Chapter 83: Evelyn Goes To See Regan

Rex suddenly left Mazic and Regan didn’t know where exactly he went. He only saw a letter in his chambers where Rex wrote that he would return soon.

Since he left the letter, Regan didn’t worry much.

The training in the castle continued. Martha had appointed more servants now. People in the city were actually scared to work inside the castle now after the news spread in the city about the sudden invasion.

However, the servants and maids themselves went to every street of Mazic to ensure that the prince didn’t let any harm come to them.

And that was true.

Even those two maids who had been serving Evelyn and were injured by the two guards from Royal Palace were tended to by Dan as soon as they left.

Yes, one of the guards lost his life but Regan promised the family that the castle would take the whole responsibility for them.

In fact, Regan himself went to the city and assured people that he was training more people and soon Mazic would be guarded by them. There was no chance of any invasion like before.

After all this, people finally started to flock to the castle for getting jobs.

However, one thing remained the same in all this. Regan didn’t go to see Evelyn.

On the other hand, Evelyn was recovering as time passed. However, as time passed, her heart sank day by day when she didn’t see the prince visiting her again.

She wanted to step out and see him, talk to him, and ask him so many questions that were bubbling up inside her heart, however, Dan preferred that she should wait.

She should not step outside until cold winds recede from the Mazic.

Since she couldn’t step out and the prince didn’t come to visit her, both of them didn’t see each other face for another week.

What Evelyn didn’t know was that maybe Regan was not visiting her but every day he would call Dan to Rex’s chambers after finishing the training of soldiers. He would ask Dan about her recovery.

The old doctor could see how much the prince cared about Evelyn. However, there seemed to be an invisible wall between the two. As a servant, he couldn’t speak much.

But he would try to report everything to the prince.

He would even tell the prince what kind of new games Evelyn had learned to play from her three friends.

Regan would not say anything but would listen to Dan silently.

No matter how much his heart urged him to go and see Evelyn, he didn’t do so. He kept himself busy in one work or another.

However, it was the next day when Elias came to see Evelyn and passed her a small pouch that Evelyn could no longer stop herself from going to meet the prince.

"What is this?"

Evelyn looked at the pouch in her hands and asked Elias.

Elias rolled his eyes at the question and said

"What can it be? A month is completed. It is salary. I also got mine and brought yours for you."

Evelyn looked at the pouch in her hands again and felt the coins inside it. It was true that she really liked money knowing it could buy a lot of things she never got to have in her life.

That’s why she felt very happy to have money. She wanted to gather a lot of money and then one day go to the market to buy everything she liked.

However, this time even though she had so much money in her hands, she didn’t feel any happiness.

"Why didn’t His Highness give it to me himself?"

She couldn’t help but ask. However, as soon as she finished, she seemed to realize that she had crossed her line.

Even Elias was frowning at the question and said

"His Highness is busy, Evelyn. How can he be so free to give everyone his salary to them personally!"

Evelyn nodded her head realizing her mistake but her heart seemed to be bent on finding faults as she asked again

"Why is this more than before? Last month, I received less."

This time, Elias couldn’t help but laugh. Not only he but Hannah, Ami, and Miri who were standing beside the bed silently till now giggled.

"Evelyn, you are perhaps the only person I have seen complaining about receiving more salary...tsk."

Ami said and her words made everyone giggle again. However, Evelyn didn’t seem to find anything funny in it.

Elias finished laughing and said

"It could be that His Highness rewarded you because you saved his life."

However, Evelyn who was silently frowning climbed down from the bed immediately.

"Evelyn...what are you doing?"

Hannah, Miri, and Ami immediately walked toward her as they saw her ready to go somewhere.

"I will go and meet His Highness."

Evelyn said as she started to walk towards the doors. However, the four people in the room followed her in an attempt to stop her.

"Evelyn, His Highness is training the men in the grounds. You can wait till he gets free."

Elias said as he blocked her way. However, Evelyn didn’t hear anything. She just focused on the information.

So she could find him in the grounds. Good.

Thinking this, she walked past Elias.

Hannah, Miri, and Ami glanced at Elias with a look that asked ’are you stupid’. Elias however didn’t seem to realize what wrong he had done.

The three girls didn’t pay him any more attention and hurriedly picked a shawl for Evelyn before they left the chambers to follow Evelyn.

There were indeed cold winds blowing on the ground. Evelyn could feel it as soon as she stepped out of the corridor. However, she didn’t seem to care.

She was feeling as if she would crazy if she didn’t see him soon.

When her eyes fell on the man she had been wishing to see for so long, her heart stopped for a moment.

As if he could feel her eyes on himself, Regan turned his head to look at her.

And when Evelyn saw his red eyes, she couldn’t help but feel inhale sharply just like how she had done when she had seen him for the first time.
