Chapter 333: 332. Hidden Pawn (6)
Kai and Alys’s eyes seemed to be trying their best to stay in their sockets as they watched the Mage’s Tower with wonder brimming their gazes.
"It’s so..." Kai seemed to have no word to describe the Tower whose top seemed to go straight into the clouds. Nox was perched up over his shoulder watching as well.
Alys seemed equally entranced until the door opened and I gestured for them to come along. Kai and Alys followed like eager children.
Ruya and Master Darren greeted us when we reached at the lobby, Kai and Alys still in awe.
"Welcome Lord Ocean," Ruya said while Darren gazed at my company curiously.
"Who might your companions be, Lord Ocean?" Darren asked.
Kai and Alys converged to my sides watching the two and I smiled. I placed my hand over Kai’s head.
"Introduce yourselves." I said and Kai stepped ahead hesitantly.
"I’m Kai Nereus Ryujin of Ryujin household." Kai said making the jaws of both Ruya and Darren to fall to the floor.
"I-I’m Alys," Alys said.
"I-I heard that right, didn’t I?" Darren stuttered.
"Ryu-Ryujin..." Ruya gasped.
"B-B-But how is this..." Darren gasped watching me and Kai.
Well, he knew I was Reina so, it was obvious that he was shocked out of his wits.
"Y-You didn’t tell us tha-that you were ma-married and had a ch-child... Lord Ocean." Ruya said and I chuckled.
"Kai is my nephew, Ruya."
Their eyes then flitted over to Alys prompting me to say, "And she’s a friend."
The two studied Kai and Alys who were sticking to my sides like kids hiding behind their parent.
"Archmage is expecting us," I said making the two to step aside hesitantly while still staring at Kai.
Well, nobody knew I had a child with me so, they would be shocked when they would see Kai introducing himself as a Ryujin household member.
I could feel Ruya and Darren’s eyes on us as we got onto the elevator platform and I took their hands. They looked at me questioningly before the platform moved making them both almost lose balance but then held onto my arms as we ascended.
"The ground is moving!" Kai gasped.
"We’re going up!" Alys squeaked.
"Yes, the Archmage’s office is on the top floor." I told them.
On the way, they looked at the different floors which we passed by and they saw the mages who were busy with their work and research.
"There are so many people here." Kai mumbled.
"They are all mages," I said and Alys watched with awe.
"So they all use magic." She muttered and I hummed.
We reached at the top floor and the two kept holding my hands till we got down on the solid ground. Once there they looked around at the study which was quite neat and tidy today with a lots of bookshelves and magic devices strewn around on the tables.
Behind the desk sat Silas who cocked his brow looking at my company.
"I thought I called you alone." I said and I smiled.
"They wanted to see the Mage’s Tower." I shrugged my shoulders.
"This place is not a park for the kids to roam around, Lord Ocean." He said and then stood up from his chair walking up to us.
Kai and Alys looked at me as if asking did they do wrong in coming along and I smiled at them.
"Don’t worry, he says the opposite of what he usually feels." I told them receiving a mild glare from Silas.
"Come sit." He said gesturing towards the couches and then proceeded to pour us tea.
We sat down and Kai and Alys looked at the the single set of cups and saucers and no snacks before they looked at Silas.
He looked back at Kai and Alys before he sighed.
"You should have at least told me you were bringing them." He said before he walked over to his desk and picked up his communication device.
"Ruya come up here with tea and refreshments." He spoke before he looked at Kai and Alys again and then corrected himself, "Bring sweets."
"Yes, Archmage." Ruya replied and Silas returned to the couch.
We sat in silence for a while till Ruya came up and placed the tray of sweets and a set of cups and saucers in front of us before she glanced at us and then left on Silas’s word.
He poured tea for Alys and was about to do the same for Kai but I stopped him.
"He’s a child, he drinks milk." I said as I leaned ahead pouring the warm milk into his milk.
"Oh..." Silas spoke before he leaned back taking his tea cup.
Alys picked up her own teacup looking tense while I added some honey to Kai’s cup swirling it with the small silver spoon.
"What’s that?" Silas asked looking at Nox who now sat on the table eyeing him.
"It’s an owl," I said and he looked at me.
"I can see that, but it doesn’t seem like an ordinary owl."
"His name is Nox." Kai said and Silas looked at him as if surprised that he talked to him on his own.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" Silas asked me.
I handed the cup to Kai and then faced Silas.
"I want to recommend her to join the Mage’s Tower." I said gesturing at Alys who straightened up.
Silas eyed her and then at the mana stone over her pendant.
"And who is she?"
"Remember, Viscount Jordan’s execution?" I asked and his eyebrows twitched.
"You mean..." He looked at her and I nodded.
"Yes,"
Alys seemed a little confused as she looked in between us and I turned to her.
"Take off that pendant," I told her.
She seemed a bit hesitant but she took off the necklace and her disguise melted away revealing her real appearance. Silas’s eyes widened as he felt her real mana presence and then looked at me.
"What’s the meaning of this?!" He demanded and I took a sip of my tea.
"Exactly what it looks." I spoke as I glanced at Kai who was feeding Nox the sweets.
"Lord Ocean," he spoke and I looked at him before placing my cup down and then gestured at Alys.
"This is Alys Scarlet Ferin Marisumus daughter of Prince Soros and Princess Diana." I said making him almost drop his cup.
His pupils quivered slightly as he tried to grasp the meaning of my words and when it sink he placed the cup down and looked at me.
"You want me to take in the Princess who was believed to be deceased years ago?" He asked and I smiled.
"Yes,"
"Are you-" he almost snapped making Alys flinch and Kai to look at him.
Silas seemed like he was barely able to handle himself and he pinched the bridge of his nose before he walked back up to his desk and picked up his communication device.
"Darren come up here, now." He ordered. I gestured for Alys to put on the pendant and she did.
Darren was up in a flash and Silas gestured at Kai and Alys.
"Show them the Tower," he spoke making Darren raise his brows.
Silas didn’t say anything and Darren cleared his throat before he looked at Kai and Alys with a smile.
"Please come over Young Master Kai and Lady Alys." He said making the two to look at me.
"Go," I said and the two stood up before going up to Darren.
"Ah, Master Darren?" I called before they could leave and Darren looked at me.
"Please take care of them, they’re my special people." I said with a smile and Darren nodded.
"Yes, I’ll take good care of them." He assured me before he led them away.
I faced Silas who seemed like he would explode any moment.
"Care to explain what you are doing?" He asked.
I explained him what I found about Alys’s past and also about how I found her now.
"She can’t stay out there, the Golden Serpent will not sit quietly unless she’s killed."
"What makes you think that she will let go of her if she comes here?" Silas asked and I smiled.
"She won’t exactly stay at this Tower, Uncle." I said as I crossed my legs one over the other.
"What do you mean?" He frowned.
"She will stay at my lair," I said.
"Your lair," he repeated, "Don’t you remember that there are already Mages working there?"
"I know, that’s why I sending her there. Let alone the Queen, even her father won’t reach there."
Silas massaged his temples before he leaned ahead, "What then? For how long will you hide her there?"
"Till the war ends after that, I will introduce her to the world."
Silas closed his eyes and clenched his jaw trying to control himself from lashing out.
"Do you think she will not be killed then? You will be literally throwing her in the light from which she has been running from."
I smiled, "I know, that’s why I will have to give her some strength of her own, as well as some of yours."
"What?" Silas cocked his brow.
I had a plan which would keep Alys safe and also to ensure that she would get the respect that she deserved. It’s just that it would take some time and the time limit of the war seemed just fine.
