Chapter 194: 193. Take It To Your Grave (1)

The two men seemed like they were suspended into space as they stared at me with wide eyes while Lady Dahlia stepped ahead.

"I believe we’re not going to get answers to all of our questions, Mas-Miss Aurelius." Lady Dahlia predicted.

"Yes, I can only tell you as much as necessary now that my identity is exposed before you all."

"Wait, wait." Roan spoke up as he pointed at me, "So, you’re not only a Dragon but also a Duke’s daughter, a girl! And a child at that!"

"Yes," I answered making him grip his hair.

"So, all this time I was bickering and playing around with a child?!" He shouted.

"Not so loud, Roan. My identity is only know to very close people."

"Does Lyall know?" He immediately asked.

"No," I said, "not yet."

"Enora?"

I shook my head, "Only my family knows... and now you three and those Dark Elves."

[Defender of Divine Glory is listening attentively.]

[Goddess of Wisdom asks you to be careful of oversharing information.]

"Don’t worry, I won’t spill anything. And they won’t understand even if I did spill something by mistake." I assured them.

[Giver of Gifts warns that you will face consequences if you leak the information even if it’s by mistake.]

"What do you guys take me as?"

"It’s a bit... difficult to make sense of this, Lady Aurelius." Sir Adler spoke up pulling my attention back to our conversation.

"You are Duke Aurelius’s daughter but you’re also a Dragon. How is that possible?"

"Dragon’s bloodline can be passed by a blessing, last year, I ran into the remnants of a Dragon’s soul and he bestowed his heart to me."

"His heart?!" Roan gasped.

"A Dragon’s heart..." Lady Dahlia gasped.

"Wait, I don’t understand how did that make you a Dragon, he gave you his heart like he fell in love with you?" Roan asked and I sighed.

"No, idiot. The Dragon’s heart is the source of his mana and he was dead for a long time but... just because of his circumstances he was still trapped here. I helped him get freed so, he blessed me with his mana."

"Where did you even find this Dragon?" Lady Dahlia asked.

"I found it while inspecting the mine which my father was duped into buying."

"You mean your magic stone mine?"

"It’s not a mine," I corrected, "It was the Dragon’s lair and now it belongs to me along with his mana and bloodline."

"It’s... hard to believe." Lady Dahlia gasped.

"Thanks to that Dragon’s mana and bloodline, my intelligence grew along with my physical strength." I used a white lie making them nod in understanding.

[Goddess of Wisdom wonders if the humans can be so easily fooled.]

"Shut up, please."

"Back in Mordino when I was fighting with Drac, I... inadvertently blessed him and he came all the way here to work under me."

"So, you turned him into a Dragon?" Roan asked and I shook my head.

"He was already a Dragon, a born Lesser Dragon."

"A Lesser Dragon?"

"You mean the weak Dragons who served the superior Dragons?" Lady Dahlia asked and I nodded.

"Yes,"

"So, he’s your servant." Roan concluded.

"No, since I’ve blessed him with my mana and my blood he’s a kin to me now." I corrected.

"So, he’s your son now?" He asked looking at me up and down.

"Not exactly..." I said and he shook his head.

"I still am finding it hard to believe that this is your real form," Roan confessed, "It doesn’t make sense at all!"

"It’ll be hard to understand so, you’re free to forget about it. It’ll be beneficial for me."

"But why did you have to do all this?" Sir Adler asked.

"I was wondering the same thing, "Lady Dahlia said.

"You made a different identity for yourself, you even got involved with a lot of complicated political matters and even came all the way here. Why?"

"Exactly! You established Oasis Foundation and are gathering people from everywhere, you’ve basically became a parent for a lot of kids- even though you’re a kid yourself." Roan pointed at me.

"I mean, why? You’re a noble kid you could have enjoyed your life." He asked.

I released a deep sigh, "Those are the things I can’t answer."

"Why?" Roan asked.

"If I do, I’ll have to kill you." I lied making Roan clamp his mouth shut.

Lady Dahlia’s eyebrows twitched and even Sir Adler grew tensed.

"Ocean is a Dragon, the Master of Oasis Foundation, the information and assassination guilds. He is the one who is playing a part in this world, and I as Reina am," I looked at Roan.

"Living a life as a noble kid."

Roan opened his mouth before he closed it again and Sir Adler too, who seemed like he had a lot of questions hesitated.

"How did you mask your presence from us at the royal banquet?" Lady Dahlia asked and I looked at her.

"I had my Uncle make a device for me which could hide my presence."

"Your Uncle?" Roan asked.

"Archmage of the Mage’s Tower."

"Your Uncle is the Archmage of the Mage’s Tower?!" Roan almost shouted.

"Archmage Silas from the East Marquisate of Fairisles... Marquis Desmond Fairisles’s son?" Sir Adler wondered aloud and I nodded.

"Yes."

"You do have some formidable family members." Lady Dahlia commented making me smile.

"They are."

"Your Grandfather keeps the royals in check and your Uncle makes such miraculous devices for you." She said as she brushed her hand over the invisibility brooch that was still on her.

"So that was the reason why you always visited Fairisles mansion and had the letters from those two households delivered at Ryujin mansion." Roan summarised.

"Yes,"

"And now that you have most of the answers to your questions, I would like you all to keep it a secret." I said making the three grow slightly tensed.

"You all are affiliated to me already so, I request you to not bring this up before anyone even by mistake."

The three stared at me and I continued, "I could have done all this while being in my original form but, that could have brought my family to the execution platform. I am simply doing this for my own sake and... also for the Dragon who entrusted me with his legacy."

"The Dragon who what?" Roan asked.

"There is a story about the Dragon who was defeated by a man that established a glorious Kingdom."

Lady Dahlia gasped and Sir Adler who got it a second late also had his jaw slackened while Roan looked at them and then at me.

"What am I missing?"

"The foundational story of the kingdom of Sestia." I announced.

"You mean that... ruthless Dragon who killed countless humans is your..." Lady Dahlia gasped.

I inhaled deeply and licked my lips before looking at her and asking, "Well, aren’t you and I ruthless killers too?"

She frowned, "What?"

"You kill countless shifters and I have also... killed many people."

"You can’t compare yourself and Her Grace to that Beast, Lady Aurelius!" Sir Adler defended and I looked at him.

"You’re a ruthless killer too," I pointed out and Lady Dahlia crossed her arms at her chest.

"We have to kill those rogues, Lady Aurelius and you know what will happen if we don’t. But, what is your point here?"

"The history is written by the winners, and here the history was written by King Rudolph who killed the Dragon that had been helping and protecting the humans as well as other species here."

Lady Dahlia kept giving me the look which seemed challenging and I went on, "The rogues that you kill attack you that’s why you have no choice but to kill them. That’s the same with anyone, if their life is in danger, anyone will fight back. So did the dragon."

"What do you mean?"

"Do you know how much a Dragon’s scales or their claws or even their blood costs?" I asked.

"Their blood is fused with the purest form of mana, their scales are so strong that nothing can cut them,"

Roan shifted his weight, he might have recalled me shattering the blade and I looked at the other two.

"Except for a special weapon that can only be made by... another Dragon’s bones."

I hadn’t ever gone through it before but the first King’s sword was extremely heavy and strong just because it had the Dragon’s essence in it. It was later while I was studying about Dragons that I realised that the only thing that could break through the Dragon’s scales are the weapons made using their own kind.

"And that kind of sword can only be forged by Dwarves. The Dragon had helped everyone for centuries but as their greed grew they turned on the hand that fed them."

Lady Dahlia’s stance faltered and I continued, "The humans decided to kill the Dragon and sell its body parts for money and luxury."

"Wait that’s-" she gasped.

"The Dragon didn’t even know why he was attacked by those whom he had been so good to," I intercepted her and continued.

"But he couldn’t just die like that, he was a Dragon. A heavenly being who descended on earth to deliver everyone from their sufferings."

"That sounds like the story of Saintess Miella." Roan pointed out.

"It does," I nodded.

"He might have been one of the Dragons who descended with the others to protect this world from destruction on the call of the Saintess."

"Your First King killed a Heavenly Dragon?!" He gasped as he looked at Lady Dahlia and Sir Adler.

"But that’s..." She pursed her lips unable to utter a word.

"But in the end, the people he saved termed him as an evil monster and came in waves to kill him. Their greed turned into their need to prove their superiority over it and, the Dragon ended up killing the attackers who came after him."

Lady Dahlia’s face has gone pale along with Sir Adler’s while Roan listened attentively.

"The Dragon wasn’t happy to kill all those people, but with the way the things were going he was crushed. And at the end, Rudolph the Dragonslayer and First King of Sestia slayed the Dragon by stabbing his sword into the heart of the Dragon." I concluded.

"It’s not a known fact but he had enslaved the dwarves to make a sword out of Dragon’s bones to kill it." I added.

"Ho... How do you know all this?" Sir Adler asked.

"Because I met that Dragon... and the mana that I have is of the same Dragon who was murdered by the first King."
