The Masked prince
Chapter 98: Leaving The Border

Chapter 98: Leaving The Border

The same night, Regan told Elias and Evelyn that they would be leaving for Mazic the next day.

Elias was surprised as he had not expected his master to leave the border so soon. After Evelyn had left the tent to rest in her own tent, he asked his master

"Your Highness, are we leaving so soon? The letter to Royal Palace for the necessities is yet to be written."

Regan didn’t even raise his head to look at Elias. He was looking at the list prepared by him as he answered.

"Evelyn can’t stay here for long. It is very windy here. Her wound might start hurting if she stays here."

It was finally for once that Elias felt slightly weird when he heard his master’s words.

His master had never cared about these things. For him, nothing mattered. Elias remembered very well the days when his master would have wounds but he would still go to fight on the battlefield.

So this concern for Evelyn....

Elias frowned and suddenly came to a realization. It must be because Evelyn was a woman. The soldiers and her master were well-trained to bear the pain. She couldn’t tolerate it.

Thinking this, his mind and heart finally came to a rest and he heard his master continuing.

"As for the supplies, Mazic would send them to the border."

Another decision by his master surprised Elias. Mazic would send the supply to the border?

In the past, it had always been Royal Palace that had done it.

Regan didn’t tell Elias that he had received a letter from Rex just a day ago before they left for the border. Rex was investigating the matter of the fake letter they had received regarding an attack on the border which had made him and Rex leave Mazic so suddenly.

What Rex found was that someone stole the designs of the Royal stamp from the artist house who had made it. The stamp only resided with the king and he used it for official letters.

Now that the design for the stamp had been stolen. It was a huge matter. It meant that someone else could create the same stamp and use it for another purpose. It was not difficult for Regan to guess who had done it.

Raphael had simply indicated after doing all this that he was not going to stay silent now. He would use all the schemes in his hands.

Since things had come to this point, he didn’t wish to send a letter in his name to Royal Palace asking for supplies.

Who could tell if Raphael would try to use it for some other purpose? And the castle in Mazic had actually a lot of grains as they had bought it from the farmers.

He could send a few sacks to the border keeping a few for the men who were practicing in the castle.

Those sacks should be sufficient for another two months.

Until then, Rex should be able to solve the matter of the Royal stamp.

The next morning, Evelyn was ready to leave with her small bundle.

The soldiers all gathered around Lavo as they looked at the prince who was ready to leave.

Regan first sat on Lavo’s back. Behind him sat Elias.

After that, Elias looked at Evelyn wondering if he should help her in climbing on Lavo’s back. Just when he was thinking this, Regan stretched his hand out in front of Evelyn and said

"Come!"

Hence Evelyn was seated in front of the prince.

The soldiers looked at this scene and again had a feeling that Evelyn was not merely the prince’s slave.

However, they could only bury their thoughts inside their hearts.

Regan turned to look at them and their backs immediately straightened.

"Practice well."

He said coldly.

"Yes, Your Highness"

All of them said in a chorus and Lavo finally flew away.

The journey to return to Mazic was also three days. They stopped at night at a local inn to rest and then the whole day, they traveled.

Evelyn had never traveled far with the ability to look around. When she had been brought to Alfaros, her eyes had been covered by a blindfold so she could never see anything on way.

When they were coming to the border, she had been upset by the prince’s behavior so she never enjoyed the journey.

This time, she finally looked around. The crowded streets on the way when they passed cities, large elephants, and many other animals when they passed forests and so many other things Evelyn saw. Out of these, she saw many things she had never seen before in her life.

Lavo’s stamina surprised Evelyn. He could fly the whole day without any exhaustion. However, Evelyn could finally digest this surprise when she saw just how much meat the prince fed Lavo.

After four days, they finally reached Mazic.

Lavo landed inside the balcony of Regan’s chambers. Elias first came down and then Regan. With Regan’s help, Evelyn stepped down from Lavo’s back.

"You can leave now."

Regan said to Lavo but the latter was too unwilling to leave. His blue eyes were focused on Evelyn making her smile softly. After so many days, she knew what the giant creature wanted.

She immediately stepped forward and scratched his paw. As expected, he let out a small mewl in satisfaction. Evelyn didn’t understand what did he get when he scratch his paw.

Regan looked at this scene with lips pressed in a thin line.

He looked at his pet who was not even looking at him so that he could indicate to him to leave in his own way. The next moment, he stepped forward held Evelyn’s elbow, and dragged her beside him.

"She needs rest. You should leave."

Lavo growled loudly in dissatisfaction but seeing’s master’s firm gaze, he could only leave in the end.

And just at that moment, Rex stepped inside the balcony and looked at Regan.

"We need to talk."

He said firmly. After that, he glanced at Evelyn. His eyes stayed on her wrist for a long time before he finally turned around to go back inside the chambers.
