Chapter 1015: Chapter 994 Visiting

Mr. Bai Shan heard and said to Daji driving the cart in front, "Let’s go, time to go home for a meal."

Manbao then said to Yin Huo with a smile on her face, "Don’t worry about it. The first time is novel, the second familiar. You can come and play at our house more often in the future."

Yin Huo smiled somewhat awkwardly, as it was his first time visiting someone’s home alone. He nervously twisted his fingers.

Seeing the carriage stop, Changshou, who was driving behind, had just hopped off to help his young master down when the carriage started moving again.

He paused for a moment, then hurriedly ran back onto the carriage and drove after them, all the way to Changqing Alley.

The carriage stopped, and Bai Erlang was the first to hop off, stretching lazily. As soon as he did, a foot reached out from the carriage, and Bai Shan asked, "Where’s the footstool?"

Bai Erlang muttered in grievance and fetched the footstool he had tossed aside, setting it in place. Bai Shan stepped down and then turned to help Manbao down.

Their young master pulled back the curtain, peered outside for a moment, and then lightly stepped down onto the footstool.

Changshou snapped back to attention and immediately ran over to support their young master.

Manbao warmly invited Yin Huo inside, while Changshou held onto their young master tightly, whispering, "Young master, aren’t we going home? It’s almost time for lunch, and the Old Madam must be worried."

Yin Huo said unconcernedly, "When I left today, I said I was going to play with classmates. If Grandmother doesn’t see me come back, she’ll know I’ve stayed outside for lunch."

"But today is the court’s day off. Your aunt and uncle should all be coming home..."

Yin Huo smiled at the three of them and whispered as he followed them inside, "What of it? All the families are in the capital; we can see each other anytime. It’s not necessary for me to attend every time. Besides, when have they ever not come back on their days off?"

Yin Huo stated, "They come back to see Grandmother, not me."

Changshou stayed silent, feeling anxious but not daring to bring it up again.

Once inside the second courtyard, Yin Huo went to pay his respects to Mr. Zhuang, as he was an elder of their family after all.

Mr. Zhuang had frequently heard the children mention Yin Huo and knew he was ill and was currently being treated by his eldest disciple. Therefore, he was very kind and indulgent toward him, smiling as soon as they met.

"Have a good time here. If they play rough with you, don’t hesitate to fight back. If you can’t beat them, tell me, and I’ll discipline them for you."

Manbao protested, "Teacher, we never bully our friends."

Bai Erlang, who had just been snitching to Mr. Zhuang, lowered his head and moved forward a bit. Mr. Zhuang glanced at him and then said, "Alright, go and take your friend out to play. Don’t bully your friends, and also don’t bully your junior brother."

Manbao and Bai Shan agreed, grabbing Bai Erlang and pulling him outside. Once outside, Manbao was about to hit Bai Erlang, who pushed back without hesitation, saying, "If you guys bully me again, I’m going to call the teacher."

Bai Shan snorted, "Share the money!"

Bai Erlang, feeling triumphant, said, "I’ve already told the teacher."

"We still need to share."

Bai Erlang became anxious and shouted, "The teacher said for you guys not to bully me."

Manbao replied, "The teacher told us not to hit you, but he didn’t say we couldn’t share your money. So we still need to split it, hurry up..."

Reluctantly, Bai Erlang went back to get the money. Yin Huo couldn’t help but smile, but as he turned around, he saw many rare and exotic flowers arranged along the corridor. He approached with curiosity, realizing he hadn’t seen many of them before.

"What flower is this? Hey, is this half-open chrysanthemum green? This is a chrysanthemum, right?"

"That is a chrysanthemum," Manbao asked with a smile, "What do you think? Is it pretty?"

Yin Huo nodded blankly, "I’ve rarely seen these species of flowers, mostly only heard of them. Some I haven’t even seen before. Where does your family get so many exotic flowers and herbs from?"

"We buy them from others," said Bai Shan for Manbao, and asked, "What do you think we could ask for these flowers if we sold them?"

Yin Huo paused before asking, "Are you in need of money?"

Bai Shan and Manbao shook their heads in confusion, "Not at all, why do you ask?"

"If you’re not short on money, then why..."

Why is every other word about money?

Manbao caught on and laughed, "Although we’re not short on money, we don’t have so much that we can spend it without a care. So, who would ever think they have too much money?"

Yin Huo, who had never worried about money or indeed never taken it to heart, was stunned. After a pause, he asked, "Is money really that important?"

Manbao and Bai Shan looked at him with a peculiar gaze, finding Yin Huo to be even more naive than their Junior Brother. How could someone ask such a foolish question?

So, the two of them nodded together and said with an unusually affirmative tone, "Absolutely, it’s very important."

Yin Huo seemed to ponder this.

But he quickly recovered and pointing at the flowers, asked, "So, are these flowers all for sale?"

They both nodded.

Yin Huo then smiled, "Then sell them to me, I really like flowers."

"No way," Manbao rejected the idea without a second thought.

Yin Huo was taken aback and asked, "Why?"

Bai Shan coughed lightly, looking up at the sky, at the roof...

Manbao also coughed slightly, feeling a bit uncomfortable, but thinking they were all friends now, it was better to be straightforward, "These flowers can’t be sold to friends. They need to be sold to someone I don’t like."

Yin Huo opened his mouth in surprise, and when he looked back at those beautiful exotic flowers and herbs, he couldn’t help but take two steps back, "Are they, poisonous?"

Manbao looked at him in astonishment, "Your thoughts are so strange. These are just ordinary chrysanthemums, flower of small pipeworts, and ancient roses. How could they be poisonous?"

Yin Huo breathed a sigh of relief, then returned to his original position and gave an embarrassed smile to the two.

Indeed, if they were poisonous, they wouldn’t be left out in the hallway, would they? Wouldn’t that mean everyone in the house might get poisoned?

"Then... why sell to someone you don’t like? These plants all look nice to me, and these few that are blooming are pretty too. Does it mean the rest will turn out ugly when they bloom?"

"Not at all, they are also beautiful. I can guarantee this generation, but I can’t guarantee the next," replied Manbao.

Yin Huo’s eyes shifted, "The next generation?"

Manbao nodded, smiling happily yet with a heavy tone, "They’re difficult to breed from seed, and they might bloom poorly the second time they flower."

Yin Huo now understood why they should be sold to someone disliked. Who wouldn’t want a scarce flower thinking that after enjoying it this year, they could enjoy it again next year, then breed from it the following year?

To cut off the lineage after one generation...

Yin Huo smiled and then suddenly remembered something, "If they are people you don’t like, would they buy from you?"

"I hate them, but they don’t necessarily know that I hate them. Besides, which wealthy household goes out to buy flowers themselves? Isn’t it the servants who buy them to present as offerings?"

Yin Huo laughed, "That’s not always the case."
