Chapter 48 - 34: The Troubles of the Blood Clan (2)
Chapter 48: Chapter 34: The Troubles of the Blood Clan (2)
"As the son of a knight! How can you stay hidden in your room all day? Look! The spring sunshine is bright! Epic tales are waiting for us out there!" Gray stood at the castle gate in armor and shouted.
"It’s summer now." Jones, standing next to him in a small knight’s armor, muttered quietly.
"Alright, the summer sunshine is bright! As the son of a knight! How can you..."
"No need to repeat, thanks."
"But I want our father-son activity to have a perfect start today."
"Who’s doing a father-son activity with you!"
Gray raised his hand and with a "bang," smashed a hole in the nearby wall.
"Fine, you say it’s a father-son activity, then it’s a father-son activity." Jones finally gave up resisting and obediently mounted the horse.
Riding the horse, Gray wobbled forward, carrying Little Jones to who-knows-where.
The Black Cat watched from afar, lying on the balcony.
Last time, it was just away for an hour, and Gray fell in love.
This time, it woke up to find Gray had a ten-year-old son.
*Ha, the world of the Lich is really full of surprises and unexpected events.*
*Whatever, Gray finally agreed to its request for a day off today.*
*This is fantastic, remembering how terrible it felt lying in the heap of food yesterday. It really needs a good grooming.*
...
Taking "his son" to the streets, Gray felt entirely different. Walking with a breeze, indescribable excitement in his heart!
Jones lay flat on the horse’s back, hugging the horse’s neck tightly, motionless and tense. No way, though the armor wrapped him tightly, his eyes weren’t completely covered, making him feel like sunlight could penetrate anytime. After all, the Blood Clan facing sunlight is like mice encountering cats; that kind of fear is etched in their bones.
"Hi, Baron Gray!"
"Hello!"
"Good morning, honorable Baron Gray!"
"Good morning to you too!"
"Baron Gray, didn’t expect to run into you here. This must be the start of a beautiful day."
"Holy Spirit bless you."
Along the way, everyone they met greeted Gray, and Gray responded one by one.
"Do you know everyone here?"
"No, not a single one, but they all know me."
"How is that possible? Haven’t you been here just a few days?"
Before Jones could figure it out, a "Wow!" sounded, and children suddenly appeared everywhere, chasing Gray.
"Baron Gray! Baron Gray! Baron Gray!"
Small hands reached out to Gray.
Gray hurriedly put his hand inside his armor and found he had no copper coins.
"Sorry, I don’t have any money on me."
"We don’t want money!" The lead child shouted, "We want to high-five you, Baron Gray!"
"That I can do!" Gray reached out and gave high-fives one by one.
"Wow! I high-fived Baron Gray! I’m not washing my hand this month!"
A large group of children cheered, while Jones stared in amazement.
"Baron, who is this, and why is he also wearing armor?"
"This is the son I just took in, his name is Little Jimmy."
"Just took in? Are you saying he’s your adopted son?"
"No, he’s my ’biological son.’"
"Wow, that’s possible? I want to be Baron Gray’s biological son too!"
"Me too, me too, me too!"
"Alright! You’re all my biological sons! I’ll give each of you a set of armor! Then we’ll form a knight squad!"
"Wow—! Thank you, Baron Gray!"
The children went wild, cheering continuously.
"What will our knight squad be called? It needs a powerful name."
"Baron Gray is the Silver Moon Knight, so of course, we’ll be called the Silver Moon Knight Order!"
"How about the Super Invincible Awesome Silver Moon Knight Order?"
"Wow, that name rocks!" Gray said.
Jones hugged the horse’s neck tightly, thinking this guy was indeed an idiot.
When Gray set out to form his knight squad, he wasted no time.
First, a flag! A great knight squad can’t be without a mighty flag!
The seamstress almost fainted with joy when hearing this news.
"Baron Gray, are you serious? You want to order a knight squad flag from me?"
"Of course! But I don’t have any money; I might need some time to pay you."
"No money needed! Ordering a flag from me is the best advertisement ever! What kind of flag do you want?"
Of course, the knight squad’s flag should be Gray’s emblem. But Gray’s emblem was too simple. In fact, no baron usually has their own knight squad. After discussing with a group of kids, they decided to add an explosion design in the background to show their squad was super cool.
Sure, the world’s tackiest knight squad flag was born.
"Uh...Baron Gray, are you sure about this flag?" The seamstress looked very troubled.
"Sure!"
"Sure! Just this one!" The kids echoed from behind.
Jones stood aside, wishing he could find a hole to crawl into. Couldn’t he see the seamstress hated the design?
"If you’re really set on it, okay, but..." lowering her voice, the seamstress said quietly, "Please don’t tell others the flag was made by me."
"Alright!" Gray nodded firmly, not sensing anything amiss.
"Okay, you can pick it up the day after tomorrow."
Next, armor!
"Baron Gray, you want to order armor here? Of course, you’re welcome!" The blacksmith seemed very excited about Gray’s arrival.
"But I have no money. I need to pay in a few days. After all, the tavern doesn’t open until the morning."
"What do money and the tavern have to do with each other? Oh no, I mean, you don’t need money. This is the Beisher Family’s business; the armor you order is military supply. Not only do you not need money, we’ll prioritize your order."
"Really?"
"Of course. Now tell me, what kind of armor do you want?"
"It’s armor for them." Gray lowered his voice mysteriously.
"Them?"
The blacksmith’s gaze dropped, finally noticing the circle of kids around Gray.
"Uh...are you saying you want to order armor for these kids?"
"We’re not kids!" one of the children shouted, "We’re members of the Super Invincible Awesome Silver Moon Knight Order!"
"Exactly!" The kids echoed in unison.
Lowering his voice, the blacksmith asked, "Are you...serious?"
"Isn’t it possible to custom armor for kids?"
"Oh no, of course it is. If it’s what Baron Gray wants, we’ll meet any request." He then awkwardly called out, "Someone come help me measure sizes!"
Immediately, the kids cheered.
Forging armor takes much longer than making a flag, even for children’s armor. It would take seven days to complete, even with priority treatment.
...
"Did you say Gray ordered fifteen sets of armor to form a knight squad at the blacksmith’s? Ha, that’s good news. He’s finally doing what a knight should."
"But he’s ordering armor for some local kids."
"Pfft" Yilin spit out her tea she had just sipped.
"Kids?" After a long pause, Yilin said, "Does he think my blacksmiths are idle?"
At this moment, Shelley, who woke up naturally, was just getting up, looking everywhere for Gray.
...
With flag and armor sorted, next was the horses.
"Sorry, Baron Gray, as much as I admire you, horses cannot be free. Please prepare payment before picking up the horse."
"Alright." Gray sighed helplessly.
White City doesn’t produce horses, and a warhorse costs as much as three sets of fine full-body armor, equivalent to ten years of expenses for an average four-member family. And horse merchants would never accept credit.
Although the horse issue couldn’t be resolved immediately, it couldn’t dampen Gray’s enthusiasm for forming a knight squad.
He quickly skipped the horse part, moving on to the next step–the oath!
"Humility, integrity, compassion, courage, justice, sacrifice, honor, faith."
"Facing powerful enemies, unafraid and brave, loyal and righteous, honoring the Holy Spirit, being honest and upright, preferring death over dishonor, protecting the weak, abiding by the law."
"We swore to bravely combat all oppression..."
"We swore to fight against all wrongs..."
"We swore to fight for the unarmed..."
"We swore to help anyone who seeks aid from us..."
"We swore not to harm any woman..."
"We swore to help our fellow knights..."
"We swore to treat our friends sincerely..."
"We swore to be loyal unto death to our loved ones..."
"We swore loyalty to Gray, and all enemies of him shall be my enemies. All who harm him shall be opposed fiercely...as long as it does not conflict with my oath, I shall follow all his commands, fight for his honor, respect him, and protect him until death..."
The sight of fifteen children standing on the bridge taking their oaths was indeed spectacular. The onlookers gathered were numerous and chatty.
"Is Baron Gray playing knight games with the kids?" This was almost the unified conclusion of everyone.
Next, it was Gray’s turn.
"I, the Silver Moon Knight Gray, hereby bestow upon you the knightly title. Accept your allegiance. I vow, as long as you uphold your oaths, I will protect you for life, respect you, and safeguard your properties as my own. I will protect your spouses and children, and if you predecease me, I will ensure your titles and properties pass to your rightful heirs smoothly. If I predecease you...uh, that’s probably unlikely. Let’s skip that part."
Finishing, Gray touched each of their shoulders with his sword.
The children all cheered, while Jones felt he was about to faint.
*Not from embarrassment, but because...damn that sun overhead!*
