Chapter 200: 199. I’ve Got Fans (4)

"What about your brother, Lady Aurelius?" Colette asked.

"Didn’t he awaken his power? Do you think he will return?"

Some girls had troubled expressions while others were smirking. It was clear to see the distinction between the parties here. It was a rude question.

I placed my teacup down and smiled at her, "I am sure he will return safely, Your Highness. I have seen him work hard and train every day, so there’s no point in me worrying about him. Besides, he is with His Highness Prince Eric, who is also quite strong, from what I learned from my brother, so I am sure both of them will be returning victoriously."

Her eyes grew sharp and I could almost see her mother’s displeased expression juxtapose with hers. They must be sure that Eric wouldn’t return but it would be quite fun to see their expressions when I would be done with my work.

Colette chuckled, "I see, you really trust your brother’s powers a lot. But have you seen a warfield before? Let me tell you, it is hell, Lady Aurelius. But then again, a sheltered little girl like you might not know what kind of horrors happen there."

I kept my smile intact, "Pardon me, Your Highness. But I can’t say that a warfield is like hell. Hell does not punish innocent people; only evil individuals who have sinned in their lives suffer there."

Her expression changed and I continued, "A war on the other side makes everyone suffer, it doesn’t see innocents or sinners. It is unbiased and the worst that could happen to humanity."

"That’s true,"

"Wars are bad, indeed."

"Lady Aurelius is right."

Some of the girls agreed with my words and I looked at Colette who didn’t seem pleased with my answer.

She was a sheltered brat who was living a lavish life while speaking about war while I had seen battlefields even before this brat was born.

"Are you saying this war is pointless?" She asked.

Oh, ho! So, you are going in that direction?

She wanted to trap me by mentioning the person who had started this war, King Roger. If I said something wrong then she would use it against me.

How childish!

[Goddess of Wisdom reminds you that she is a child.]

"Oh, no, she’s not. She’s a puppet crafted by her mother. There’s no way she deserves mercy."

"What’s wrong?" Colette asked and I shook my head.

"I cannot condemn war based on just my opinion, Your Highness. Sometimes, wars must be fought to show your enemies their place."

Her eyebrows twitched and she smiled, "That’s true."

The other girls around us started talking about different things and slowly the topic went back to the war again. I could hear them spouting nonsense about how Carlos was valiant enough to win every battle he led. In reality, what he was doing was letting his army do the work while he sat in his tent while others did everything for him.

But there wasn’t any news about a Dragon killing the Marquis of Denril so, I guess it was safe to assume that the news was limited to that region itself.

After everyone was done with their tea, Princess Colette suggested the topic of fashion and I couldn’t help but zone out as these topics were too boring, I would have left if not for Brielle but it seemed like she was doing fine.

Suddenly, one of Colette’s minions suggested taking a tour of the magnificent garden of the Emerald Palace and Colette very generously allowed for all the girls to join.

I saw something exchange between the trio before the girls started standing up, some of the older girls who were around me hovered at my sides.

"Lady Aurelius, why don’t you take a walk with me?" Colette offered.

I couldn’t deny, "It will be an honour, Your Highness."

I walked up to her and stood beside her watching her eyes drift over to one of her minions who joined us too.

Colette led all the girls out and I could feel her minions pushing against me as we reached outside, my reflexes were fast enough to always avoid them bumping into me and it wasn’t long until I realised that they were trying to either trip me over or make me fall.

I sighed as I avoided the girls. These kids were a thousand years too early to pick a fight against me.

Colette showed us the flowers that were blooming despite it being the middle of winter and the warmth that the garden oozed could only mean use of the magic which could save multiple lives.

"Miss Nash, why don’t you join us too?" Colette offered and Brielle flinched before she started walking towards us.

"Lady Aurelius," I turned my head as Colette called for me and she pointed at some particular flowers.

"These flowers were imported from the far east and they stay bloomed for a long time, their leaves make some good tea which helps a person relax." She explained.

"Here, we are going to plant some more of those flowers," She pointed at a spot where the freshly dug-up ground was.

I sensed the movements behind me and a quiet yelp before I felt something bump into me along with the foot that kicked my shin in order to trip me off balance. I almost fell into the wet patch of ground but I managed to slip out in time before the one who bumped into me stumbled over about to fall into the ditch.

But I ended up grabbing her hand as I realised that it was Brielle who had the expression of panic on her face. I pulled her upright noticing the shock on the faces of the three girls who had staged all of it for me.

"Are you all right, Miss Nash?" I asked and the shaken-up girl nodded.

I looked at her up and down and noticed the mud that was smeared over the edge of her cute pink dress.

"My, my! Miss Nash, can’t you even walk properly?"

"Didn’t your etiquette teacher teach you how to walk carefully?" Another girl added.

I could see Brielle’s face flushing and tears gathering in her eyes as the two girls laughed at her.

"Your dress is ruined now, Miss Nash. You should be careful while walking the next time." Colette added and I sighed.

"Miss Nash, why don’t we get your dress fixed? Come, I’ll go with you." Brielle shook her head.

"I-It is fine, I will manage on my own, Lady Aurelius." She stuttered.

I smiled at her as I squeezed her hand in mine, "I insist,"

"Let her go with you, Miss Nash. What if you trip over again?" The girls laughed again and Brielle’s whole face went red.

Brielle and I walked back to the Emerald Palace and I could see her trying her best to contain her tears. I stopped as we were in an empty room and she stopped too facing me with a confused expression.

"Please have a seat, I’ll help you remove the stain," I said gesturing to the sofa and she looked once at the sofa before she shook her head.

"Aren’t you going to call over a maid for that? I might need to change my dress."

I chuckled, "Nonsense, you don’t need to change your dress, it looks so good on you."

I tugged her towards the sofa and made her sit before I crouched near her feet making her gasp.

"M-My Lady! Y-You shouldn’t-"

"Please wait," I spoke up and she looked down at me while I focused my attention on the stain.

I used the water magic to wash off the stain and then froze the rest of the moisture. I held up the edge of her dress making her gasp and cover her mouth with her small hands.

"H-How did you?"

I smiled at her as I said, "It’s not only my brother who has awakened his magic power."

Her eyes went wide as I said that and I got to my feet looking at her.

"I didn’t come with you because I was afraid that you might fall, Miss Nash. I simply came along because I knew what happened back then,"

Her lips pursed and her eyes grew strained before I added, "I want to be your friend if it doesn’t bother you."

Her eyebrows jumped and she asked, "You want to be my friend?"

I nodded, "B-But why... I mean, I-I don’t have any worthy aspects a-and I’m not even that intelligent like my sister or brother..."

I chuckled, "I said, I wanted a friend, Miss Nash. I didn’t say that I wanted a smart or influential person."

Brielle clamped her mouth with her cheeks going pink, she was too cute for me to not befriend her, besides, she was useful to me.

"B-But the Princess," she was about to say something but she quickly shook her head.

"I’m asking you, Miss Nash. Do I not seem worthy of being your friend?"

She gasped and quickly shook her head bringing her hands up, "That’s not it, y-you are Duke Aurelius’s daughter and I couldn’t even compare."

I smiled as I held her hand, "I don’t mind, Miss Nash. I want a genuine friend for myself, and I thought you to be a perfect person for that purpose. Now the rest is up to you."

"Bu-But... why me?"

"And, why not you?"

She couldn’t say anything and then after seeming to ponder over it for a bit, she looked at me hesitantly, "Are you... really willing to be my friend?"

I smiled, "Yes."

A small smile graced her adorable features before she spoke, "Then... I’ll be happy to be friends with you, Lady Aurelius."
