Chapter 214: 213. Enter A New Pawn (4)

If one had to know about some place, one would find out about their culture, traditions and which places to visit there. But in my business, the first thing that we needed to find were the ones who were in power or the ones who were sitting behind the scenes and hiding their true nature.

Fenson was one of the small pins that looked after the outskirts on orders of a larger shark that handled the parts of the interior of the kingdom. If I had to reach that person then, I would have to bring Fenson on my side and it was relatively easy.

Fenson sat down in front of me on the chair while Lyall came and stood by my side.

"So, what might the little Lady of Clarkson household be plotting?" He asked and I smiled.

"First of all, I am not a lady of the Clarkson household." I said making his smile freeze.

"Pardon?"

"I’ll tell you who I am later on but before that, I have some work for you, Earl Fenson."

"May I first keep my word, My Lady?"

"Go ahead,"

"You said you would bring power to the nobles, do you plan on doing that by standing on the side of the nobles?" He asked and I smiled.

"Not exactly."

"Pardon? What? But you said-"

"That’s why you have to wait till the person in front of you is done with their talk, Fenson." I spoke informally making his brows furrow.

"Miss Clar- My Lady... whoever you are, I cannot accept a deal with you if you are not going to stand by our side."

I smirked, "It’s you people who need me at this point not the other way around. My plan will gain fruition regardless of your existence but I am giving you a chance to pick up the spoils from the war that I’m about to wage."

"A war?!" He gasped making me nod.

"Yes,"

"We’re already dealing with Sestia, My Lady!"

"I’m not talking about that war, I’m talking about the war that began after some people offended me."

"Pardon? Offended you?"

"Yes,"

"Who..."

"The Main Temple and even the King of this nation."

Fenson’s eyes went wide and his jaw grew slack before he shook his head and cleared his throat.

"Pardon me asking, My Lady but... Who are you?"

I chuckled, "The interesting question here is that, Earl Fenson, who are you?"

Earl Fenson’s eyes grew cautious as he asked, "What do you mean?"

"Earl Karcel Fenson, you have been trying your best to keep your original business of delivering information from the warzone to the other people inside the kingdom, right?"

His eyes grew strained and his face became tight, it seemed like he would attack any moment but he didn’t. Good for him.

That’s what he was, an information source for those who wanted to keep an eye on the warzone while keeping their influence on the nation.

"How do you know this?" He asked.

"My little birds told me," I spoke.

His lips thinned and he closed his eyes for a moment before he reopened them and asked me.

"What do you want?"

I smiled, "You’re smart. I knew you would make a good pawn."

His displeasure was clear and I leaned ahead.

"All right, I’ll get down to business. I want to infiltrate the Main Temple."

His eyes narrowed, "Why?"

"To destroy it, of course," I smiled sweetly making him flinch before his face lost its color.

"You think you can do that?"

"What makes you think I can’t?" I asked.

His sharp eyes observed me while I kept the smile and he sighed.

"I can’t make it happen. I’m too weak to bring you all the way to the Main Temple."

"Oh, you don’t have to bring me to the Main Temple physically," I said waving my hand.

"The only thing you have to do is spread the news that a Saintess has appeared and that she is as strong as the Saint. The Temple will do the rest."

Fenson didn’t look like he liked the idea but I added, "Your boss will love the idea, besides, if he steps in then it would be easier don’t you think?"

Fenson stiffened up and then leaned ahead.

"How much do you know?"

I chuckled, "More than you think."

Fenson stared at me for a while before he sighed, "I see... I’ll send a word to my superiors regarding this but I can’t be sure that they-"

I clicked my tongue and wagged my finger, "They will, if you tell them what I am going to say next then, they will come down here themselves to get me."

"What?"

I smirked as I spoke up, "Tell them a Dragon has descended."

He stared at me for a moment, I could see disbelief in his eyes which made me smile.

"You won’t know unless you see it, right?"

"What..."

I activated my Dragon’s Presence making the walls tremble and Fenson fell off of his chair gasping for breath while I sat in my chair with the air around me thrumming with the intensity of the plucked strings of doomsday harp.

"This isn’t even a quarter of my Presence," I spoke up and Fenson looked up at me with bloodshot eyes that were starting to tear up before I released the pressure.

Fenson slumped over the ground wheezing and heaving before he looked at me with wide, terrified eyes.

"Tell them exactly as I say," I instructed as I leaned ahead towards his face.

"Tell them that a Dragon is going to wage a war so, pick sides."

Fenson gulped before I leaned back and he scrambled up to his knees and sat properly in front of me on the ground with his head bowed.

"I-I had n-no idea that y-y-you were a Great Dragon!" He spoke, "I-I didn’t even know that you... you were alive..."

I smiled, "Didn’t you hear about me from the stories of Mordino’s liberation?"

His head lifted and he stared at me with a perplexed gaze.

"P-Pardon?"

His eyes then drifted over to Lyall as if asking him if that was true, but my knight didn’t say a word.

"Y-You are the D-Dragon that waged a war in Mordino and put the rightful Queen on the throne?"

"I only killed the Tyrant and cleared the path for those who were wronged, so, I hope you could understand what my motive of being here is."

Fenson gulped again, his arms were trembling and he had gone ashy pale.

"I-I understand, Great Dragon." He spoke and I smiled.

"It won’t take long but it won’t be as quick as Mordino." I stood up from my chair and Fenson’s eyes followed my movements as I strolled over to the desk and picked up the map.

"The war with Sestia is not my problem now because... Crown Prince Arian can handle it. What my concern is the Temple’s handling of this nation and the way the King is letting them have their way just because they have a Saint."

"Ye-Yes, Great Dragon!"

"I prefer being called Master," I corrected and he nodded.

"Yes,... Master."

"Send a letter to your boss and tell him that I’m heading towards east and that if he wants to have a talk with me before I get captured by the Temple then, he has only a fortnight."

"B-But what if the Temple catches you before the fortnight ends?" He asked and I smiled.

"I have my strong knight by my side," I patted Lyall’s shoulder and then looked at Fenson.

"And, I’m capable of murder as well."

Fenson’s eyes quivered before he bowed his head, "I-I understand, Master. I shall let my Leader know of your presence and intentions as soon as possible."

"Good. The place where he needs to come is marked here," I tossed the rolled map in his hands.

"My plan will work with or without the presence of nobles it’s just, if you decide to side with me then you can have the victory crown too if not then..." I shrugged my shoulders.

"I-I’m sure my leader will be by your side, Dr-Master! I-I am on your side!" He quickly said making me smile.

"Good, you may leave now. You have urgent work to do."

"Yes, Master!" He bowed his head before he stood up and rushed out of the room.

I removed the coat and Lyall took it from my hands before placing it carefully over the stand. I walked up and lay in the small bed looking at the ceiling.

"You should go and catch some rest too, Lyall. We’ll be moving tomorrow."

"Yes, Master."

Lyall left the room and I heard as his footsteps receded and he entered his room which was right next to mine.

The first step of my plan was coming to an end so, now all I had to do was wait for a fortnight before meeting with the man who would become my second knight in this place.

Apart from that, I also had to find more about the Temple so, in this time, I could investigate and find out as much as I could.
