Chapter 154: Rex To Accompany Regan

It was night.

Regan climbed down from Lavo who just landed on the wide roof of what looked like a small Palace.

After that, he walked down the stairs and then went inside a room on the ground floor.

"Your Highness..."

Evelyn who was seated on the bed stood up as soon as she heard the door being opened. When she saw Regan, she immediately stepped towards him with concern-filled eyes.

"Your Highness, did His Majesty say something?"

Regan frowned when he heard her words and asked immediately

"Who told you that I was called by His Majesty?"

"Elias"

Evelyn answered calmly because she was not aware that her answer would create any problem for Elias. But Regan’s lips were pressed in a thin line.

He needed to have a long talk with Elias.

Elias who was inside another room suddenly sneezed loudly.

On the other hand, Regan looked at Evelyn whose eyes were filled with worry, and immediately comforted her.

"There is nothing wrong. Why are you so worried? Don’t you believe me?"

At these words, Evelyn immediately shook her head and said

"No, it’s not like that. I believe Your Highness."

Regan smiled lightly seeing her so tensed. Could she not sense that he was just teasing her?

Shaking his head, he looked behind her on the bed and his face went grim when he saw the untouched plate filled with food on the bedside table.

"You didn’t have your lunch."

He said rather than asking.

Evelyn’s head got lowered on hearing his question. She felt like a child who would be scolded in front of him.

Regan sighed when he saw her like this.

He actually wanted to take her in his arms and soothe all the worries she had. However, there was this fear inside his heart which scared him. He was scared that he would lose her forever if he was not careful. Especially after knowing her past and how the shadow of Arthur’s actions still lingered inside her heart...he knew that he needed to be careful with Evelyn.

So he could only try his best to comfort in his own ways.

"Evelyn, you can’t miss your meals like this. I want you to stay strong. Before you were a child. I can understand that you were unable to fight so you have to go through so much...but now you are not incapable. With me standing by your side, what fears do you have? As long as you give me your trust, I can assure you that no one would be able to touch even a strand of your hair without my will."

The words made Evelyn’s eyes blank for a moment before she blinked them furiously.

She realized how true the prince was. Before she was a child...an ignorant child who didn’t know anything about this world but now...now she was no longer that ignorant and innocent girl.

For how long she could stay like this...trying to run away from her fears.

"I understand, Your Highness."

She whispered firmly and instantly went to the bed and picked the plate. However, instead of eating it she suddenly raised her head and looked at Regan.

Regan raised his eyebrows in a questioning manner and she asked him

"Did Your Highness had lunch?"

Regan didn’t have lunch actually. He didn’t wish to have it in Royal Palace and it was already night. As soon as he was sure that there were less people around, he came here with Lavo’s help.

No one knew that he had brought Evelyn and she was staying here. And he was not planning to let anyone know as long as he could.

At least until Evelyn didn’t look ready enough to face Arthur. He couldn’t see her like that again...all scared and helpless.

Just when he was about to answer Evelyn, the door of the room suddenly opened and Rex stepped inside.

"Regan, you are back."

Rex walked to Regan immediately while Regan looked at Rex with his lips pressed in a thin line as he said

"Rex, this is a Lady’s room. You should knock before entering."

Evelyn suddenly tried to remember if the prince himself had knocked before entering. But she didn’t say her thoughts out aloud because he had not knocked on the door.

Regan himself knew this but he didn’t find anything wrong with it. However, for him, even if Rex was his brother, he was other man.

Rex smiled sheepishly and looked at Evelyn with apologetic eyes.

"I apologize, Evelyn. I heard Lavo’s growl so I thought that Regan was back. Knowing that he would be here, I came inside without thinking anything.

Evelyn immediately shook her head indicating that she didn’t mind.

Both the princes respected her like a normal human being and she felt safe around both of them.

Most of her attention went to Rex’s words ’Knowing that the prince would be here’.

How did he knew that the prince would be here?

Evelyn didn’t know why but she suddenly felt as if her ears were slightly hot and she scratched them lightly.

Regan didn’t notice anything wrong with her. He looked at her strictly and said

"Have your meal."

After that, he dragged Rex outside the room.

As soon as they were inside, Rex asked him

"What did he say?"

After Elias had informed him that Regan was called by Derrick, Rex had been very worried. He was afraid that Regan would escalate the matter with his anger.

However, since Regan had asked him to stay here and ensure that Evelyn would be safe, he could not go to Royal Palace to find him.

"What can he say?"

Regan continued walking as he said coldly. One of his hands was on his swords and his blue cape was slightly above the ground as he walked beside Rex. .

"I would need to attend Royal Court tomorrow."

Rex’s expression went grim when he heard this and he said instantly

"I will accompany you tomorrow, Regan."

"Rex..."

Regan wanted to refuse but before he could finish, Rex continued speaking

"Leave Elias here to ensure Evelyn’s safety but I will accompany you tomorrow."

Rex couldn’t let Regan be alone when he was in Royal Court because he was afraid that Regan would lose his calm in anger. Derrick might even tolerate Regan’s anger but the ministers in the Royal Court would surely not.

And he didn’t want that. Regan could see that he was determined so he could only give up and agree with what he wanted.

"Then Elias will stay here tomorrow."
