Two weeks had passed since Eduardo ended up in the hospital. He finally returned home after spending a long time in the hospital.

The guards were surprised to see him back in the manor. They had assumed he wouldn’t return since Marcello’s father warned him to stay away from Marcello.

That morning, Eduardo walked out of his room making his way to Marcello’s office. He bumped into Mario, who was standing by his door.

"Eddy!" He yelled in excitement. He struggled to hold himself back from jumping on him and hugging him. He wasn’t allowed to visit him at the hospital.

No one was allowed to.

Marcello had purposely let Eduardo remain in the hospital while he dealt with a few things so as not to put Eduardo in harm’s way.

"Hey, Mario. Why are you standing here?" He asked.

"He refused to open the door"

"Why?" Eduardo asked.

"He... He has another fiancee" Mario replied. Eduardo folded his hand and nodded his head.

"Isn’t that a good thing? He has two weeks left for him to get married" Eduardo raised an eyebrow.

Mario averted his gaze and scratched the corner of his head.

"Well... she’s his childhood friend. They have a weird history together"

Eduardo never knew Marcello had a friend apart from him when he was Carlo. He met Marcello after college, he doesn’t know much about his childhood either.

Without uttering another word, Eduardo banged on the door.

"Hey, young master. Open the door" he said.

"I’ve been here for over an hour, yet he didn’t open the..."

The door creaked open, and Marcello, who was looking like a mess, stepped out. He saw Eduardo and pulled him inside. Mario pressed his lips into a thin line and turned around.

’Of course, he would open the door if it’s Eduardo. Should I just quit?’

.

The moment they entered, Marcello leaned his head on Eduardo’s shoulder. He has been acting childish since Eduardo returned to the manor.

Eduardo scanned the office. The room was littered with empty bottles and cigarette butts, and some papers were scattered across the floor.

"Do you think locking yourself in here will stop you from getting married?" Eduardo asked him.

Marcello remained silent. He didn’t know what to say. Instead of answering, He grabbed Eduardo by the collar, pulling their faces closer.

"Why does it seem like I’m the only one bothered by this? You don’t feel sad that I’m getting married. Aren’t you supposed to be obsessed with me? Shouldn’t you stop me from getting married?" He asked as he rubbed his lips against Eduardo’s neck.

Eduardo rolled his eyes and looked away from him. Marcello was being clingy, almost like a child.

"It’s not like I’m going anywhere. I’m your slave, right?"

"You’re right. Even if I get married, you won’t be able to leave me. Since you’re my slave, you’ll escort me to meet her, right?"

"Meet who?" He asked.

Marcello stepped back and slipped his fingers into his hair.

"Meet my fiancée. That old man already arranged a meeting for both of us at a whatever restaurant" he said, folding his hands as he leaned on the desk. Eduardo walked through the documents that were on the floor and sat on the couch.

"I’ll go with you. As long as you don’t ruin your chance of getting married," he said.

"Good!" Marcello clapped his hand. He didn’t agree or disagree with what Eduardo said. He just wanted Eduardo to go with him to meet her, Maria Gatti.

...

Maria and Marcello used to be childhood friends. Growing up with three brothers, Maria had always dressed like a boy. Gowns and make-up weren’t her thing. She preferred anything masculine.

She first met Marcello at an event, which he attended with his father. Mr Gatti worked under the Diabolo house, so they introduced both children to each other.

Marcello wasn’t interested in Maria one bit. But Maria followed him everywhere throughout that event, making him uncomfortable with her. He got tired of her and snapped.

"Why are you following me?!"

"My dad told me to hang around you" she replied, playing with her fingers.

"Don’t follow me"

"But..."

"You’re ugly. Stay away" he said and walked away. Maria started crying after hearing those words from him.

That was the first time they met.

They met again at junior school, where Marcello gave her the nickname, Crybaby.

The name became so popular that the other students called her that name. She wasn’t fazed by their behaviour. Then, she just wanted to do anything to get close to Marcello.

She would do anything for him. Buy lunch for him, visit his house unannounced, and find any excuse to be around him.

That was until she saw him on the school basketball court, kissing one of his teammates.

Maria knew he trained himself after school every day. She just wanted to be alone with him, so she bought a few drinks and snacks. As soon as she entered the court, she saw his lips around another man’s.

Everything she bought fell on the floor as she gasped loudly. He stopped kissing his teammate and tapped his shoulder.

"Wait for me in the locker room," he said to his teammate.

He nodded and ran away.

Marcello walked towards Maria. He crouched and picked up a pack of potato chips that she bought for him.

"This has less sugar. I’ll take this. Thanks, crybaby"

"You... You’re gay?" She stuttered.

"So?"

"You can’t be. What about me?"

"You? What am I to do with you, a crybaby? What were you thinking? That I would get married to you?" He poked her chest.

She stepped back as tears strolled down her cheeks.

"I hate you, Marcello"

"I know. Hate me more... Get rid of every feeling you have for me because I’ll never love you"

"I’ll make you regret this, I swear" she sniffled and turned to leave the basketball court.

"If one day I come to marry you, make sure you punch me right in the face", he yelled, but he didn’t think she heard what he said since she already left the court. He ripped open the chips and walked towards the locker room.

....

A few hours later, at a restaurant...

A woman dressed in a black suit jacket and long pants threw a hard punch at Marcello’s cheek.

"Hey, gay boy. Do you miss this crybaby?"
