The Masked prince -
Chapter 283: Alexandria Meets Rex
Chapter 283: Alexandria Meets Rex
In Regan’s absence, Evelyn tried to find out the ways to placate her prince.
However, she couldn’t find any solution to her problem. When Evelyn thought about how she would have to face the prince’s silence again today, she wanted to cry again but had no tears.
What should she do? No one was ready to help her.
She had tried to ask Rex before the latter left this morning.
But he refused to help her.
’You should know what will make him happy by now.’
Rex said only these words before he left the Palace with an ambiguous smile on his lips.
Isla as well as the other two knights couldn’t see her lady’s grievous expression and hence one of them suggested
"My Lady, I have heard that there are book regarding how wives can cajole their husbands. Maybe those books can help."
Evelyn looked at Elliot who had suggested this with wide eyes filled with surprise.
"There are such books as well?"
Elliot nodded his head vigorously and Isla and Ezra also supported him.
"I also seemed to have heard about such books, My Lady."
Isla and Ezra didn’t really know but seeing Evelyn’s eyes filled with hope they supported Elliot.
Evelyn immediately stood up and asked
"Can we find them in the library?"
The palace had a library which had many books but hearing her question, the three knights didn’t look too sure and said
"I don’t think so. The library has been set according to the two princes preferences. It only contains war memorials and adventure novels as far as I know but ...we might find them in the market."
"Then we will go the market ...right now."
Evelyn said with determination filled eyes.
Hence, around half an hour later, a carriage left the palace.
.
.
.
Rex had stepped outside the room after trying out the robes made by the tailor.
The coronation ceremony was to take place a week later and he had to wear suitable clothes for the ceremony ...the kind of clothes which were usually worn by the King only.
The King wore red cape while the princes wore blue cape.
At this moment, he had just stepped out after trying out the clothes.
He was yet to wear his outer robe which had his blue cape. Unfortunately, his robe had been stained by ink due to a servant’s mistake.
Rex sighed remembering how the servant was scared out of his wits. From the black band on his wrist, he seemed to be a slave.
After having Evelyn as a part of their family, he had a soft corner of the slaves. So he dismissed the servant without any punishment and merely asked him to clean his robe for him.
Hence, he couldn’t wear his outer robe for now.
Lost in his thoughts, he didn’t see the figure walking towards him who was also lost in her mutterings and hence the two figures collided with each other.
Rex immediately grabbed the figure in his arms seeing that the person was about to fall on the ground.
He heard a squeal from the person and looked down at the soft figure only to have his breath hitched when he had one glance at the beautiful face.
He had seen many beauties in his life and had never felt like that.
But the beauty in his arm was different.
He even adored the scowl on her forehead when she looked at him.
It was only when she pushed him away and stepped back that he came out of her trance.
"Ha! Have some manners and shame. Don’t you have a sister or mother?"
Rex frowned in confusion on hearing the question but shook his head.
He indeed didn’t have any mother or sister.
But he did have a sister-in-law who was Evelyn.
He was forced to come out of his thoughts again when he heard the lady
"You ...I know very well the men like you. As soon as you guys see a beauty, your mind goes haywire! The collision was purposeful, wasn’t it?"
Rex was baffled at the accusation.
"It was not."
He said firmly but the lady didn’t seem ready to even listen to him and continued to speak
"Ha! As If I will believe you. Who are you? Tell me, I will complain about you to His Majesty. His Majesty knows me very well."
The words amused Rex as well as the lady in front of him who claimed to know his father.
He was about to introduce himself to her when both of them suddenly heard a voice.
"Alexandria, where are you? Did you run away again?"
Alexandria bit her lips when she heard the voice.
"Today is your lucky day."
Alexandria glared at Rex before she ran away from there.
Rex smiled as he looked at her back.
"Alexandria...such a fireball..."
He whispered the name to himself.
"Your Highness"
Rex composed himself seeing the servant who was looking at him weirdly.
"Yes?"
"His Majesty wishes to see you."
"I will be there soon."
Rex said and the servant left after bowing his head.
Rex smiled again remembering the fireball again as he started to walk to his chambers...never knowing the surprise that was waiting for him.
.
.
.
"What is My Lady’s order for this servant?"
The shopkeeper smiled as he asked Evelyn.
He had already arranged snacks and a comfortable sitting for Evelyn as soon as he realized that she was the princess consort of Prince Regan.
Evelyn smiled at the shopkeeper and said softly
"Do you have books that can help wives please their husbands?"
The shopkeeper face went blank for a moment before he smiled ambiguously.
"Yes, yes. My shop have many of those books."
Evelyn looked relieved when she heard this and said brightly.
"Give me one...no two...or perhaps three."
In the end, Evelyn had five books in her hands when she stepped out of the shop with Isla and Elliot.
Elliot offered to hold them for her but she didn’t agree.
They were too precious for her for they carried the knowledge using which she could cajole her prince.
If only she knew...
