Chapter 232: Raphael’s Anger

Evelyn’s eyes went wide when she heard this.

She hurriedly stepped out of the secret room.

She used her hands so fast that she didn’t think she did before this.

"Your Majesty should go and lie down on the bed hurriedly."

Evelyn said when she heard the footsteps across the gallery. At the same time, she was hanging the painting on the wall.

When Evelyn saw the guard, her hands were trembling fiercely but she maintained a calm expression on her face.

The maid who was standing behind the guard looked shocked when she saw Evelyn and said furiously

"You were clearly not here when I came a few moments ago. I checked everywhere but you were not..."

The guard’s eyes on Evelyn were full of suspicion when he heard the maid.

Evelyn swallowed in nervousness but smiled tightly as she said

"I was in the bathroom. Did you check the bathroom?"

Evelyn really hoped that the maid didn’t and she was fortunate when the maid frowned but didn’t have anything to say. Hearing her silence, the guard looked at her and asked

"Why are you not speaking? Did you check the bathroom?"

The maid raised her head and shook her head quite hesitantly.

"It seems that I forgot to check the bathroom.1"

The guard frowned as he said coldly

"Use your brain before barging out and creating such a fuss!"

The maid who was scolded lowered her head but couldn’t say anything. In the end, the guard left the chambers.

However, as soon as he left, the maid glared at Evelyn harshly.

Evelyn understood that the maid was just venting out her anger so she ignored her and asked

"What did you come here for?"

The maid was still feeling wronged and replied angrily

"The physician won’t be able to come so I came to feed His Majesty the medicinal paste."

Evelyn went stiff when she heard that.

If the maid get closer to Derrick and noticed that his complexion was very better and not like a sick person then it could cause trouble so she smiled and said calmly

"I can feed His Majesty the medicinal paste. You don’t need to worry."

The maid also didn’t look willing to stay anymore and said arrogantly.

"You better do so. If something happened to His Majesty then I will give your name to His Highness."

Evelyn nodded her head calmly and sighed in relief when she saw the maid leaving the chambers.

She hurriedly walked to the bed and parted the curtains slightly and saw Derrick looking at her with worry filed eyes.

"Are you alright, girl?"

Derrick asked her almost immediately when he saw her.

Though he heard everything, he was still concerned.

Evelyn was surprised by the question but then smiled as she said

"I am alright, Your Majesty. Should I bring the lunch now?"

Derrick nodded his head but then said

"Wait for some time. If no one comes...only then go there."

Evelyn nodded her head in understanding.

She waited for some time. When no one really came, she went to the secret room and put the plates filled with dishes on the table. Evelyn wanted to leave the secret room open for some time as it was filled with smoke because she had been using firewood to cook the food.

She left it open for some time.

The smoke inside the chambers left from the window slowly and slowly.

She sighed in relief when she didn’t attract anyone’s attention.

They had their lunch hurriedly

When Evelyn stepped out of the secret room after washing the utensils, Derrick spoke again.

"You should leave the tunnel."

"I will leave if Your Majesty will agree to leave with me."

Evelyn reiterated the words from the morning and Derrick glared at her again.

How could he make this girl understand?

He was the king. How could he run away?

However, Evelyn seemed adamant.

Evelyn and Derrick didn’t speak to each other again after that.

It was evening when Evelyn heard the sound of footsteps again. She frowned as it was not dinner time so the guard should not be here again.

Evelyn was seated on the couch and waited for the person to appear and her body stilled when she saw who it was.

It was none other than Raphael.

He looked at her once and smirked perhaps noticing the fear in her eyes. Then Evelyn noticed that he was looking towards the bed.

Evelyn’s breath hitched when she saw Raphael walking towards the bed.

She needed to do something. Just when Raphael was about to part the curtains, she said in a fear-filled voice.

"His Majesty needs a good doctor. His health is worsening day by day. The physician who comes and prepares medicines...he doesn’t seem to be that good. Otherwise, His Majesty’s health would have improved."

Evelyn pretended as if she didn’t know anything.

She actually wanted to involve Raphael in conversation so that he would forget about seeing Derrick.

Sure enough, Raphael turned around and looked at her with a smirk as he said

"Don’t worry, he won’t die."

Evelyn knew what he meant to say.

The constant poison and the medicine to treat it were to make Derrick’s body weak. It would not kill him immediately but it would make his body weaker day by day and she could already see the damage it had done.

Her eyes flashed with genuine rage and she forgot that she was supposed to act as if she was afraid of Raphael as she said

"How can you do this to your own father! How can you be such a b****d!"

Evelyn herself was surprised that she cursed. She didn’t know if it was Regan’s effect or if Raphael was truly that infuriating.

She concluded the latter when Raphael strode towards her after hearing her words and slapped her loudly.

Evelyn fell down to the floor because of the heavy impact of the slap and the corner of her lips started bleeding.

She breathed heavily and looked towards the vase where she had hidden the dagger wondering if she should use it now.

However, she knew better than to act on impulse.

So she could only close her eyes and bear silently when Raphael kicked her in the stomach.
