Chapter 191: 185: Is Zhizhi planning to murder her own husband?_2

His fingertip gently caressed the slightly swollen, crimson lips of the young girl, wiping away the enticing gloss left behind, bit by bit.

"Zhizhi." Shi Wei murmured the little girl’s name, burying himself in her neck, greedily and obsessively taking in that faint sweet fragrance.

Yu Zhi gave a soft response, wrapping her arms around his slim waist and leaning dependently on his shoulder: "Did you finish handling the matters over there?"

"Mm."

"Did you eat the takeout?"

"I ate." For the first time, Shi Wei lied in order to keep the little girl from worrying. And luckily, she didn’t catch the expression on his face at that moment; otherwise... he would’ve been exposed.

Yu Zhi didn’t overthink. She leaned back slightly, gazing into those almond-shaped, upward-curving eyes and stroking his weary cheeks: "It’s late, go get some rest first."

Having rushed back at this hour, it was clear the man had opted to drive himself. She couldn’t bear to let this drag on further, depriving him of sleep.

"Alright." Shi Wei kissed her on the forehead.

He first carried her to the bed, went to the bathroom to take a quick shower, and then lifted the corner of the quilt to lie next to his little one.

As soon as the soft and delicate figure nestled into his embrace, Shi Wei suddenly felt that everything he’d done, all of the exhaustion, was worth it.

The bright moonlight slipped quietly through the gap in the curtains.

The cool, white radiance fell upon the man and woman entwined in sleep, enveloping the warm and tender scene, spreading as if sunshine, filling the room with warmth.

The night hastened forward, and the early morning dew blanketed the campus green with a thin veil of mist.

Droplets slid slowly off the tips of the grass blades, silent and unobtrusive, seeping into the soil and leaving behind faint marks.

The aroma of breakfast mingled with the sound of footsteps, drifting through the hallways of the school building, only to dissipate into the air shortly after the class bell rang.

Professor Ma, clad in a black jacket and holding a lesson plan, stood on the podium in Grade 12, Class 7, earnestly imparting knowledge to the students below.

Perhaps it was because of his unusually good mood today, but his tone was noticeably gentler than usual, and the smile on his face never faded.

Yet despite this, not a single student in the class dared to slack off; all remained focused and attentive—including Yu Zhi.

She diligently took notes, leaving no detail behind, even marking the blank spaces with their importance and explanations.

Professor Ma glanced toward the rear of the classroom several times, seemingly inadvertently, and when he noticed the girl’s progress, satisfaction gleamed in his eyes.

A math lesson, beginning with the crisp and articulate voice from the podium, concluded with the "swish swish" of pens on paper in students’ hands.

"Little Zhi, you’ve taken so many notes?" Qin Huai stared in disbelief at the girl’s notebook, covered from edge to edge in dense writing.

"Mm, I plan to do well on the exam this time." As for other subjects, those could wait—she had promised Professor Ma, and she had to make good on it.

The girl’s serious expression left Qin Huai not only amazed but also feeling a bit inadequate.

She glancing quietly at her own notebook, pinned under her arm, which contained only a few sparse words, and sighed in frustration, patting her forehead.

After a moment of contemplation, Qin Huai gently poked the girl’s arm beside her and raised a corner of her lips: "Little Zhi, can I borrow your notes to take a look?"

"Sure." Yu Zhi tidied up her notes and handed them over.

She lazily stretched, propping her face on one hand, her gaze sweeping across the classroom.

By chance, her eyes met an unignorable glance.

Lu Li, caught red-handed in his stolen glances, didn’t bother to avoid it anymore. He held her gaze for a few seconds, his eyes filled with a complicated emotion that couldn’t be put into words.

The noisy chatter grew closer, and he curled his lips into a faint smile at her before quickly turning away.

But the test paper clutched tightly in his hand showed faint cracks, its surface frayed as if torn.

Since his confession in the hallway had been rejected last time, the two hadn’t had another private conversation, nor even shared the simplest exchanges classmates might.

Lu Li forced himself not to seek her out, forced himself not to disturb her.

Yet his heart defied him, perpetually commanding him to observe her every move.

Like a voyeur hiding in the dark—ridiculous and pitiful—entangled in an alley with no end and no light.

He longed for her, hoping she could illuminate his world like a ray of sunlight, bringing warmth, guiding him forward.
