Chapter 82: Chapter 16: The Eve of the Storm (2)
Under the silver moonlight, Catherine spread her wings and flew at an extraordinary speed, leaving a white trail in the sky like a shooting star.
...
The entire Lion King City army was swiftly gathering.
Countless soldiers, holding torches high, marched in orderly lines toward the Lion King Palace.
The army passed in front of Pearce Cathedral, and Lord Bishop stood on the balcony, watching with a look of horror.
The army converged around Lion King City, and Yilin stood at the window, watching in terror.
Shelley, Count Gruglu, Dean the Priest... to be precise, everyone in Lion King City was stunned.
"What the hell is happening?"
Duke Tangjis and Duke Fernandes were also hiding in their mansions, secretly watching.
...
On the road leading to Lion King City, in the marshlands, a large group of cavalry in elite armor galloped through as if on solid ground. They had no torches and did not need illumination. Only their banner fluttered in the wind.
Mountains, rivers, forests, nothing could stop their advance.
...
"Your Majesty, do we really have to act against the Holy Knights? They are Holy Knights..."
"Shut up!" The King shoved aside the minister who came to dissuade him, roaring, "Anyone who tries to take my throne, I will kill them! No one can take my throne! Not even the Holy Spirit! If he doesn’t want war, then he should hand over Bob immediately!"
Donning his armor, the King gritted his teeth and walked out of the hall.
...
Two demons stood on top of the bell tower, quietly watching the storm brewing.
Zeda’s mouth slightly curled up.
"Excellent, he has already struck the most crucial chord in the King’s heart," Tavia smiled.
...
Gray rode through the empty streets with Bob.
Jones and Dora rode on either side of him, eyes wide and on high alert.
Vivian, invisible, fluttered around Gray.
The distant sounds of armor and shouting made Bob, sitting in front of Gray, tremble with fear.
"Where are we going?" he asked softly.
"We’re going to the church," Gray said softly, "All brave knights pray before battle, so the Holy Spirit will hear our voices. In a war blessed by the Holy Spirit, even if we fall, the Holy Spirit will accept our souls."
Bob looked at Gray with tear-filled eyes.
...
Catherine held her breath, putting all her strength into accelerating.
...
The light of the Silver Moon slanted down, draping Pearce Cathedral’s statue in light and shadow.
...
"What’s happening?" Yilin asked urgently.
"I don’t know," Abi Robbs said in a panic, "They broke into the Holy Knight’s room, seemingly searching for the Holy Knight."
"Searching for the Holy Knight? What’s going on?" Yilin’s eyes widened.
...
Catherine’s figure traced an arc in the night sky, beginning to fly towards the zenith. She kept flying and flying. Soon, she saw ahead of her a massive floating golden gate, hundreds of meters tall, opening with a "crack."
Glimmers of Holy Light seeped out from the "crack," and two Angels stood guard by the gate.
Landing on the platform, Catherine urgently said, "I need to see the Holy Spirit, immediately!"
The two Angels did not stop her, and Catherine quickly passed through the "crack."
...
After dismounting, Gray led Bob by the hand as they climbed the steps of Pearce Cathedral.
The Black Cat whispered, "Gray, I think this time it really might be as serious as Catherine said... Shouldn’t you reconsider?"
"We know where the target is, but we don’t know the path. We should fix our eyes on the goal and move forward step by step, without any hesitation," Gray responded firmly.
"Alright, you’re right... but I still hope you can reconsider. After all, Catherine has already fled..."
"No need. I believe, as always, that Catherine may have left, but the Holy Spirit is still with me."
"I feel like you’ve changed, you’re not like a Lich anymore."
"Is that so? Then that means the change is right."
Jones and Dora followed closely behind, and Vivian fluttered around him.
Reaching the top platform, the Bishop hastily walked out from the main entrance. Seeing Gray holding Bob’s hand, his expression froze instantly.
Gray nodded slightly in greeting and then brushed past him, entering the cathedral.
Vivian whispered in Gray’s ear, "If you need power, with Catherine not here, I can lend you mine. My power might suit you better."
"No need, I’ve already summoned the Silver Moon Knight Order. They will arrive before dawn," Gray responded casually.
"The Silver Moon Knight Order?" Vivian visibly hesitated, "Can they make it in time?"
"The Undead Knights are very light, and their riding skills far exceed those of typical human cavalry, allowing them to maintain full speed without needing rest. Plus, it’s winter now. The old King’s army needs seven days to cross the marshes. One night should be enough for them."
"Alright, that’s definitely fast enough. But are you sure you want to use the undead’s power? It could easily expose you."
"Are you worried about me?"
"Because I suddenly feel that keeping you as the Lich Knight might be more beneficial for us. I even want to help you. There’s nothing more frightening than a Holy Knight whose faith hasn’t crumbled but can cause immense destruction within the church. Will my words stop you?"
"I follow my heart, it has nothing to do with you."
"Alright."
