Chapter 49: Chapter 35: The Troubles of the Blood Clan (3) (Second Update)
It was a starry night.
Dora came to deliver a meal again.
Flapping her wings, she wobbled into the mansion.
Two angels watched her from a distance.
Quickly, she flew into Jones’s room and, with a "bang," transformed into her human form.
It was pitch black.
"Huh? Lord Jones, are you not here?"
She took out a firestarter and lit the candelabra. Then, holding the candelabra, she turned around.
"Ah!" Dora quickly covered her mouth because she saw Jones shivering in the corner.
"Lord Jones! What’s wrong with you?"
*He was shivering, his face pale. But, wait, can a vampire’s face get even paler? Anyway, he was shivering, pale-faced, sweating profusely. His expression was so twisted, he looked like he was dying.*
"Quick... give me blood," Jones extended his shaking hands.
Dora hurriedly took out the jug of blood. Instantly, she saw Jones, like an addict, rush to her, snatch the jug, and start chugging the blood.
Wiping his mouth after drinking, he turned to Dora and asked, "Still tastes like booze. Never mind, who cares, is... is there more?"
Dora had never seen Jones breathe so heavily. She could only nod quickly, "I’ll go get more now!"
...
Two hours later.
"This one’s too sweet, not only did they drink, but they also have diabetes... Forget it, never mind, hurry! Go find more!"
"Okay!"
The two angels quietly watched Dora fly away again.
...
Another two hours later.
Jones finally pulled himself together, leaning against the wall, staring blankly at the ceiling.
"Lord Jones, what happened to you?" Dora asked cautiously.
"Idiot," Jones weakly spat out the word.
"Another idiot? Didn’t you say idiots don’t appear every day?"
"But I found out idiots always have time! Today, he spent all day playing knight games with kids. Can you believe it? He made flags, crafted armor, for fifteen kids! Fifteen! Planning to form a knight squad! What nonsense! Have knights nowadays fallen to such a level? He dragged me out, made me wear armor under the sun for the whole day, and said he’d take me to the chapel to pray tomorrow! Oh my god! A praying vampire, can you imagine? I’ve never been inside a chapel my whole life!"
"Pfft."
Jones suddenly looked up. Dora stared at him emotionlessly.
"What did you just do?"
"Dora did nothing."
"You laughed?"
"No, Dora did not!"
"You laughed! At such a tragic story, you laughed? Do you have any sympathy at all?" Jones burst into tears suddenly, unable to hold them back after a whole day: "This is just too much! How could you do this! I spent the whole day under the sun, and you laughed at me!"
"Lord Jones, be good, don’t cry."
"Don’t touch me!"
"Be good~"
"Stop patting my head!"
"Lord Jones, hug, don’t be sad."
"Get out——!"
Finally, Jones managed to calm down.
"Lord Jones, do we really not need the King to send troops?" Dora asked softly.
Jones, choking back tears and gritting his teeth, said, "No, what’s the point of a dukedom you can’t hold onto? Don’t worry, for the revival of the Blood Clan, I will endure. The trials I faced today are blessings from above, meant to make me grow stronger! Nothing can stop me from becoming the Blood Clan King! Nothing!"
...
Early the next morning, Gray indeed came knocking on Jones’s door.
"Son! Let’s go to the service!"
The Beisher Family had its own private chapel inside the castle, grand and magnificent, although it was rarely visited. It seemed that in this era, most people’s faith stayed only on their lips. Of course, except for Gray, if Gray could even be called a "person."
This priest, unlike the previous ones, was overjoyed at Gray’s arrival.
"By the way, I took one day off yesterday, just one day, and you added an entire knight squad? What were you thinking?"
Yes, behind Gray, besides Jones and Shelley, sat a whole bunch of brats, oh, and the Bone Horse was there too. They were all praying devoutly. The priest was grinning ear to ear. These rascals, who usually caused trouble everywhere, were quietly sitting in the chapel, even non-human creatures were here! It was a miracle!
"Maybe in the future, I will embark on an adventure, so I need brave companions," Gray said earnestly.
"But they’re just kids."
"Every adult was once a kid; one day they will grow up."
"How long will that take?"
"A little while."
Alright, ten years? Twenty years? To a lich, that was indeed just a little while. The Black Cat was too tired to comment.
"Mr. Priest, Mr. Priest! I have a question for you!" A child asked.
"Speak."
"Mr. Priest, can you perform sacred rituals?"
"Uh... I should be able to. In fact, every believer can perform sacred rituals; it’s a right granted by the Holy Spirit. As long as you are devout enough, you can do it."
"But why have I never seen anyone do it?"
"Because the light of the Holy Spirit shines on every piece of land, evil in this world has become very rare. Only when fighting evil, does the Holy Spirit grant the power to use sacred rituals."
"Then when is it time to fight evil?"
"That’s hard to say; you have to feel it with your heart," the priest said mysteriously.
"What if I don’t have a heart?" Gray asked the Black Cat.
"Don’t ask me, how should I know. Maybe you can mold one out of clay, it’s about the same," the Black Cat replied emotionlessly, "Besides, you can already perform sacred rituals, can’t you?"
