Chapter 146: The Doom(1)

***Warning: Dear readers, this Chapter and the next Chapter would be very depressing. Even I cried when I was writing them. I only cried this much while writing my previous novel His Rui. So if you can’t bear to read such things then please don’t read these two Chapters. I assure you that you would still be able to understand the story.

For those who will read, I will advise you guys to watch or read something humorous afterward. I would never want someone to stay sad because of me but this is part of the plot. Sorry.

Ada

----

Evelyn was in no mood of playing any sort of game. However, she knew that her being upset in the past few days was also making Oliver marry. He had already asked her the reason many times but she had just said that she was missing Gianna and Cooper because she still remembered how Gianna had warned her again and again that she couldn’t make Oliver worry.

Anything that would make Oliver’s disturb and divert his attention from his studies, she was not supposed to do.

So Evelyn didn’t dare to tell Oliver anything.

Knowing that he wouldn’t be able to leave with a peaceful mind if she stayed upset, she agreed to play.

The house had a roof that was neither too small nor too large.

Evelyn had played many times here before with Oliver and Arthur. They played the game they played usually.

With Oliver’s help, she tied a blindfold on her eyes and now she was supposed to catch him with her eyes covered with cloth.

Evelyn was in no mood before but as they played, she found herself gaining interest in the game.

"Evelyn...here."

She heard Oliver calling her again. However, as soon as she stepped in the direction of his voice and waved her hand in the air she found nothing. She couldn’t help but pout but when she heard Oliver’s laughter, she giggled unconsciously.

Oliver smiled widely when he heard her giggle.

Never had he known that it would be the last time he would be seeing Evelyn’s smile and never had Evelyn known that it would be the last time she would be able to laugh so freely.

Because afterward what happened surrounded her heart with dark sorrows which never let their shadows leave her heart.

Evelyn didn’t get to know anything. She didn’t know what happened.

"Evelyn!"

She only heard a shout ...or should be said Oliver’s shout.

Her body stiffened and the next moment she uncovered her eyes. She thought that Oliver might have fallen down to the floor in his attempt of running away from her.

However, when her eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness, she didn’t see Oliver anywhere. Instead, she saw Arthur standing there.

She frowned and looked at Arthur wondering where Oliver was. It was only then she noticed that he was looking down.

When she remembered Oliver’s shout, her heart suddenly sank to the deeper part of her chest.

Her mouth parted slightly as she breathed heavily and at the same time walked towards the edge of the roof.

Her legs were trembling as if she already had a guess of what just happened. A part of her screamed at her to run away and another screamed to save Oliver. She of course choose the latter.

But for that, she had to witness the scene down the roof.

When she reached the low walls of the roof, her eyes instantly went red. Tears blurred them but she could still see Oliver’s figure down on the floor of the house inside the yard.

He fell down from the roof.

"Oliver!"

A scream finally escaped Evelyn’s lips and she hurried down the stairs to reach Oliver. There was nothing else that she could think of. Nothing she could register. She didn’t ponder on what was Arthur doing there.

All she remembered was Oliver.

When she reached the yard, Evelyn’s whole body was trembling. She stopped near Oliver’s body. His eyes were still open and his face was morphed into an expression full of pain.

Evelyn could see that his eyes were full of shock as he stared towards the roof. She knew who was standing there.

Her heart broke into a million pieces when Oliver noticed her and he still tried to smile.

"D...d ..on’t wo...rry."

He was in so much pain that he was having difficulty forming words and yet he was trying to comfort her.

Tears fell down from Evelyn’s like a string.

"O...Oliver..."

She whispered in a trembling voice as she kneeled down beside him. Her hands went towards him but she didn’t dare to touch him.

Her eyes widened when she noticed a large pool of puddles coming from under his head.

"O...liver..."

Evelyn whispered in a fear-filled voice. Then she stood up and said hurriedly.

"I will go and call someone to help."

Her voice was still trembling but Evelyn knew that she had to hold herself together otherwise Oliver might...

She didn’t even dare to think that.

However, just when she was about to step outside the house, a hand clasped her arm and dragged her inside.

Evelyn’s eyes flared with anger when she saw that it was none other than Arthur.

It was he who pushed down Oliver.

"Leave me...."

She shouted. However, Arthur didn’t listen to her. He continued to drag her inside the house. Evelyn shouted again hoping that someone from the neighborhood would hear her and come to help.

However, Arthur could see very clearly what she was thinking. He immediately covered her mouth with one hand and continued to drag her inside the house.

In the end, Evelyn was only eight, and Arthur was sixteen. His physical strength was much more than hers.

She cried, kicked, and struggled but nothing fazed Arthur.

She even bit his hand that was on her mouth but he didn’t leave her at all. Tears continued to flow out of her eyes. Before she was dragged inside from the yard, her eyes fell on Oliver.

She felt nothing but pain because even in such a situation Oliver was looking toward her. She could see that he wanted to help her but his helplessness didn’t let him do so.

Arthur dragged her to the room where she used to lock herself to stay away from him.

He pushed her to the bed and Evelyn’s eyes widened when she realized that he was going to lock her there.

She lunged at him but he pushed her back to the bed easily. In the end, Evelyn realized that she was not his opponent. She could only fall down to the floor and hold his legs.

"Arthur, don’t do this...I will do whatever you will say...I will ...never run away from you. I will talk to you...Help Oliver..."
