Li Xianyun in his arms, turning smoothly to stand firmly on the stone pavement.

The two embraced, laughter spilling from them both.

Yelu Yan hugged Li Xianyun tightly, setting her down securely on the ground, and then leaned down to tidy her hair on her forehead, and planted a deep kiss on her lips, chuckling, "Disobedient."

Hearing this, Li Xianyun flared up like an agitated little bird, feigning anger as she struggled to say, "Fine, since you’ve said that, I’ll keep stepping on the painting. I won’t listen to you anymore."
