The Mistress Is Reborn As The Fiancée -
Chapter 32: Sweet Little Angels
Chapter 32: Sweet Little Angels
The quiet solitude of Grandmother Jia’s chambers offered a welcome respite from the lingering tension that permeated the Ryu estate following Arryn’s return. The soft early morning sunlight streamed through the ornate windows, casting a warm glow on the antique furniture and delicate porcelain teacups. Grandmother Jia, her expression thoughtful, sat in her favorite armchair, her gaze fixed on the intricate patterns of the Persian rug.
Rose, her loyal and discreet maid, moved with practiced grace, pouring steaming tea into delicate china cups. The aroma of jasmine and ginger filled the air, a soothing counterpoint to the unspoken anxieties that weighed on Grandmother Jia’s mind.
"Rose," Grandmother Jia began, her voice soft but firm, "I am insulted."
Rose paused, her eyebrows raised in gentle inquiry. "Insulted, Grandmother?" she asked, her voice laced with a quiet concern. "Whatever could have upset you so?"
"Areum and Flynn," Grandmother Jia said, her voice laced with a hint of exasperation. "They both think they are deceiving me with their... pretend marriage."
Rose chuckled softly, a gentle sound that filled the room. "They are young, Grandmother," she said, her voice laced with a gentle understanding. "They believe they are being clever."
"Clever?" Grandmother Jia scoffed, her voice laced with a hint of amusement. "They are being foolish. I have lived a long life, Rose. I have seen more than they can imagine. I know a forced smile when I see one. I know a carefully constructed facade when I see one."
She sighed, her gaze shifting to the window, her eyes filled with a quiet concern. "My only worry is that Areum is too stubborn, too blind to see what is right in front of her. She may not realize that Flynn loves her until it is too late."
Rose poured a cup of tea, the gentle clinking of china a soothing melody. "Love is a complicated matter, Grandmother," she said, her voice laced with a gentle wisdom. "It often takes time to blossom."
"Time that they may not have," Grandmother Jia said, her voice laced with a hint of urgency. "I have to intervene, Rose. I cannot allow my foolish granddaughter to make a mistake that she will regret for the rest of her life."
Rose offered the tea cup to Grandmother Jia. "Perhaps it is best to let them find their own way, Grandmother," she said, her voice laced with a gentle warning. "Interfering in the affairs of young lovers can often have unintended consequences."
"What could those little babies know? I have lived king and i know what is best for them." Grandmother Jia said before she took a sip of the tea, her eyes closing in momentary bliss. The warmth spread through her, chasing away the lingering anxieties.
"This tea," she murmured, her voice laced with a quiet appreciation, "is truly remarkable. It is as if a single sip can restore my very soul."
Rose smiled, a gentle, knowing smile. "It is a special blend, Grandmother," she said, her voice laced with a hint of mystery. "I wonder how Flynn got his hands on it."
"My grandson in-law is a remarkable young man, and that is exactly why I need to ensure he does not slip out of Areum’s hands simply because she is blind."
Rose shook her head at her mistress’s stubbornness. She knew that once the old lady set her mind on something, nothing short of a natural disaster would shake her.
Grandmother Jia opened her eyes, her gaze sharp and focused. "Besides that, I’m going to need some more of this tea" she said, her voice laced with a newfound determination. "How else will I get the tea if my grandson in-law is rejected by Areum?"
She took another sip of the tea, her mind racing with possibilities. She had to find a way to bring Areum and Flynn together, to break down the walls they had built around themselves. She had to make them see the love that could blossom between them. They needed to give her babies now that she could still hold them in her arms.
"I cannot stand idly by and watch them make a mess of their lives," she declared, her voice laced with a quiet determination. "I must act. I must intervene."
Rose, her expression thoughtful, watched Grandmother Jia, her eyes filled with a mixture of concern and understanding. She knew that Grandmother Jia was a force of nature, a woman who was determined to have her way. She also knew that her intentions were good, that she truly cared for Areum and Flynn. She just hoped that the old lady did not make a mess of things, one would think that she had learned from her previous experience.
"Perhaps," Rose said, her voice laced with a gentle suggestion, "a subtle approach would be best, Grandmother. A gentle nudge, a carefully placed word, a well-timed... coincidence."
Grandmother Jia’s eyes gleamed with a mischievous delight. "Coincidence," she echoed, her voice laced with a playful amusement. "I like the sound of that, Rose. I have always been rather good at orchestrating... coincidences."
She took another sip of tea, her mind already formulating a plan. She knew that she could find a way to bring Areum and Flynn together, to create opportunities for them to connect, to reveal their true feelings.
She would use all of her wisdom, all her experience, all her... coincidences to ensure that her granddaughter found happiness. She would not allow Areum to make the same mistakes she had made, to live a life filled with regrets and lost chances.
She was Grandmother Jia, and she would not be denied. She would make sure that Areum and Flynn found their way to each other. And she would enjoy every minute of it.
She imagined the sweet little angels that her two beautiful grandchildren would give her running around the house. If they were left to their own devices, who knows when they would get around to having children? No, she needed to intervene and quickly too.
