Chapter 87: A Familiar Place
What Evelyn had thought was very wrong.
Yes she get to stay with the prince ...almost all the time. However, she could still feel his estrangement towards herself.
Like when she asked him questions, he would never reply to her.
"Your Highness, when will we reach?"
She asked softly and cautiously...only to hear silence in return. It was Elias who answered her question in the end.
"On the fourth day."
Evelyn was not discouraged. She still tried her best to talk to the prince. What more could happen? She wondered. He would scold her, shout at her. She could bear that but she couldn’t bear his silence.
However, nothing she tried worked.
When they stopped to have food at some restaurant she tried to serve him on her own, however, she only saw him passing that plate to Elias and then making a new plate for himself.
Evelyn couldn’t dare to do anything again. Her heart was too cold to try to do anything. The whole way, she never spoke again.
They only stopped to eat and have some rest at the inn.
As Elias had said, it was indeed after three days that they reached the border. As soon as they did, many soldiers surrounded the prince.
Seeing their joyful faces, Evelyn could tell that this soldiers really respected the prince and were very happy to see him. Regardless of how upset she was, Evelyn still felt proud of her master.
He must be a very good leader to gain all this.
The soldiers were looking at Evelyn curiously. Regan saw their gazes on Evelyn’s wrist and his lips were pressed in a thin line.
In the end, he said coldly
"Are you all this free? Is it because General now doesn’t assign any work or there is not anything to do?"
The middle aged general immediately shooed all the soldiers away when he heard the prince’s words and asked a few of them to prepare tents for the prince.
Though they didn’t ask in front of the prince, a few soldiers still came and ask Elias about Evelyn. Elias didn’t think that there was anything to hide and told them everything honestly.
Evelyn was prince’s slave.
The information shocked many people on the border.
How could it not shock them! They have stayed on the border with the prince for so many days. They were aware exactly how many times the king had sent beauties for the prince but every time the prince would throw them out of his tent.
So when they realized that the prince had a girl slave by his side, they couldn’t help but feel shocked.
Initially, Elias himself had been shocked. So he could understand the soldiers. However, he didn’t pay any attention to them and instead went to help Evelyn in building the tent.
She didn’t know how to make one and Elias could see this.
As they built the tent, Elias finally asked Evelyn
"Evelyn, is Your Highness angry at you?"
No matter how dumb Elias was, he could still realize this after three days of continuous journey. The prince’s actions of staying far away from Evelyn were quite obvious throughout these three days.
Evelyn stiffened when she heard the question and looked at him silently. Elias felt sad for her and asked curiously
"Girl, what did you do wrong?"
Evelyn sighed. How many times she had not thought about it but there was only one answer.
"I think His Highness blames for whatever happened in the castle and Royal Palace."
Elias frowned in confusion before he understood what she was talking about. The next moment, he shook his head wildly and said firmly
"My master is not that unreasonable, Evelyn. What was your fault in whatever happened? You must have done something else which His Highness didn’t like. Try to remember."
Evelyn sighed when she heard Elias and silently contemplated on this matter. But there was nothing which she could remember that could have offend the prince.
The whole night she could not sleep soundly. As a result, there were big black dark circles under her eyes the next morning.
When Elias saw her, he couldn’t help but laugh. Evelyn ignored him and had the breakfast with the soldiers.
She could feel the soldier’s gazes on herself from time to time but she didn’t look at them at all.
However, she couldn’t have her fill because of this as well.
Regan who saw her standing up and leaving frowned deeply knowing that she ate very less.
He looked at the soldiers coldly and said
"All of you will get only half of the amount of breakfast you eat usually."
The soldiers were shocked when they heard this and wondered what they did wrong. But they knew better to argue with the prince and just concentrated on having whatever meal they were getting.
After they finished breakfast, Elias again came to Evelyn’s tent and told her that the prince was calling her.
Evelyn immediately kept aside everything she was doing and followed him.
When she reached the place where the prince was waiting for her, she saw him standing in front of Lavo. Seeing that she was here, he sat on Lavo and then said without looking at her.
"Sit."
Evelyn looked at Elias in confusion who looked equally confused. In the end, she followed the prince’s words and sat in front of him.
Soon, Lavo was flying high in the sky.
Evelyn felt the support of firm chest behind her back but didn’t dare to lean on it. She felt suddenly very nervous wondering where they were going.
However, since they were in the sky she couldn’t find anything.
After some time, Lavo started to go down. It was only then Evelyn saw a street filled with people. When a few of them saw Lavo approaching them, they panicked and started to run here and there.
As she looked at the approaching shop, her heart started to fill with panic.
How could she not recognize it! This place was deeply engraved in her memory.
After all, this was the same place where she had been sold to.
