Chapter 169: The Frustrated Regan

Regan remembered very well that till yesterday night and even today’s morning, there was a very comfortable couch inside his room.

However, at this moment, no trace of that couch could be seen.

"Where is the couch?"

He frowned deeply as he asked no one in particular.

Evelyn didn’t know what she was supposed to say but a moment later, she said

"They might have moved it out."

Now, a new closet was also added inside the room, especially for Evelyn’s clothes and hence Evelyn thought it was because of her that the couch was moved out.

But Regan didn’t agree with her. There was still enough space inside the room because the room was very huge.

He turned to look at Evelyn whose forehead was covered with sweat and sighed as he said

"I will go and sleep in the living room. You sleep here. Tomorrow, I will ask Elias to move the couch inside the room then there won’t be any problem in the future."

Saying this, Regan was about to leave but Evelyn stopped him.

"No!"

She said instantly.

How could she let the prince sleep inside the living room! This room belonged to him in the first place. If the prince slept inside the living room while she slept here comfortably on the bed, Evelyn was sure that she wouldn’t get any sleep.

She was also aware that the prince wouldn’t let her sleep inside the living room.

Hence, she looked towards the bed and gulped nervously before she said

"Your Highness...the bed is large. Maybe we can adjust."

Regan stared at Evelyn’s lowered head with somewhat shock-filled eyes. He was not believing that Evelyn said something like this.

A moment later, he understood that she was worried about him sleeping inside the living room and that was why she was making such a suggestion.

A part of him wanted to assure her that he didn’t have any problem with sleeping inside the living room. After all, he had slept on the cold ground as well many times when he was staying on the battlefield.

But another part of him very conveniently shut down that part and he asked Evelyn calmly

"Are you sure?"

Evelyn nodded her head immediately regardless of how unsure she was.

And hence, a few moments later, both of them were lying on the bed.

There was a very clear distance between them. Still, the fact that there was another person by their side kept them awake.

Evelyn didn’t even dare to breathe loudly and her body was completely stiff.

She was afraid that if she moved, she will disturb the prince’s sleep. Perhaps Regan felt her stiffness and hence he said gently

"Relax, Evelyn."

The voice had magic on Evelyn because she suddenly found her body relaxing suddenly.

Regan continued a moment later.

"I won’t even do anything that will be against your will."

Regan’s voice was firm when he said these words but what he said touched Evelyn’s heart. She blinked the moisture gathering in her eyes and hummed in a choked voice. She was afraid that if she spoke then she would mess up.

Sleep was easy to come after this small interaction.

It was not that Evelyn didn’t trust Regan. But Regan’s words allowed her to relax. It made her feel that she could do anything she wished to do.

Since her body relaxed, the tiredness of the day overcome her body and she soon fell into a deep slumber. Regan, however, was wide awake.

He sighed when he heard the sound of Evelyn’s even breathing knowing that she was wide asleep. However, he was sure that he wouldn’t be able to sleep very soon.

His hands were literally itching to drag her body and hug her in his arms tightly. However, he also remembered his promise to her.

He didn’t wish to scare her.

Regan closed his eyes and tried to think of something else. Almost an hour later, he finally found some sleep.

The next morning, inside the room the scene was completely different from last night. Evelyn frowned feeling the sun rays falling on her face and opened her eyes slowly. However, her eyes widened when she felt something hard under her hand.

She almost screamed when she realized that while sleeping, she had come to the prince’s side and she was now clinging to him.

She felt like crying but didn’t have any tears. When did she start to move so much in her sleep?

Slowly, Evelyn tried to move her arms away from Regan’s chest. She wanted to be careful because she didn’t wish to disturb his sleep.

However, she had just moved her hand slightly when Regan’s hand suddenly came to her waist and with one swift move, she was lying under him on the bed while Regan’s one hand held a dagger very close to her eyes.

Regan opened his eyes slowly and when he looked at Evelyn, they were deathly cold. On the other hand, Evelyn’s lips were parted in shock and her eyes were filled with fear as she stared at the dagger in the prince’s hands.

The next moment, Regan cursed loudly and the coldness in his eyes vanished instantly. He threw the dagger away and moved away from Evelyn’s body as he wiped his face with his hands in frustration.

Evelyn sat on the bed with eyes still wide and filled with shock and fear. Her chest heaved up and down as she breathed heavily.

Apparently, she had never seen a prince like this before. Actually, she saw it once but only from far away and it was when the invaders had invaded the castle.

But today she saw it from so close.

Regan’s eyes were filled with death when he stared at her at that moment.

Evelyn flinched when Regan turned to look at her and Regan grimaced. He had wanted to say something before but then the next moment, he stood up from the bed and walked inside the bathroom with a frustrated expression on his face.
