The Masked prince -
Chapter 223: Locked(2)
Chapter 223: Locked(2)
Evelyn swallowed in fear as she crawled away from Raphael as far as she could. Raphael snickered seeing her afraid.
However, he didn’t know that Evelyn was pretending. She realized that Raphael liked to see her fear. As long as she acted as if she was afraid of him, he would not harm her... at least she hoped that.
Otherwise, she so wished that she had her sword with him. Even though she was not that well-groomed to kill anyone in front of her, she could at least have a weapon to protect herself.
Raphael tsked and whispered
"Don’t worry, I won’t f**k you ...at least not yet."
Evelyn’s eyes flashed with disgust. She didn’t wish to let Raphael see the expression on her face so she kept her head lowered.
"I still need you intact to use you."
Evelyn’s eyes flashed when she heard Raphael.
To use her against...Regan? So that’s why Raphael has kept her locked here. It only meant that she needed to run away from here.
By keeping her hostage here, Raphael must have wanted to defeat the prince when he would come to protect her.
Evelyn knew that she can’t let this happen.
She couldn’t become Regan’s strength so she didn’t deserve to be his weakness as well.
Raphael again stood there for some time before he left the chambers again. However, not before saying to Evelyn
"You are not allowed to talk to anyone who comes inside this chamber. Do you understand?"
Evelyn nodded her head blankly wondering if some servants would come inside. Then why was Raphael afraid? Were they not his people only?
Perhaps Raphael could see that her nod was not sincere so he said coldly
"Your knight is still in my possession. My men have surrounded your palace as well. If you don’t wish for your people to be harmed then it would be better for you to obey me."
Evelyn nodded her head vigorously this time.
Almost half an hour since Raphael left, a middle-aged man stepped inside the chambers.
Evelyn realized that he was a physician. When the man greeted her, she nodded her head stiffly.
Then she immediately followed him to the bed.
The middle-aged man checked Derrick’s pulse and then made some paste from the herbs placed on the table. Evelyn watched him silently until he had fed the medicinal paste to Derrick.
Her eyes went around the chambers.
There was no one inside the chambers so Raphael wouldn’t even get to know if she talked to him.
Evelyn gathered her courage and asked the physician in almost a whisper
"What is wrong with His Majesty."
The physician looked at her with a pale face and his eyes were filled with fear. But he didn’t answer her question. Evelyn looked at him with a frown before she realized something.
The physician would never answer her question because Raphael has threatened him as well.
Here she was thinking that perhaps Raphael didn’t let outside people know that Derrick was so sick but it didn’t seem so.
Raphael seemed to be very well prepared for every situation.
.
.
.
After the physician left, no one really came to the chambers. It was only the Royal Guard who came with lunch and dinner which was only a watery porridge.
Evelyn didn’t mind it.
She had eaten worse when she was a slave.
So she ate it silently.
Realizing that the second bowl was for Derrick, she hesitated before she walked to the bed to feed him.
She remembered that Derrick despised her for being a slave. A King like her would despise that she, a slave even though in past, came near him.
But she had already wiped his body. Since she had already crossed the line, feeding him should not be a big matter.
Fortunately, Derrick swallowed the porridge when she fed him. It made Evelyn wonder if he was still conscious to some extent.
"Your Majesty, His Highness needs you. Please wake up soon."
She really hoped that Derrick could hear her and he would strengthen himself to recover soon.
Apart from the Royal Guard, no one really came to the chambers. When the night came, Evelyn slept on the ground.
Apart from the bed and the majestic chair, there was a couch inside the room but Evelyn didn’t know if Derrick would mind that she slept on the couch of his chambers.
After all, he despised her because she had been a slave. And she didn’t actually mind sleeping on the floor...even the floor was covered with a carpet so it was not a problem at all.
However, her sleep was not peaceful at all. After what happened during the day, Evelyn was afraid that Raphael would suddenly come inside and try to do something. Hence, whenever there was even a slight sound, she would start to look towards the door with wariness-filled eyes.
Evelyn woke up early.
She thought something and started to look around the chambers for something sharp. Perhaps she could find something which she could use as her weapon.
After looking for so long here and there, Evelyn found nothing. Raphael have ensured that there was nothing inside the chambers which could be used.
Her eyes then suddenly went towards the bed where Derrick was lying.
Evelyn remembered Regan telling her that every trained man hid a weapon inside their clothes. It was when he was teaching her how to hide a weapon in her clothes.
Derrick’s clothes seemed to be the same for many days.
She was sure that no one has changed them as they still had someone’s blood which seemed to be completely dry.
Hope flickered in Evelyn’s eyes and she moved towards the bed.
King must be a trained soldier as well. Then could it be that...
"I apologize, Your Majesty."
Evelyn whispered sincerely before she searched Derrick’s clothes all over. Her eyes widen slightly when she felt something under her hands.
It was in his robe.
She removed it slightly and her eyes lit up when they fell on a silver-colored thing.
She found a dagger!
