The Princess and Her Rough-Rider Khan -
Chapter 467 - 466 Old Friends Meet (Second Watch)
Chapter 467: 466 Old Friends Meet (Second Watch)
Princess Jinyu watched Li Xianyun with cold eyes, truly wanting to tear off her facade of innocent purity that did nothing but seduce men.
"You knew from the very beginning that there was a problem with this shop and that I was competing with you, so you raised the price again and again just to trick me into falling for it, didn’t you?"
This morning, she received news of a disturbance and learned that the shop’s owner had previously amassed a large gambling debt, and the shop had been mortgaged as well.
So even though those thugs and hooligans were openly trying to seize it, with the black and white written agreement there, the Official Government could do nothing about them.
Such a pity for those tens of thousands of silver.
She had money and did not care about it, but this feeling of humiliation was truly unbearable.
On her way here, Princess Jinyu thought over the whole affair and finally understood where the crux of the matter lay.
Li Xianyun said, "Everyone has their own thoughts, if Princess Jinyu wants to think that way, I can’t do anything about it."
Princess Jinyu clenched her teeth angrily, "What would Khan think if he knew of the consort’s schemes, I wonder?"
Li Xianyun chuckled lightly.
Princess Jinyu, looking at Li Xianyun’s radiant smile, felt her teeth itch with hatred, "What are you laughing at?"
Li Xianyun said with a smile, "You should worry less about me and think more about how to explain to Khan the matter of letting Ji Chuchu escape."
Princess Jinyu’s complexion instantly turned pale, "You... I don’t know what you’re talking about?"
Yelu Yan had always been ruthless and would certainly want to eradicate the Nanwang Mansion completely.
If Yelu Yan were to learn that she had rescued Ji Chuchu and set her free, she and the entire Yue Country would have no way to explain it to Yelu Yan.
"Don’t you know exactly what I’m talking about?"
As she spoke, Li Xianyun let the carriage curtain down and commanded, "Let’s go."
Princess Jinyu stood frozen in place like a statue until her personal maid said, "Princess, shall we go to the shop to have a look?"
"What’s there to look at, back to the official residence!"
The shop’s tens of thousands of silver were not worth mentioning at all.
Now, she needed to rush back to the official residence urgently to discuss with her no-good brother how to deal with Yelu Yan.
Li Xianyun arrived at Xuanyi Pavilion with her people to treat patients with serious illnesses.
Among the many matters she dealt with, what she liked most was healing the sick.
Seeing those patients long tormented by illness relieved of their pain was very fulfilling and enjoyable.
While Li Xianyun was treating someone, Youlan came over and whispered in her ear, "Master, that person has come again."
Li Xianyun stood up excitedly.
Startling the patient she was diagnosing.
Li Xianyun said apologetically, "Old sir, please wait here for a moment, I’ll be right back."
With that, she hurried towards the door.
Lately, there had always been a woman lingering outside Xuanyi Pavilion.
Excited by the description of the woman’s appearance, Li Xianyun asked her people to pay close attention and instructed them to detain the woman if she came again and to inform her immediately.
Li Xianyun rushed out from under the tall gatehouse of Xuanyi Pavilion and saw Ge Lei stopping a tall and thin woman.
"Madam, please wait a moment. My Family Head wishes to see you; someone has been sent to inform her and I believe she will arrive shortly," Ge Lei persuaded.
The woman, upon hearing this, was still intent on leaving.
"I have matters to tend to at home; seeing each other later will not be too late."
Being a woman, Ge Lei was hesitant to use force, and just as she seemed unable to stop her, she saw Li Xianyun come out and said joyfully, "Madam, my Family Head has come out."
The woman froze upon hearing these words.
Li Xianyun gazed at the all-too-familiar figure, and her eyes immediately misted over, "Master."
The woman pondered for a moment before slowly turning around.
Youlan saw a dignified and beautiful face.
Time had etched quite a few wrinkles on her face, but it was still easy to see that she had been very pretty when she was younger.
Although Youlan and Li Xianyun lived in the same village, Youlan had no real impression of her since the woman kept to herself and seldom went out.
Li Xianyun ran over and hugged the woman, acting just like she did when she was a child.
The woman gently patted her back with her hand.
She had always treated Li Xianyun as if she were her own daughter, or else she wouldn’t have passed on all her knowledge to her.
Li Xianyun said, her voice tinged with tears, "Master, where have you been all these years? Xianxian thought... thought..."
Her master had seemingly vanished into thin air overnight. Whether she was dead or alive, Li Xianyun didn’t know, and she searched for her master for many years.
There were also traces of tears in the woman’s eyes as she smiled, "Xianxian, you’re so grown up, how can you still cry like a child at the drop of a hat?"
Li Xianyun replied with a smile, "No matter how old Xianxian is, in front of Master, it’s all the same, always throwing tantrums, always crying."
The woman’s smile was so broad it was as if she couldn’t close her mouth.
Li Xianyun stood upright, "Master, have you been well these years?"
Just now, she had asked her master where she had been all these years, but her master had not pursued that line of conversation. Li Xianyun knew that her master did not wish to say more about it, so she didn’t ask any further.
"Quite well."
Li Xianyun pretended to be displeased, "Master, knowing that I was at the Xuanyi Pavilion, why didn’t you come to find me? Did I do something wrong to anger you?"
The woman laid her hand on Li Xianyun’s fair and delicate face, caressing it with evident affection, and laughed, "How could a good girl like Xianxian possibly anger me?"
"Then why did you avoid me?"
The woman’s face showed the weight of the years as she said, "Some reasons in the past compelled me to leave without saying goodbye. I feared that Xianxian would harbor resentment."
Li Xianyun wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, "How could Xianxian dare to resent Master? I was just worried about you every day, afraid that you would encounter bad people."
She paused, then smiled, "But now, all is well. We are reunited. I have so many things I want to tell you. Let’s find a quiet place to talk."
The woman nodded with a smile.
However, just as they were about to leave, Li Xianyun remembered something and said, "Master, could you wait for me at the Xuanyi Pavilion for a while? I still have a few patients I haven’t finished treating."
"That’s fine."
Li Xianyun, with her arm linked in the woman’s, returned to the consultation room of the Xuanyi Pavilion.
The woman sat down behind her.
After treating a few patients, Li Xianyun turned to look at the woman and smiled, "Master, did I do anything wrong just now?"
Her heart was very anxious while she was treating the patients, fearing that she might not do well.
The woman raised her hand to stroke Li Xianyun’s hair, smiling, "You did very well, your medical skills have improved significantly."
As she had been watching from the side, a thought came to her – "blue is made out of indigo but is more vivid than it." If we were to truly compare, Li Xianyun’s medical skills had surpassed her own.
Li Xianyun indeed had a natural gift for medicine, she hadn’t been mistaken.
"As long as I didn’t do anything wrong. I was really nervous just now, afraid that I would make a mistake and embarrass Master," Li Xianyun said with a laugh.
The woman tapped Li Xianyun’s forehead lightly with her hand, smiling, "You, you’re still just like when you were a child, always able to make people happy."
