Chapter 1013: Chapter 1012: The Divine Song Appears!

"Alright everyone, I hope you don’t hold any prejudice against Lu Mian. The reason we’re fortunate to have so many academicians personally teaching our Elite Class this year—even some who’ve come out of retirement to return to campus—is all because of Lu Mian."

The twenty-nine students fell silent immediately, even feeling a bit unwilling to accept it.

In other words, it wasn’t the Elite Class that was exceptional—it was Lu Mian who was too exceptional. Were they all just riding on Lu Mian’s coattails?

That idea bruised the egos of these high-achieving top students.

Lu Yutian smiled and advised the boys around her, "We’re all classmates. Lu Mian’s just a bit aloof by nature. She and I are both girls, so don’t bully her, okay?"

"I think she’s nothing like you..."

"Forget it, I don’t want to have to deal with her attitude every day."

"If she’s that amazing, why doesn’t she just go research some groundbreaking project by herself? How come we haven’t seen her make a robot or invent a new system yet?"

Lu Mian didn’t hear these remarks. She quickened her pace and reached the door of a classroom in the Humanities building, where Chinese Language and Literature classes were held. With one hand tucked into her pocket, she leaned calmly against the wall, quietly waiting for Little Baldy.

As the bell rang, students streamed out of the classroom one by one, and soon enough, Lu Mian spotted Sui Yuan.

Compared to before, Sui Yuan had become much more cheerful. The warmth and care of her family seemed to hold a kind of magic, gradually opening up her heart. Her face now often carried a smile, and she’d grown more confident too.

"Mianmian!"

Sui Yuan happily skipped over to Lu Mian and flipped through the book in her hand, pouting in mock disapproval. "You’re just reading a novel during class? Didn’t the professor say anything to you?"

"Not really."

Lu Mian smiled and casually ruffled Sui Yuan’s short hair, messing it up completely. "I’ve already memorized everything. I don’t need the textbook anymore."

Sui Yuan gave her a silent thumbs-up.

Mere mortals couldn’t compare to geniuses.

The two of them headed to the cafeteria together, ordered some delicately made side dishes and two bowls of rice, and sat down to enjoy their lunch.

Sui Yuan even pulled a few promotional flyers from her textbook and asked Lu Mian while eating, "Do you have any student clubs or organizations you’re thinking about joining?"

Lu Mian shook her head. She had no interest in that sort of thing.

Sui Yuan, however, seemed intrigued as she eyed the flyers, though she couldn’t decide which one to pick.

"Oh, by the way, Mianmian, my little sister has become so much fun lately. She’s even starting to smile now. When I video-called my brother, she even smiled at me."

Sui Yuan was referring to the premature baby. Although Xi Mei treated Sui Yuan poorly, Little Baldy had no defenses against the child. In fact, everyone pitied her situation and treated her quite well.

Perhaps out of a sense of compensation, Sui Yuan wanted to make up for all the unfairness she’d endured by showering this little girl with love.

"Sister Zero also helped my mom with some special medication. My mom’s health has improved so much. She can even walk for half an hour each day now without any problems."

Sui Yuan chatted about all these mundane things while eating. They weren’t particularly important, but Lu Mian listened patiently and would occasionally nod in agreement.

After finishing their meal, Sui Yuan suddenly placed a small box back into Lu Mian’s hands.

It was the protective charm she had once given Lu Mian, now being presented to her again.

Lu Mian initially wanted to refuse, but Sui Yuan was insistent.

"Mianmian, when I found my mom again, I started to believe that miracles really do exist in this world. I hope this can protect you too and help you find a family who truly loves you—the family you deserve."

Lu Mian accepted the charm from her and carefully tucked it into her pocket. She then flicked Sui Yuan on the forehead lightly. "Why are you thinking about all that? Watch out, or you’ll go bald."

"As if I haven’t been bald before..."

——

After dropping Sui Yuan off at the building next door, Lu Mian returned to her dorm room.

During her lunch break, she sent a musical piece she’d composed over the past few days to the Third Team’s commander.

It was something she’d promised the Third Team, so of course, she intended to follow through.

The Third Team merely said a quick "thanks" before going quiet. Five minutes later, he sent another message.

[I came back on my knees.]

Lu Mian: [Huh?]

Third Team: [Boss, you’re really something. Mi Lu’s composition is practically a divine piece!]

Lu Mian could tell that the Third Team commander was a diehard fan of Mi Lu. He was probably testing out the song just now.

[This is Mi Lu’s latest composition,] Lu Mian replied.

[Second Team, do you know what I think? I think this piece was custom-made for me! It’s called ’End Point War,’ right? You might not know this if you haven’t heard it yet, but I just played through it once—it’s a piano piece about peace and ending conflict. It’s just too powerful. It has to be tailor-made for me!]

Lu Mian read the message with her expression still calm. Of course, she knew it was tailor-made—for the Third Team, she’d crafted this piece about stopping wars herself.

Did he really think that Mi Lu’s music was accessible to just anyone?

Even if someone offered her money, she wouldn’t sell the rights to her compositions indiscriminately. She never wrote music for commercial purposes anyway.

On the contrary, if she met the right person, she would willingly give away the copyright for free.

After finishing his praise of Mi Lu, the Third Team couldn’t help but start singing Lu Mian’s praises as well. [Second Team, how did you even get this piece? And it’s even customized for me—you’re just too incredible!]

What the Third Team didn’t tell Lu Mian was how many walls he’d hit while trying to commission a song. At one point, he’d even considered throwing himself at Mi Lu to appeal to her directly.

Lu Mian’s response was still as composed as ever: [I just had to ask her.]

[...]

The Third Team stared dumbfounded at her reply and metaphorically offered his knees in admiration once again.

He was already looking forward to the upcoming leadership summit.

He really wanted to meet the Second Team’s commander in person to see what kind of otherworldly genius she was!
