Chapter 208: 207. Crest Of A Boulder (1)

The next day, we departed from the town after making sure that everyone were cured and were given a carriage with two horses along with the rough map that would take us to the next town.

I was already being called a Saintess or Goddess by the time we rode off and I relaxed in my place.

We kept travelling further northeast passing through the small towns and curing people and gaining more and more fame.

I started calculating on how long it would take for the ones whom I was trying to attract to start looking for me and a few figures came to my mind.

"Around one month," I mumbled, "maybe one and a half."

"Pardon?" Lyall asked as we rode from the mountainous region to enter the next town.

"I’m calculating the amount of time it would take for those people to come looking for me." I answered and he glanced once at me before he looked ahead.

I sat back closing my eyes almost dozing off to sleep when I felt the carriage halting with a sudden jerk and I sensed the presences up ahead.

"Please forgive me for the sudden stop, Master. Please rest for a while, I’ll clean up this mess." Lyall informed me before I could even open my eyes.

"All right," I mumbled before I relaxed in my comfy seat and felt the weight on the other side of the carriage disappearing.

I could hear the shouts and the sounds of people grunting and screaming.

The scent of rotting flesh reeled in the air and the agoinising sounds of some people in pain reached my ears making me sit up.

I sighed and got down from the carriage after adjusting my clothes. I walked up to the men who looked like bandits that were fighting Lyall, most of them were injured and lying on the ground.

"Stop!" I commanded making Lyall who heard me look at me.

The bandits didn’t seem to hear as one of them attacked Lyall and I activated Dragon’s Presence putting half of its pressure on him making him sink to his knees after dropping his weapon.

The people who sensed it were stunned momentarily and I gestured for Lyall to come back. He obliged quietly and I faced the bandits who seemed to be having a hard time because of my Dragon’s Presence.

"Wh-Who are you?"

"Wh-What the hell is this pressure?!"

I could see them trembling under the pressure before I lifted my Dragon’s Presence making them almost stumble.

"Wha-What did you do?" The largest man of the group demanded. He looked like a huge bear with shaggy long brown hair, and deep set menacing black eyes that were fixed on me.

"Why are you attacking us? We don’t have money." I spoke up.

"We don’t need money, we need medicines!" The other bandit said.

"Hand over any medicines you have now!"

The men demanded and I looked at Lyall.

"We don’t have any medicines." He stated

"Don’t lie! If you don’t hand them over we won’t let you pass."

I sighed, they didn’t seem like they would be budging if I didn’t step in.

I walked ahead making Lyall flinch along with the bandits who stood in the front. I smiled as I brought my hands up showing that I was harmless.

"Please let us pass, we need to go to the next village to cure people."

"Cure people?"

"Didn’t you say you don’t have medicines?"

"I can cure people without medicines." I announced.

"Healer?"

"A healer priest?"

"But she doesn’t look like someone from the temple." The bandits discussed amongst themselves before they looked at me.

"Can you really heal people?" The large man asked me and I nodded.

"I have been travelling from villages and towns healing the infected people."

The large man looked once at his companions before he stepped towards me and Lyall instinctively stepped in front of me protectively. I patted his shoulder gently before he reluctantly stepped aside making the large man look down at me properly.

"What is your name?" He asked.

"I’m Mirielle, and this is my knight Zoro." I gestured at myself and then at Lyall.

He observed me and Lyall for a momentz his stony face giving no indication of what was going on in his head.

"Come with us," he finally ordered.

I looked once at Lyall before I met the gaze of the large man who stared down at me as if trying to look through me.

He led us through the mountain range occassionally looking back at me as the rugged path wasn’t a place where a woman without any practice could walk but I was having no problems.

I and Lyall were surrounded by the bandits who still had their weapons out, Lyall stayed closer than usual and even more alert while I was feeling the stench of the rotting flesh grow more and more.

The people who were injured by Lyall earlier were being carried by the other men of the team and I could see the effect of living in such a harsh terrain on their bodies. These men were larger than normal with thick bundled muscles and tanned skin.

It wasn’t until we reached near the flatter land that I spotted the tents. The winds blew taking the sand and dirt from the ground over these who were huddled out.

"He’s back!"

"Leader is back!"

"Everyone is back!"

The people rejoiced having the men back and they looked at me and Lyall cautiously before turning to their leader.

"D-Didn’t you say you will bring the medicines? Who are these people?" A woman asked.

"She’s a healer." One of the men from behind me announced.

"He-Healer!"

"Are you sure?"

"A healer in such a place?"

The whispers broke out among the distressed people and I could see the doubt swirling in their eyes as they looked at me.

"She said she’s been traveling through villages and towns curing people." The leader said.

"What if she lied to save her life, Poras?" A woman shouted.

The man didn’t seem fazed as she shouted, "I don’t think she’s lying."

My eyebrows twitched as he said that, and he added, "If she lied then she won’t leave here alive."

He walked towards one of the tents after saying that and gestured me to follow. Lyall moved with me as I made my way behind Poras.

"There are over fifty people here who are infected, including women and children. Some are close to death," Poras said as we followed him.

"How many days will it take for you to heal them?"

"A couple of minutes," I answered making him stop and look at me.

"What?"

I shook my head as I didn’t want to repeat myself and stepped up opening the flaps of the tent which were right in front of us and also from where the stench was the thickest.

I entered the place gesturing Lyall to stay out, Poras walked in behind me.

I saw the people inside lying on the mats groaning and moaning, as they writhed in pain. The same scene that I had seen for the past couple of days.

I took a deep breath before I walked ahead towards the center, the people who were conscious called out for their Leader who was still in the tent. Some were begging him to kill them so that they would be free of this pain but he simply stared at them with a stony expression and then fixed me with a hard stare.

"Do you really think you can do this?" He asked me.

"Confirm it with your own eyes." I spoke before closing my eyes.

[Supreme Healing Activated.]

The purification and healing mana rushed out of me and I could feel it engulfing the people around in a cool, comforting embrace. The air which stank of rotting flesh also started being purified as the stench gradually diminshed leaving behind the clean air.

Within a few minutes, the spell had done its work and the people were free from infection. They sat up, shocked to have their pain disappeared and looked at their healed bodies before they started cheering and shouting in glee.

I staggered back towards Poras whose eyes were wide.

"I... need to rest." I feigned a weak voice making him grasp my shoulders.

He led me out of the tent and Lyall quickly approached me taking me off of Poras’s hands.

"Prepare a place for the Healer to rest!" Poras ordered.

Behind me slowly the people who were healed started rushing out shouting for their loved ones.

I ignored the scene behind me as Lyall and a man from Poras’s team guided us towards a tent.

He was continuously looking behind us and then at me.

"Y-You healed them all in one go!" He gasped.

"I have that much strength for one large scale spell." I answered.

"Are you a Saintess?" He asked.

"I don’t know," I mumbled.

"You must be! I’ve heard no other Healer can heal more than ten people in a day without collapsing and you cured more than five times that count!" He was excited as he said that and then stopped in front of a tent.

"Please rest here and call if you need anything, my name is Ali." He said with a grin and I nodded before Lyall towed me in.

"Are you all right, Master?" He asked and once the flaps fell closed, I straightened up.

"Yes, I’m fine."

I walked over and sat down on the hard bed letting out a yawn and Lyall stood in his place observing me.

"The night falls pretty quickly in these areas, right? We might have to continue our journey tomorrow," I told him.

"Yes, Master."

"I’ll sleep for a while, why don’t you take some rest too? You have been going around with me without any breaks." I said as I lay on the hard bed.

"I’m fine, Master."

"It’s an order, Lyall. Take some rest." I spoke firmly making him purse his lips.

"Yes, Master."
