Chapter 74: Regan Meets Derrick

Chapter 74: Regan Meets Derrick

As he stood in front of the Royal chambers, Regan looked at the entrance with cold eyes. He was not particularly staring at the entrance but lost in his own thoughts.

The memory of how he had left these same chambers years ago in anger was still afresh in his mind.

That day, he had promised himself that he would never step inside here....because the owner of these chambers was not respected by him. It was from that day that he believed that his father was dead.

Derrick was not his father, he was just a king.

Yet here he was today, standing at the same place he had vowed not to ever step inside.

"Your Highness, you can go inside."

The royal soldier came and informed him. Regan silently stepped inside the chambers.

Though he didn’t wish to, his eyes unconsciously went in a particular direction as he walked inside and he saw the familiar painting on the wall.

It was of his mother. Queen Regina who was also the princess and the sole ruler of the City of Mazic.

He couldn’t help but pause for a moment when he saw another painting just beside that painting.

There was nothing in Regan’s eyes and he silently looked away as he continued walking further inside.

Inside his chambers, Derrick was nervously tapping his feet while looking at the front continuously. He had been unable to believe the royal soldier when the latter told him that Regan was here to see him. However, in no time, he asked the soldier to allow him inside.

There was no need for his permission. As long as his son wanted, he could come any time to meet him.

When he finally saw a figure walking towards him, Derrick couldn’t help but stiffen.

His throat seemed to be clogged when he saw his son’s face again which was covered by the silver mask.

He had grown so tall and so strong. Seeing his red eyes which were exactly the same as that of his mother, Derrick’s lips couldn’t help but curl up slightly.

Before his whole attention was on how he could make Regan stay so he didn’t get the chance to look at him attentively.

But now, when he looked at him, he couldn’t help but feel slightly emotional as a father. This feeling could only be originated inside Derrick’s heart by Regan, his most precious son yet the son who despised him to the core.

Derrick blinked when he felt his eyes getting moistened.

"Your Majesty"

Regan stopped a few steps away and bowed his head respectfully though his eyes were still cold.

Derrick cleared his throat before he opened his mouth and said

"Come, Regan, sit. I will order them to bring something for you to eat. You seem famished."

When Derrick said this, his eyes were filled with concern. Regan’s red eyes were redder which seemed to be a little abnormal. It seemed that he didn’t sleep for a long time. He could only see half of his lips but they were completely dry as if he didn’t have water for a long time.

However, Regan didn’t seem to like his father’s offer and said coldly

"There is no need for that, Your Majesty."

Derrick frowned and opened his mouth to say something

"Regan...

However, before he could finish, Regan interrupted him and said

"I am here for a very important thing."

Only Regan dared to interrupt Derrick like this and the latter didn’t seem to mind. He was joyous at the thought that his son wanted to talk to him and was afraid that his son would leave again if he annoyed him much.

Thinking this, he shut his mouth and soon heard Regan say

"More than five days ago, I received a letter from the Royal Palace. It said that there was something wrong on the border and it required my and Rex’s presence. However, when I and Rex went there, everything was fine."

As he said these words, Regan was looking at Derrick attentively as if he was trying to find out if he was also involved in all this.

However, on hearing his words, a deep frown marred Derrick’s forehead and he said immediately

"I never sent such a letter neither did I receive any such news."

"The letter had your stamp."

Regan said coldly and the words made Derrick’s eyes cold. He stood up and walked to the bedside table and opened a drawer.

From there, he took out a box and frowned when he saw that his stamp was still there.

So how did someone stamp any letter on his name?

Derrick was slightly confused but raised his head to look at his son and assured him.

"Don’t worry Regan. I will let someone investigate this matter."

Regan didn’t have any reaction to these words and said coldly

"I don’t care about that. What I am here to ask you is why was Evelyn brought here?"

On hearing the question, Derrick was again confused as he asked

"Who is Evelyn?"

Regan couldn’t help but look at him for a moment coldly before he answered

"The girl you soldiers brought here from my castle."

Derrick’s eyes flashed with realization and he whispered

"That slave....You are talking about her."

However, the unconcerned expression on Derrick’s face made Regan’s eyes go colder.

It was only because he wanted justice for Evelyn that he was standing here otherwise he didn’t even want to see the face of this man.

On the other hand, Derrick’s face had a somber expression suddenly as he asked Regan.

"Is she from Zamorin?"

Regan didn’t answer his question but his fists were clenched tightly as he wondered just how did Derrick know this.

However, even if he didn’t answer, Derrick had already received his answer.

His face went more serious as he said

"Regan, you can’t keep her. We doubt that it was she who was behind the attack in your castle. Leave her here."

Regan ignored whatever he heard and asked only one question.

"How do you know that she is from Zamorin?"
