The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!
Chapter 90 - 23: Guardian of Justice

Chapter 90: Chapter 23: Guardian of Justice

The Lich belonged to high-ranking races and generally possessed powerful magic.

However, that was secondary.

Whether they were Angels, Demons, Dragons, or Titans, all other high-ranking races understood one thing: never provoke a Lich unless absolutely necessary.

If provocation was unavoidable, a quick fight was the best strategy; never drag it into a prolonged battle.

This race had many characteristics that were completely different from other races. For example, they had almost no clear desires, often living in confusion. If someone offended them, it undoubtedly gave them a clear target. *They would be thrilled to the point of madness and devote all their efforts during their near-infinite lifespan to defeating their opponent and settling accounts.*

Even more terrifying, this race did not need rest, so they settled scores tirelessly and relentlessly, twenty-four hours a day. Idle hands meant they had to do something, right? And the Lich’s Undead Summoning Magic was among the least costly and least exhausting of all magics. This meant their destructive power was steady and horrifying.

Of course, there were also other general qualities of the Undead Clan, such as: no morale, no fear of death, no pain sensation, no fear, and exceptional discipline, making them particularly suited for legion warfare.

This was incredibly bad, utterly terrible. Provoking a Lich was almost like kicking a hornet’s nest.

Sadly, humans, ignorant of high-ranking races, had no understanding of this. Those humans who faced Gray had no idea they were up against a Lich.

Did Benedict II and Duke Fernandes still have tens of thousands of troops? Could they crush a small Lich who could only control a hundred Undead Knights?

Of course, they could.

In fact, all the "big shots" Catherine mentioned thought the same. Even Heaven and Hell thought so.

But that was assuming the strategy was correct. If the strategy was incorrect, there would be numerous possibilities...

A distance of 50 kilometers—if Duke Fernandes launched an attack with a force of tens of thousands, including many infantry and various supplies, it would take him at least two days to reach Lion King City.

This was why he chose that distance to set up camp, as it was the best "observing" distance.

But that was only the case against a regular army.

If the enemy was a force of a hundred Undead Cavalry, the circumstances would be entirely different.

The same 50 kilometers, for a hundred breathless Undead Cavalry, took just one hour. Doing so was like putting meat on a chopping block.

...

That day, Duke Fernandes’s soldiers were sound asleep, completely unprepared.

The camp was quiet, with only the sound of the wind, crackling of burning wood in the bonfires, sporadic snores, and the footsteps of patrolling soldiers... Well, actually, there were quite a few sounds, but none were very loud.

The sentries were all a bit drowsy.

They had been told the war wouldn’t start until the Allen Kingdom’s army arrived, so until then, they could eat, drink, and be merry.

So, with no warning, a familiar line rang in everyone’s ears: "All sins will be settled, all souls shall be purified! The sunlight shines on every corner, leaving no shadow behind!"

The soldiers jolted awake, including Duke Fernandes. He sat up hurriedly from his bed, only to find everything around him dead silent.

"A nightmare?"

Beads of sweat slowly slid down his forehead.

Resting his hand on his forehead, he was about to lie back down and sleep again. However, the voice rang out once more.

"For justice! Silver Moon Knight Order, charge—!"

Duke Fernandes jolted, quickly rushing out of the tent.

It was still silent, but the surrounding soldiers, eyes wide open, were looking around alertly, just as confused as he was.

"Did you... hear any sound?"

"I think I did, but... it’s not clear." The soldiers mumbled, unable to confirm.

Suddenly, Duke Fernandes saw something moving quickly under the moonlight on the northeastern hill, but without any sound.

He slowly widened his eyes.

The sentries in the northeast direction squinted, holding their breath as they carefully observed.

Time ticked by.

Gradually, they saw those shadows speeding forward under the faint moonlight and recognized the flying Silver Moon Banner, their expressions twisting in shock.

"Sil-Silver Moon Knight Order—!" someone screamed.

"For justice!"

The next moment, Gray, leading the charge, rode Tenidas and leaped over the camp’s rather low fence.

The soldiers who should have been guarding the fence were terrified and began to scatter.

Next came the second, third, and fourth, as the members of the Silver Moon Knight Order leaped into the camp one after another.

Duke Fernandes’s soldiers, utterly unprepared, fell into chaos, running in all directions.

In fact, this was the right move; regular soldiers had no chance against the members of the Silver Moon Knight Order individually.

"Wait, we came to set fires, but we didn’t bring any torches."

"No worries, they have some!"

So, the Silver Moon Knights began to search for torches everywhere and then tossed them onto the tops of the surrounding tents one by one.

The fire blazed brightly.

Duke Fernandes’s face turned pale.

He couldn’t understand why the Silver Moon Knight Order suddenly appeared here, targeting him instead of the King’s army. Besides, he had received a secret message from the spies in Lion King City before going to sleep, saying everything was normal in the city...

However, he didn’t have time to think about all that now.

"Rally—! Everyone, rally! Don’t panic! They only have a hundred men! We will win!" He walked through the undisturbed part of the camp, shouting, suppressing the chaos, and began to organize a counterattack.

Based on the experience the King had against Gray, large ballistae were quickly rolled out.

However, the already chaotic northeastern troops were no match for the Silver Moon Knight Order.

So, before the troops could gather and before Duke Fernandes could move the few ballistae to the northeastern camp, the swift-moving Silver Moon Knight Order had circled around, setting everything in the camp on fire.

"Retreat! The tactical objective has been achieved! Retreat!" Gray shouted, waving the Silver Moon Banner in the wind.

The Undead Knights of the Silver Moon Knight Order quickly regrouped and followed Gray, retreating along the original path. The discipline they showed left Duke Fernandes dumbfounded.

Regular armies would take at least ten minutes to transmit orders, but the Silver Moon Knight Order seemed to need only an instant.

"Forget them! Don’t chase! Put out the fire!" Duke Fernandes shouted, starting to organize fire extinguishing to minimize losses.

However, he was still too naive; this was just the beginning.

Behind the hills, out of sight of the army camp, Gray led a hundred Silver Moon Knights to quickly turn around and circled back.

"Isn’t the next step to return? What are you trying to do?" Black Cat screamed.

"Why return? The sun hasn’t risen yet, and idle hands need something to do." Gray said seriously, "Guardians of justice don’t need rest!"

Fifteen minutes, just fifteen minutes, Duke Fernandes hadn’t finished putting out the fire, and the "escaped" Silver Moon Knight Order returned, starting fires on the southwestern side.

They needed fifteen minutes not because they rested but because it took fifteen minutes to circle around the northeastern camp to the southwestern side.

Duke Fernandes was stunned: "Don’t they need to rest?"

Yes, they really didn’t.

It was a whirlwind tactic, a natural instinct of the Undead Clan. They didn’t need to sleep or rest, so while human cavalry would be exhausted after one round, the Undead would launch wave after wave, tireless.

Having just withdrawn from the northeast, they immediately struck the southwest with madness, setting fires.

"Next up, the northwest!"

At 4:50, the Silver Moon Knight Order withdrew from the southwest under the army’s blockage. At 5 o’clock, they struck the northwest.

At 5:30, they attacked the southeast side.

This time, Duke Fernandes didn’t rush to dispatch troops, knowing that infantry couldn’t possibly block them, and his cavalry couldn’t catch the Silver Moon Knight Order. Sending troops would just be spreading them thin.

Without any hindrance, the Silver Moon Knight Order grew bolder, directly charging into the center of the camp, setting Duke Fernandes’s tent on fire...

There weren’t many casualties as the Silver Moon Knight Order didn’t aim to annihilate their opponents, but the entire camp was ablaze.

To chase or not to chase, a disheveled Duke Fernandes was trapped in a dilemma.

After much hesitation, he could only gather all his troops at one point in the camp, forming a circular formation, hoping for the night to swiftly pass.

This was a tactic designed to counter raiding cavalry. It wasn’t easy to regroup the troops amidst chaos, but Duke Fernandes managed it due to his years of experience. But that was the limit.

With barely over ten thousand troops, it was impossible to form a circular formation to guard the entire camp. Hence, the rest of the camp could only be left to the Silver Moon Knight Order to burn thoroughly.

Catherine hovered in the sky, watching silently, expressionless.

Next to her, Vivian was excited, nearly cheering Gray on.

Gray continued to roar in the wind, while Black Cat was dizzy from the shock.

Duke Fernandes watched with wide eyes, his expression couldn’t get any darker. Without a doubt, this was the worst battle he had ever fought in his life.

As dawn broke, the Silver Moon Knight Order had raided and ambushed Duke Fernandes’s camp seven times, coming and going like the wind, unstoppable, untouchable...

One had to say, the Undead were truly "diligent" when they put their minds to it, especially those with faith.

This was merely the beginning.
