Chapter 354: Chapter 353: Tacit Consent

The Heart Demon Illusion Realm restarted thousands of times; Yunxiao’s progress was slow but steady. Meanwhile, Nezha observed the changes in Yunxiao’s mentality to reflect on his own path.

The situation had stabilized somewhat.

...

Kunlun Mountain Yuxu Palace

Yuanshi Tianzun and Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad sat facing each other in silence.

"Lao Zi, is there truly no way to save Guang Chengzi and the others?"

Lord Lao Zi sighed helplessly, "I’m just an alchemist, not a doctor."

"Second Brother, the disciples aren’t ill—they’re cursed. The Outer Dao of Chaos is too different from the Primordial World. To completely dispel the curse, the only solution is to kill that Nine-eyed Demon God and sever the curse at its source."

The otherwise omnipotent Yuanshi Tianzun revealed an expression of worry as he gazed at his disciples under the clear light. He acknowledged that he had underestimated the threat at the time, neglecting to kill the Nine-eyed Demon God on the spot. Assuming that his intervention alone would protect his disciples, he had inadvertently caused the current predicament.

But he was not one to waver.

"Lao Zi, I’ve already used the origin of the Late Dao Demon God to set up an array, delaying the calamities affecting all my disciples. Next, I will enter Chaos to slay that Demon God."

Lord Lao Zi’s expression froze for a moment upon hearing those words. Although he knew Yuanshi Tianzun held Guang Chengzi in high regard, he hadn’t anticipated the extent of this favor.

Out of the Three Sects, the Chan Sect was currently in the worst condition. Though protected by a Saint, if Yuanshi Tianzun left, the sect would certainly fall into decline.

However, once Yuanshi Tianzun made up his mind, even his true self couldn’t sway him—let alone his Good Corpse.

"Since you’ve resolved, Second Brother, I will naturally support you," Lord Lao Zi replied.

Yuanshi Tianzun sent Lord Lao Zi on his way. He left the Pangu Banner to stabilize the Chan Sect’s Qi Fortune, gave a few instructions to Master Taoyi, and departed without further delay.

Master Taoyi was genuinely dumbfounded. As a Saint Disciple, his greatest assurance had always been the backing of a Saint. Now, with his teacher gone and his fellow disciples essentially annihilated, the decline of the Chan Sect was inevitable.

From now on, he would have to act cautiously and keep a low profile.

Within Biyou Palace, the Tongtian Sect Master glanced twice toward Kunlun Mountain. Knowing his Second Brother’s fondness for Guang Chengzi, he found the situation somewhat unexpected.

The trio of brothers had lived through endless ages together.Though they had nominally parted ways, the vast Primordial World made the distance trivial. However, Yuanshi Tianzun’s departure from the Primordial World signified a true separation.

Perhaps proximity breeds annoyance, while distance stirs longing.

And so, Yuanshi Tianzun silently left the Primordial World, embarking on the path to hunt down the Nine-eyed Demon God.

...

New Three Immortal Islands

Within the Purple Mansion, the glowing radiance of the array began to dissipate. Soon, Yunxiao and Nezha emerged. Naturally, Yunxiao’s Heart Demon wasn’t so easily eradicated. However, after half a year of continuous training, her adaptability had indeed improved significantly.

From observing Yunxiao’s repeated attempts at ’becoming a Saint,’ Nezha gleaned substantial insights. Yet, having recently advanced to Taiyi Golden Immortal, he still had a long way to go before attaining Daluo-level achievements.

After bidding farewell to Yunxiao, Nezha returned to the Sun Star to resume forging iron. Three years passed in this manner before news finally came from his teacher, Lady Nuwa.

Before he could process the message, Nuwa dragged him to Nuwa Palace. She held two fragments in her left hand and a white ring adorned with red patterns in her right.

Curious, Nezha stared at the ring and asked, "Teacher, is this the substitute you crafted?"

Nuwa gestured, causing the real Creation Jade Scroll fragments to merge into Nezha’s Divine Soul at his brow. Then, she smugly declared, "Ha! Did you really think this thing could stump me?"

"I’ll toss it into Chaos later, and Old..."

Before Nuwa could finish, an elderly Daoist appeared before them, smiling faintly at her.

Nuwa stiffened, sitting upright instantly. "Teacher, your teachings from days gone by remain etched in my memory!"

The Daoist Ancestor said nothing. With a gesture, the counterfeit Creation Jade Scroll fell into his hand, and he began to toy with it.

Nezha knelt and greeted him loudly, while furtively signaling to Nuwa with his eyes.

’It’s over! Are we as good as roasted meat now?’

Clearly startled by the sudden intrusion, Nuwa was internally panicking. Yet, she shot Nezha a reassuring look suggesting he keep his composure.

The Daoist Ancestor chuckled warmly, "It does have a touch of divine charm."

Upon finishing those words, Nezha’s vision suddenly blacked out, and the trio appeared in a dimly lit, grayish world. Chains crisscrossed through this realm, and Nezha experienced a headache merely from glancing at it.

All these chains were the tangible manifestations of the Great Dao.

Ignoring the counterfeit Creation Jade Scroll, the Daoist Ancestor beckoned to Nezha, summoning all the Chaos Bell fragments, which combined before him.

With another gesture toward the counterfeit Creation Jade Scroll, densely packed red lines began spreading outward.

With a flick of his finger, the Chaos Bell emitted a resonant chime that halted the encroaching web of red lines. Following this, the Daoist Ancestor danced his fingers gracefully, extracting select threads and inserting them into this realm.

Nezha couldn’t help but feel heartache as he gazed at the Chaos Bell, thinking to himself, ’Grandpa Daoist Ancestor, please be gentle with it! The Bell’s already on the verge of breaking!’

Noticing her disciple’s reaction, Nuwa quickly reassured him, "Don’t worry, just let Old Deng use it however he likes. I’ll fix it for you afterward!"

After three days, the Daoist Ancestor finished sorting through the threads, completing the latest upgrade to the Primordial World. With a swipe of his finger, a passage to Chaos appeared, where he casually hurled the ruined counterfeit Creation Jade Scroll fragments.

Once his tasks were complete, the Daoist Ancestor smiled warmly at Nuwa. "Since you’re already here, help this old man with a few things. The addition of new Dao principles to the Primordial World has caused disorder in certain areas. Please help me tidy things up."

Without waiting for a reply, the Daoist Ancestor vanished abruptly.

Nezha crouched behind Nuwa. Only after ensuring the Daoist Ancestor was utterly gone did he breathe a sigh of relief.

"Teacher, about our situation...what’s the stance of the Daoist Ancestor regarding us?"

Being a seasoned teacher, Nuwa immediately understood what her disciple meant despite his fragmented query.

"Rest assured. The very fact that he’s allowed you to possess that object indicates his tacit approval. Though naturally, we’ll have to work for it," she explained.

Pointing to their surroundings, she elaborated, "This place is the Origin World, containing the Great Dao that sustains the Primordial World. The affairs of the Primordial World aren’t stagnant; randomness abounds, which inevitably leads to issues. While the problems may seem minor individually, they accumulate over time into larger complications."

"Now, the two of us have been conscripted as laborers. I’ll handle the uppermost matters, while you’re in charge of the lower levels. After we finish this work, we can reconstruct the Chaos Bell and return home."
