Chapter 65: The Cute Evelyn

Derrick had planned everything very well. He knew that with the capabilities Regan had showed till now, no minister would be able to stand against him when he would announce that he wanted Regan to succeed him.

While Richard and Rafael didn’t have anything to prove their abilities.

However, Regan didn’t look moved by Rex’s words. Because he never wanted the throne.

He only wanted Mazic, his mother’s city and nothing else.

But when Rex said

"Mother will not want this, Regan. If she was here, she would want you to ascend the throne so that you could correct all the mistakes that her so-called husband and King of Alfaros has been unable to correct."

It was these words that made Regan unable to say ’no’ anymore.

In the end, Rex was successful in making Regan agree for going to the border.

Since the castle have been invaded, Rex and Regan knew that they could not leave the city and castle just like this.

The soldiers they had summoned were yet to arrive and because of the situation on the border, it might now take more time for them to come to Mazic.

Knowing this, they decided to place the men they were training on the Mazic’s border and a few of them inside the castle.

The men were not yet trained completely but Rex and Regan knew that they didn’t have any choice.

Henry, as the head of the guards took the responsibility to train these men a little bit everyday.

Only such an arrangement could be made for now.

When Evelyn came to know of this, she didn’t know if she should feel relieved or worried.

She should be relieved as the prince would not be longer around. These few days of his absence should be able to make her calm. They should be enough for her to calm down and this stupid things going on with her might go away.

However, she also felt worried when she thought about him going there and fighting with enemies.

She came out of her thoughts when she saw the prince walking inside the chambers.

However, he was not alone.

Two guards and two maids followed him. This made Evelyn frown in confusion.

"Evelyn, I am leaving in a few minutes."

Since Evelyn knew this, she didn’t have any special reaction but this disappointed Regan. He consoled himself that she still didn’t have any feelings for him so it was natural and put aside his disappointment as he started to introduce the two maids to him.

"These two will take care of you."

The maids smiled at Evelyn and Evelyn smiled back forcefully. She wanted to say that she didn’t need any maids but she knew that the prince wouldn’t listen to her.

Her eyes then went to the guards and she was shocked to hear the prince say

"These two will guard you."

"Guard me?"

Evelyn’s eyes went wide as she blinked. She didn’t need to be guarded by anyone. However, Regan merely nodded his head in agreement and then with his one glance, the guard walked outside the chambers to guard Evelyn.

Even though there were already two guards guarding the chambers, these two guards were specifically for Evelyn.

The fact made Evelyn uncomfortable and she said

"Your Highness, isn’t it bit too much. I don’t need them. In fact, I..."

However, Regan looked at her with narrowed eyes and said coldly

"You don’t need them? Do you really think so? After every few days, you are getting injured by someone. You need them. In their presence, no one will be able to bully you."

It was still like this when he was around. He was worried that when he would be not around, she would be bullied more by others.

Evelyn opened her mouth but she didn’t have anything to say. After all, she knew that what the prince said was true.

First, she was injured because the head maid in the Royal palace beat her, and now she was injured because she got involved in the fight.

In the end, Evelyn could only shut up and accept the guards silently.

"Tell Martha if you need anything else."

Regan said softly when he saw her lowered her head.

She nodded her head softly and he smiled a little seeing her so obedient. He actually wanted to hug her before leaving but he knew that with their situation, it was not possible for now.

So he cleared his throat and said

"Then I will be leaving."

Evelyn raised her head and looked at him for a moment before she nodded. She didn’t know why but she felt especially unwilling to be left behind.

If she would have been alright then she could have accompanied the prince to the border.

She felt upset but still nodded her head and said softly

"Take care, Your Highness."

Regan’s red eyes brightened slightly as he nodded his head. Before leaving, he said strictly

"Take care of your wound. By the time I return, it should be healed completely. Do you understand?"

Evelyn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when she heard these words. How could she promise such a thing!

And she didn’t even know how long will he take. The thought made her more upset as she wondered whether the prince would have to stay on the border for a long time.

Seeing that she was not responding, Regan frowned and changed his words slightly which he knew would surely make her respond.

"Don’t give Dan any chance to earn more than his salary."

And sure enough, this time she nodded her head firmly.

"Yes, Your Highness."

This girl! Regan’s lips twitched as he looked at her. At such moments, she looks so cute even though her love for money can be seen very clearly.

In the end, it was time to leave and Regan finally turned around to leave.

Never in his life, had he felt so unwilling to leave a place.

But today as he left, he felt as if a part of him stayed behind with Evelyn.
