Chapter 86: Found you... Eduardo!

A few hours ago, at the Gatti’s mansion...

Maria was in the middle of a heated argument with her father, about changing his mind on her proposed marriage partner. She didn’t want to get married to Marcello.

She didn’t even want to see him at all. The last time they met was at the basketball court. From that day, she never attended school again. She moved to another country and avoided Marcello like a plague.

Marcello also didn’t care a bit about her. He didn’t ask about her from her father or tried to reach out.

"Maria, my darling daughter, you have to do this for Papa"

"No way! I’m not doing this for you, Father. How can you let me, your only daughter, get married to that... That gay boy" she asked, screaming in frustration. After pacing about the living room, she finally sat down, burying her face in her hands.

Her father sat close to her, gently rubbing his hand on his daughter’s back.

"Come on now, Maria. Even if he’s gay, he’ll never be able to get married to his lover. Since you two grew up together, I’m sure you won’t end up like the others" he said.

Maria tilted her head, staring at her father. She had a nervous look on her face already.

"What happened to the others?"

"Erm..."

"Father!" She called but he remained quiet. She exhaled deeply and stared at the floor. The thought of meeting Marcello again after so many years made her really uncomfortable.

"Fine", she said, and a smile blossomed on his face. "I’ll meet with him"

"That’s good, my dear. You should hurry now and get ready. Remember, don’t do anything that’ll make him angry. That boy is a devil, no one can control him"

"I know that father," she said and stood up from the chair.

"I’ll go get dressed and go see my so-called fiance", she grumbled and headed upstairs with her hands inside her pockets. Mr Gatti heaved a breath of relief as he watched his daughter leave.

"This is a good sign. I hope everything ends well" he muttered, clenching his fist.

Meanwhile, at the restaurant...

Marcello and Eduardo had already arrived. It was huge, silent and also stylish. Eduardo glanced at the building, wondering who picked this location. It was close to the street and very attractive.

"My father booked the whole building so we can have our privacy, yet he chose somewhere that’s close to the main street, just so rumours can spread about that crybaby and me" Marcello gritted his teeth. Eduardo placed a hand on his shoulder.

"There’s no need to get worked up since you’re here already" Eduardo shook his head. Marcello clicked his tongue in annoyance and stepped into the building. He was welcomed by the manager and a group of waiters who were dressed professionally.

"Welcome, Prince Diabolo, to our restaurant. Please, come in" the manager said, with a slight bow.

"..."

Marcello didn’t say anything. He just followed the manager behind as the waiters and Eduardo trailed behind him. They headed to the VIP room, which was on the second floor. The room was lavished, beautiful and stylish. It had just two chairs and a table that was decorated with flowers. The chandelier’s glow gave the room an intimate, almost romantic ambience.

"There are two chairs, I’m afraid; your guard would have to wait outside", the manager noted. Marcello heard that and was already aware of who made such arrangements. It could only be his father. He would desperately do anything to separate him from Eduardo.

"It’s fine. I won’t bother them anyway" Eduardo assured the manager. The manager nodded his head, forcing out a polite smile.

"Miss Gatti will join you soon. Please, if you need anything, use the bell" the manager said and turned to leave with the waiters.

"Wait!" Marcello said. They all froze and slowly turned back to look at Marcello. Their hearts were beating rapidly in their chests.

"It seems like this restaurant doesn’t live up to its name. It has elegance and beauty, but the customer service? Terrible" Marcello said. The manager rubbed his palms together as sweat buds began to form at the corner of his head.

Marcello took out a box of cigarettes, lit it and started to smoke. The waiters still remained there, trembling in fear.

"Eddy, kindly get rid of the pest hiding here," he said. Eduardo lowered his head and inhaled sharply before walking towards one of the male waiters.

He looked more nervous than the others.

"It’s you, huh?" Eduardo asked.

"I... I don’t know what you mean, sir" the waiter stammered, his legs wobbling

Eduardo stretched his hand and grabbed one of his buttons, ripping it from his vest.

He immediately fell on his knees, trembling.

"I’m sorry. I swear, I didn’t mean to spy on you" he said.

Marcello walked closer and took the button from Eduardo. He stared at the camera in the button and pulled it closer to his face.

"I know who sent you. How much were you paid? Or were you compensated with something else?"

"I apologise. It’s my mistake to pick someone who isn’t competent" The manager bowed.

Marcello flicked ash from his cigarette.

"Just get him out of here. If this repeats itself, I’ll burn down this restaurant"

They walked out, still scared of Marcello. He looked at the camera one more time before walking to his seat.

"I can’t believe my father would go far to watch me using these stupid methods. How desperate is he?" He asked. Eduardo didn’t know what to say. He just stood close to Marcello, not caring about the hidden button camera. He just couldn’t wait for his fiancee to arrive so he could excuse himself.

He watched as Marcello threw the button into the jug of water.

"I’m going to visit that old man and give him a piece of my mind," he said.

"What if it’s someone else and not your father?" Eduardo asked.

"Quit assuming things, Eddy. That old man is the only one capable of doing this" he said.

From where he sat on the second floor, he saw a car driving into the compound.

"She’s here..." He said.

Eduardo was relieved. He could finally excuse himself.

....

While they were at the restaurant, someone without red hair at the building across the street. He grinned watching the short footage that was captured by the button camera.

"I’ve found you... Eduardo"
